First Friday was awesome. Place itself is beautiful; even the bathrooms! Got to make caramel apples & pretzels, with different toppings. They were delicious and the chef was really friendly and helpful and patiently answered everyone's questions. They also had some live music and some bistro tables and chairs where you could sit and relax while listening to the band. We also got to see some really cool cyanotype prints from an artist named Jonathan Marquis. His work was really beautiful.Really happy this place has opened up and we're looking forward to taking some classes here!

I recently attended a meeting in the Community Room in the SAACA CATALYST space at Tucson Mall and I must say I was so impressed. Their space is tremendous and filled with beautiful local art pieces from sculpture to paintings. While I was there a local artist was working on a large original piece and could be seen while you just walk past in the mall. I took a tour after my meeting and WOW! The space has ten thousand square feet featuring: a teaching kitchen, a kiln, xerocraft, a stage, and a recording studio space all conveniently located at a mall with plenty of parking. Some of the neat things that stood out to me are the Bookman's Take a Book Leave a Book area and the fact that the Teaching Kitchen is painted with murals featuring edible plants found in the Sonoran Desert. CATALYST also offers rentals of their space as well as different classes open to the public. To check out the classes head to www.SAACA.org click CATALYST Arts & Maker Space and select "Classes and Community Projects." I am excited and will surely be back soon!
