My friend heard about this place from Tucson Foodie so we decided to try it out during lunch. Easily spotted as a pink school bus, we parked nearby and walked over. We walked into the school bus and ordered our tacos. I ordered one carnitas taco, carne asada taco, and a birria taco. The owner kindly let me try their birria broth and it was fantastic and flavorful. Each taco was approximately $2.00 and we asked for corn tortilla. Their corn tortillas were homemade and cooked right after we ordered. The carnitas taco contains some fat and is filled with flavor. Definitely a favorite of mine. The birria taco contains a more soupy meat as it's meat that is cooked in a spicy stew. The carne asada was on the drier side for my liking. My friend ordered the mixto taco which consists of pork and some pork skin. I tried a bite and loved it. If you like a more chewy texture, get the mixto! The toppings bar contains the necessities for a delicious taco: a spicy red sauce, mild green sauce, cabbage, lime, pico de gallo, and a few more items.Definitely worth coming back to! Prices were excellent and tacos are delicious! If you're coming for lunch, come before 12 as it gets packed around noon and there's limited seating.

Ok...so, Michoacan style tacos served food-stand style out of an old, bright pink school bus in some random parking lot on the South side of Tucson. Wait, what?!?!?Believe the hype people, it's true! Before a recent round of golf, my buddy and I made our way down to this funky spot for a plate of awesomeness including tacos, beans and rice. He had read about the guys on a Tucson area foodie site and we knew it would be right up our alley. You enter the bus through the standard passenger door and make your way to the back where a cashier awaits your order and a dude (the owner, I'm suspecting) is grilling up a storm! There is an extensive salsa bar and coolers for drinks...simple, perfect.I ordered both tacos on corn tortillas...the only way to go. The carnitas taco was fantastic with shredded (and grilled) pork on a freshy made soft tortilla. The mixto taco (both shredded meat and fried pork skin added in) was slightly different in texture and chew; I liked the carnitas version better. The salsa bar had a wide array of sauces, various greens, pico de gallo and even some chili oil. Throw in some homemade rice and refried beans and you're in business! And, the food (for two people) cost less than $15...score!What a great experience and top-notch food to boot. We will most certainly be back next time I roll through town.

I was a smidge nervous since the last review was about a year ago... is it still great, is it still there? YES and YES. This is no food truck, this is no restaurant... this is an awesome pink bus that serves up some delicious carnitas and carne! We walked onto the bus and they have seating on each side, you walk to the back and put in your order. The guy behind the register was super nice and friendly. Everything was made fresh, including the tortillas, pico de gallo and salsas. I had a carnitas taco, carne asada taco and a simple quesadilla. The hubs had some of the same plus the mixed meat tacos. We LOVED it all.

They are pretty good. My only complaint is the inconsistency in which they are open. I have waited quite some time to get some carnitas from this spot. The pink bus stays parked around the corner from my home and I frequently wait to see it. A few weeks ago, I ordered some carnitas and boy was I in for a treat. I had such a good meal. I had the carnitas, the juice, a tangerine soda, and some tortillas. The meat was good. It was all very good.

So yes, this is the pink bus place! They are located on 22nd just west of Swan, you can't miss it! You walk up the little stairs and alas, you are inside a school bus! There are small counters and chairs that line each side of the bus where you would sit to eat and you order straight ahead. The kitchen is actually located behind the order counter in a pretty tight space. But the food they were able to pump out was good. Not the best I've had as far as makeshift taco stands go, but solid! I ordered the plato which included your choice of meat (birria, carne asada or carnitas) along with beans and rice and your choice of tortillas. I ordered 1/2 birria and 1/2 carne asada since I couldn't choose. The beans and rice were really good. The beans had lots of cheese so that was a nice surprise! The meats were not great. My birria was a little dry and really didn't have much flavor, same for the carne asada. I added salt, lime and salsa but I still didn't love it. But the best part was the corn tortillas, they seemed like they were handmade because they were thicker and a little funny shaped which I don't mind cause they tasted fantastic. The plato only costs $7.50 so that was not bad at all. We went during lunch and the service was pretty fast. Try out this place, I'm sure they will get better with time!

We took our school bus obsessed 3 year old for her birthday today. She was pee her pants excited to get on the big pink bus to eat and Carnitas los Gordos did not disappoint! The food was amazing! The owners were super friendly and kind. The seating was comfortable and the inside of the bus was nice and cool. I just can't say enough good things about this big pink bus. My daughter and I had the carnitas which was absolutely delicious and my husband got asada tacos which he thought were great as well. The salsa bar had the freshest selection of salsa and veggies. The food was so good that we ate it before snapping any photos. Overall we had a really great experience and will definitely be back to support this business. Thank you so much Carnitas los Gordos for making our kiddo's day on her birthday! (She did not stop talking about getting to eat on your bus all evening!)

If you are looking for some superb quality carnitas and just need to satisfy that need immediately, this is the place. The fact that the carnitas elaborated here are 'Michoacan' style, says it all. The carnitas tacos just have this unique taste, and when combined with the fresh condiments offered, you get a taste of authentic Michoacan-style carnitas. But you do not have to stop at the carnitas: their carne asada is very good and when combined with handmade, freshly cooked corn tortillas, prepare yourself for a second round. You can now splurge on carnitas and carne asada at the Pink Bus of Deliciousness (the PBD) on 22nd Street west of Swan.
