I've been here on 3 separate occasions and haven't been disappointed with their birria de chivo. If it's birria you're craving, this spot will do you well

You know that moment when it's 2:30 AM and you're stupid drunk but also starving and then you turn around and there's a food stand that has everything you could ever want? And that first bite makes your eyes go big and then you try to make really intense eye contact with the food for some reason because it's so good? And every bite is so good it almost makes you question your sanity?Well that's the feeling you get taking your first bite of birria from El Chivo de Oro except you can get it at regular daytime hours seven days a week. I had the birria con tortillas (hechas a mano!) and a birria taco, all on corn. It's so good my life might have changed. I ate until I was absolutely stuffed, and then I ate the rest in glorious pain anyway. I could not stop. I literally could not stop. I was in physical discomfort for hours because I forced myself to eat so much, and I still would go do it again this very second."You would be remiss not to eat here" is what I would say about a place that makes food so good that you would be missing out on something you will remember eating for the rest of your life. But this food was so indescribably good, I would go so far as to say you would not be living a complete and fulfilled life if you never got to try it.

This place is not a restaurant but a food truck with a plastic make shift tarp over some benches The tacos taste pretty good and are cheap. We got four tacos for $8Beef cheeksShrimpGoatBarbacoa Two with flour tortillas and two with corn. Both kinds of tortillas tasted homemade The shrimp taco had three deep fried shrimp. It was not worthy to order again The other tacos were all decentComes with a spicy red salsa, onions, cilantro and cabbageI dinged a star because the wait was very long and then they dropped our tacos, they never said a word (but since we ordered four tacos and they dropped four tacos and no one else was waiting for food, we knew it was our food) and then we had to wait even longer for our food. How hard could it have been for them to say, sorry, your order fell into the cooler, and it will be another 20 minutes ???!!! We had a nice morning hiking out at Santa Catalina Mountains despite the rain!

Wow, this is really good. The birria tacos are made with goat meat, which to me ends up being a little less tender and a little more lean than beef. This is fine because the goat ends up having way more flavor than the beef, and birria is pretty tender anyway. That birria juice is really good too, definitely packs a punch. Their red salsa is addicting, so spicy and leaving you with that delightful tingling feeling on your tongue. Tortillas are house made and great also. They also bring the whole toppings plate to you, which is good for me cause I like to overload on onions and cilantro and lime (no cabbage please).

A cart specializing in birria deserves applause, especially because they use goat rather than the mediocre stew-beef used by most restaurants. The birria tacos are powerfully tasty, though they were a little salty and the meat was a touch overcooked and dry in the center. But those failings were only small setbacks in an otherwise delicious spread of tacos. Chivo de Oro's service was excellent and their prices are very competitive. Though our party only had birria tacos, the menu is extensive and far more interesting than most other carts. Absolutely worth a trip for the tacos--the rest of the menu deserves exploring, too.Oh, and their cart is pulled by a defunct ambulance with a little goat and cow head icon on the side. That should be reason enough for a visit.

Chivo to me is Tucsons hidden gem on the south side of town. It was the first food I had in Tucson so maybe there is a soft spot for that, but Chivo delivers in many ways. They are incredibly friendly, very attentive and are always in this same location. The owner even gave me his number one day and said, "if you are in a hurry or running late, give me a call and we will have everything waiting for you." That's good service, that in my mind is what sets a good spot apart. While a food truck, with a canopy and tables laid out in a dirt lot can be off putting to some it definitely intrigues me. You grab your own soda or water, order, and sit down. Out comes a tray full of shredded lettuce, three different salsas, pickled onions, limes, and chiles. If someone is there table service is offered but you will have times where a holler from the window is how you are served. The goat and lenqua are mighty tasty but I am hooked on the chicken combinacion with corn tortillas. All of the tortillas are fresh and hand made. Some of the best corn tortillas I've tasted. You build your taco, and before you realize it a table of two can cover two tables with ingredients. It is always more than a filling portion but I can never leave without eating every last bite. It is a slight drive but once you are on irvington it is impossible to miss. This truck truly embodies what I believe to be great food at a great price. It should be noted that there are no bathrooms, and it is cash only. But, why would that deter you?

I went to eat here today, and I asked for a "Caldo de Cabeza" which I have never ordered before, although I have ordered the Tacos de Cabeza they sell, and "I don't leave anything on my plate".To my dismay, I found bones in the Caldo (Can be considered a stew since it has meat). It wasn't very apetizing, as I have never had bones in all the years I've eaten this dish in the U.S. and in Mexico.I'm usually a hearty consumer of Mexican Quisine, although after biting into five (5) bones in this one plate I'm not going to finish it.I won't be ordering it again.

Ambiance was good the service excellent. Erica was very sweet and attentive to our request and questions. The food was delicious. I hade the Quesobirria tacos and my friends had the Birria soup. Everything that was being served around us also looked delicious. The hot dogs that the table next to use ordered were huge and loaded with deliciousness.
