The restaurant decor was so outdated and the food was mundane and terrible. We ended up with food poisoning and my elderly relatives had to get a breathing treatment as her condition worsened rapidly. The Dr told us the salads there likely had salmonella and were not thrown away due to the recalls. Upon checkout, I noticed itchy painful blisters on my arms, fingers and the side of my face. A 2nd visit to the Dr because of this stay. Apparently some type of pest bit me so many times that one knuckle on my hand swelled up turning purple. That Dr told me had I waited any longer to come in, and not gotten on the special antibiotics, I would have nerve damage and lost use of that finger. I have not experienced such a run down place touting itself as high quality. Beware.

Just checked in today for a 4- night stay. Front desk staff were amazing at check- in and we got an upgrade (yay!). We pre-booked a chakra yoga class for 4 pm. When we arrived at the class--15 minutes early-- there was a sign blocking the door that said the class was at capacity/ no more spots available. I guess pre- booking on the app means nothing. Turned away, we decided to get our lockers and robes at the spa as we have several appointments booked over the next few days. Spa attendant was very nice, but handed me a robe that was meant for a Barbie. I requested the largest robe they have and was given one, but let's be clear, there was no way it was going to fit over my butt. Yes, I am a plus size person (2X) , but I am finding it hard to believe that I am the fattest person to ever come here. What now? Guess I will need to wear the spa robe I brought from home-- yeah, I won't stand out!! I am getting the feeling that Canyon Ranch may not be size inclusive. Too bad as we were thinking about getting a membership. More later....

The Restaurant people Chris and all the servers there outstanding. All the doctors and LEC team Marcie and everyone else. Mike Seemens and Jake amazing. Made me feel like a Rock Star. But the main thing was the level of service and the things that I learned at Canyon Ranch Saved my life and madeMe a better person soI will definitely be back in 6 months. Thank you all for the wonderful experience and God Bless.

I love Canyon Ranch for a whole host of reasons... it's incredibly grounding, the wide range of spa/health services offered allow anyone to rest/recharge/relax on their terms and (my personal favorite) -- the food is delicious! The salmon tacos, mesquite flour pancakes & beet salad are among some of my favorites (all featured in the photos below). If you're considering a place to get away from it all, I cannot recommend Canyon Ranch Tucson enough. Their other properties are equally as lovely, but there's something special about the peace & tranquility offered by the desert landscape. The entire team at the ranch genuinely cares about your experience, and it's why I opted to become a member years ago. Thank you, Canyon Ranch!

I dreamed of coming here for years, so let's just say the expectations were quite high. And not only were these expectations exceeded, it was quite a pleasant surprise after reading the negative reviews I've seen here. This solo trip was a gift to myself as a new empty-nester. From the moment I landed in Tucson, every single thing I needed was taken care of, from being met at baggage claim by the driver, to a great, quick check-in process, even having my bags delivered directly to my room while I had lunch at the Grill. I lucked out and came during Dance Week - I danced six hours a day with professional choreographers. Just a dream come true. I meant to lie low, but I ended up meeting a lot of really terrific women I'm keeping in touch with even after my stay. It dawned on me about four days into my stay that no one ever says no at Canyon Ranch. I needed a few things from the drugstore and the next thing I knew, I was being driven in a beautiful Lincoln SUV down the mountain to CVS. I was hungry one night after the restaurant closed (time change, lots of calorie burning, etc), and they graciously put together a snack for me from the kitchen. My room was immaculate and so thoughtfully appointed. I took a break from all screen time, including TV, and the little sound machine by the bed was great, as were the amenities like the spa quality products in the room. I took advantage of the art journaling class, BINGO (I won $150 at the gift shop!), and walking around the grounds every morning. I absolutely loved that EVERYTHING was included, even tips. I prepaid before I went, so I could just enjoy myself. I had 12 included services, and I added the Desert Ritual, which was just divine, and Clear + Brilliant, which was way cheaper there than in my hometown. I was super busy all the time, but it was all fun stuff, so I didn't mind being so scheduled. The scheduling in advance was really helpful - the advisors were all wonderful and made great recommendations. The highlight of my stay was the spiritual and psychological work I did. I had a lot of grief to work through, and I realized that in trying to be everything to everyone in my life, I had neglected my spirit. The healers at CR are truly amazing. They brought out things in me - some painful - that I didn't know were there. And they kept me safe in the experience and helped me to work through so much. Some pro tips: drink their signature sport drink - it's so refreshing and downright addictive. When they would temporarily run out, I panicked haha. In the spa, go for the signature treatments, such as the Desert Ritual, Coconut Melt, etc. The regular massages were fine, but I can get that back home. Their signature treatments are truly special and unique. I also had the best facial I've ever had. The Double U Cafe had some of the nicest service I've ever experienced, and for a more formal dinner, the Grill was wonderful as well. Be nice to the staff - they work HARD to provide excellent service. Enjoy some time in the relaxation room at the spa - one of my favorite places. You don't have to bring many toiletries - they provide just about everything in the spa and in your room, and they have great, high quality sunscreen by the pool including little cups if you want to take some back to your room with you. Complete the Spirit Path book by sitting in each of the recommended areas - truly magical. Visit the turtles in Peace Park. Talk to people. Enjoy the activities, even the ones you're not sure about - CR is all about trying new things! I even made fire one morning! I just want to thank everyone at Canyon Ranch for the wonderful stay. I can't wait to go back. Canyon Ranch is the original and although it has its competitors, I don't regret my decision for a minute.

