Great employee artist at Casa made this!
Susie Huhn, Executive Director of Casa de Los Niños was planting flowers this morning. How awesome is that! Thank you.
Bit from medical record, which is a legal document.

I'm wondering if you still have counselors with children in rooms with no window. Reuben the counselors supervisor is aware of this and I'm wondering if you have changed this to be in compliance. This is the same counselor that I had concerns about which I reported to both my case worker and the supervisor and it was buried... beware.

Casa De Los Ninos is practically my neighbor so I stop in quite often. I feel like the have a great always changing selection and are also well organized. Their furniture is priced higher- but they aren't unfairly priced either. They have appliances as well! I love their board game and books sections.Place feels clean and the volunteers and staff are always very friendly!

My wife volunteered here for a couple of years and loved it. Very well organized, very loving place for neglected children, and a place of hope and help. We will always support Casa de Los Ninos. Check them out today!

I'm not giving them one star because it really depends on what services are needed and who you get assigned to, and I think they are probably helpful for some people. I think most of them have good intentions, but it's hit or miss with competency and productivity, many of them don't consider the big picture, and a lot of them are overzealous and assume they know better than parents, doctors, studies, experts, etc. The first NP handling medication management was great, then she disappeared, we got reassigned, and the next guy was incompetent and made dangerous recommendations, so we went elsewhere for medication management. The individual therapist spent the majority of the time playing card games with my daughter, talking about her own life, and pushing her own agenda, so we went elsewhere for therapy. We had two case workers in the 8-9 months we were there, and my daughter seemed to click with the second one. Eventually, we stopped trusting him and his director (who is apparently also the director of Sonora Behavioral Inpatient and having Casa clients referred to Sonora), and I sent him a text requesting to end his services and close our relationship with Casa and another text expressing my disappointment in how they'd handled my daughter's case, my concerns about the lasting effects it would have on her, and my concerns about the conflict of interest. At that point, I believe they filed a retaliatory complaint against me with DCS that contained a mixture of some of the actual situation and several completely fabricated details to try to make it seem as melodramatic as possible. As other reviewers have recommended, just be cautious and shop around before agreeing to receive services here, know that they may try to overstep, and that they may not make it easy to leave once you're in.

Casa de los Ninos is one of Tucson's top notch non-profits. The early focus was a children's shelter which continues to this day. Other programs have been added over the years and include behavioral health services for children and famlies, nurse visitation programs, and parent education and support. They have a foster care licensing program and Tucson is in such dire need of foster care families. If you are able to offer your home to a child, please think about calling them. I first utilized the services in the 1980's when I was a worker for Child Protective Services. I donate to the agency as I know the funding goes to support children's services and will be utilized to shore up the gaps for the Shelter or some of their other programs. With the holidays coming, I know there will be children that will spend the holidays at the Shelter and many other families who need holiday support. I plan on dropping off some toys and children's clothing over the next few weeks. If you are out shopping, please think about helping out.
