Two of my friends and I did the Ladder Tour yesterday and were lucky enough to be the only ones who had signed up for that time slot. Jaye was our tour guide and led us on a 1.5 hour sojourn into a literal bat cave out there in Vail, AZ. The $60 pp was money well-spent as we learned so much about Colossal Cave, stalagmites, stalactites, bats, the Civil Conservation Corps, and more while traversing six floors beneath the surface. The temperature of the cave was about 70 degrees and quite humid, something that my friends and I were surprised about since other caves in other places we've been to are usually cool and dry. I thought this tour was excellent. As this particular tour's name states, there are ladders that you have to climb up, about 8 of them (I lost count), some in very tight spaces. If you would like to do a shorter tour that is more kid-friendly, there is the Classic Cave tour, 45 minutes without the ladders. Don't forget to tip your guide!

Cave tour is great but closing the gate for campers at 4pm is ridiculous. Please consider something else like someone to close it later

Short road trip from socal to Tucson for the weekend, the cave was beautiful. Colossal cave tour guide Xander was very knowledgeable and led the group well. First time going into a cave, great to experience the nature and learn about its history. Do not use siri/Apple Maps to get to the address listed in the email confirmation btw for the tour. Route straight to the park or else you'll get stranded lol. Learned the hard way but luckily got help from other park employees getting back. The prickly pear soft serve was amazing especially on a hot day!

What a nice time :) Beautiful scenery, cooler temps than in Tucson, blessed by a thunderstorm while we were there. Every person we encountered here was very friendly. The nice lady running the drink and food area (wish I remembered her name. It started with an "L") was absolutely wonderful. My husband had Michelob ultra with a twist of prickly pear and lime.. didn't even know that was an option. He enjoyed it very much! I had the prickly pear margarita and it was delicious. We grabbed a basket of fries and they were tasty, too. Emilio took us on the tour of the cave and was such a good guide. Funny, knowledgeable and took time to answer questions. (Ah yes and has long luscious locks!) I wish we would have carried cash to tip. I feel that if guides left their cash app handles or had a QR code to scan, they'd get so many more tips. They definitely deserve them! The gift shop was beautiful and fairly priced. I really recommend this spot to anyone who may think of visiting :) it really was such a nice time.

Looking for something fun and interesting?! This is your spot! Beautiful surroundings and the tours and informative and interesting. Nothing hard with the basic tour. Slow walking pace with some tight spots, but nothing to worry about. Everything is well kept and even their bathrooms are nice and clean. A nice gift shop and a little food cart with drinks and snacks. Kids and adults are sure to love this experience. Definitely a bucket list experience.

Really cool experience. I was a little scared to walk this cave at first not knowing what to expect but it is a fun and simple walk. There are no crazy hills or real dark areas and there is a staff member leading the entire way. I must warn though that the smell is very strong due to the bats that live there and do their business there. 10/10 recommend!

Dalton is amazing.I took my 6 year old grandson on the walking tour. He was entertaining and informative and pointed out lots of images in the cave that were natural phenomenon. We will be back when he older for some of the tours that delve deeper into the cave.