I'm writing this review both out of a sense of sadness, and as a warning to those who may be contemplating a visit to Canyon Ranch Tucson. Canyon Ranch is a legendary name when it comes to destination spas and wellness resorts - for years, it's been a hot spot for everyone from celebrities to first-time wellness-seekers to health aficionados, alike. On a personal note, over the years, my mom and I enjoyed several mother-daughter weekend getaways to CR in Lenox, MA. Each experience was nothing short of amazing - and so, CR quickly became my "paradise." With such fond memories of Canyon Ranch Lenox, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to travel to Canyon Ranch Tucson for the first time with my husband. It seemed only natural that the experience would be just as wonderful - if not better - in the place where it all began. Sadly, I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, we were escorted to our bug-infested room with furniture so dusty we could write our names on it, and an AC unit which worked mildly, at best. We'd been promised a room upgrade by "Reservations Consultant" Doug C, but alas, no such upgrade was honored at check in. We were never really shown the property, or given any insider "tips" - and had it not been for my prior experiences at CR Lenox, we likely would've missed out on just about everything (e.g. pre-booking services and dinner, activities, etc.)While our petite and dusty hotel room was uncomfortably reminiscent of that of a run-down Motel 6 - it was the poor service and food that really left us not only dissatisfied, but thoroughly disillusioned with the whole experience. With few exceptions, the staff was unprofessional, unpleasant, and wholly inattentive. Restaurant servers and kitchen staff frequently made mistakes in taking and executing orders - often presenting "flawed" food (e.g. a partially frozen peach tart, etc.) - but attempts to remedy the situation were virtually nil. Rather, servers would just apologize for the error...and then scurry away, with no real solution or fix. In fact, I think I heard the phrase "I'm sorry" more often than "What would you like to order?"And what a disappointment those meals were! CR is known for serving healthful, delicious meals - but this time, the food was unlike any CR cuisine I'd experienced before. First, the menu was far more limited than I'd experienced at Lenox - there, pre-COVID and pre-ownership switch, the dinner menu changed nightly, over the course of a week. During our stay in Tucson, by contrast, the dinner menu was the same each night, with limited options. The food, itself, was tolerable, at best - but delicious, consistent, or notably healthful, it was not. In the main dining room (which was far too reminiscent of a Denny's for the price of a Michelin-starred restaurant), they set up a "pasta bar" for dinner where guests could order their own "customized" pasta dish. During our visit, orders got switched, stolen, and otherwise unexplainably delayed - some waiting up to an hour - for a simple plate of precooked pasta to be warmed together. All in all, a disastrous execution, indeed. The rooms were cleaned with a lick and a promise - the same insects, dust spots, floor stains, and cobwebs that were present on our first night remained untouched throughout our stay. Even the spa services were far from relaxing - my poor husband was groaning from pain throughout the couples massage we were hoping to enjoy together. With the exception of Brad in the Outdoor Sports Department, not a single employee cared to check-in on us during our stay - it was as though they didn't want to hear it, because they knew how flawed the place was. Frankly, for the hefty five-star fee of ~$2000/night, it's far from unreasonable to expect better, more attentive service - not to mention better lodging, and better meals. Since our time at CR Tucson, my husband and I have thought long and hard about why Canyon Ranch would, in fact, make some of the choices they've made - from their "chase us down if you want anything or need help" approach, to the "serve yourself" pasta bar at dinner every night, to the low-functioning AC units in the rooms, the desultory housekeeping, to the cheap plastic water bottles they're still giving to guests after health experts long ago agreed that plastic isn't the most healthful material to drink out of, to the meager, largely overwhelmed and unhelpful staff - and it all comes back to this: it's cheap. Save a dime, and charge a dollar - it seems to be Canyon Ranch's motto. I'm not sure if this disappointing experience is due to COVID, the pre-COVID ownership switch, or if there are other behind-the-scenes reasons for excusing such an unacceptable series of incidences. Here's what I do know, however - CR will only live off it's former legacy for so long, and if guests experience what we "endured" during our recent stay, the day will not be long until the gates for CR are closed for good.

Canyon Ranch provides the most restorative environment for anyone. Whether you are simply looking for some rest and relaxation, or you are going through some rough personal challenges (relationship problem, grief, substance dependence, health crisis), it has something to offer for everyone. The staff is highly trained and passionate about what they do. The ground itself is beautiful and inspiring in its own right. The food is fresh and healthy, and the portion size is satisfying without tempting the client into over-consuming.They thought of everything--water and snack for the hiking trips, and even sunscreen and umbrella whenever you need them. The price tag may be shocking at first, but once you experience the pampering, you'll appreciate what you paid for.

You would think a place like Canyon Ranch would value serenity and quietness, and I came here to have a relaxing quiet experience. But instead almost every day I heard the loud annoying sounds of leaf blowers!! How does a place like Canyon Ranch, especially with the rates they charge, not have some kind of restriction on noisy, gas powered leaf blowers? It's all pretty ridiculous and I can't believe they've never given thought to all of the noise created by their endless yard crews! There are electric leaf blowers which are so much more quiet, but I guess enjoying the beautiful nature and quiet are not part of the Canyon Ranch experience.I feel like I spent all of this money to stay at construction site with so much noise. They have a nice trail that goes through the property and down to the creek, but the few times I took it I always ended up going by noisy, stinky yard crews and just getting irritated. It was clear to me that quietness and serenity are NOT part of the Canyon Ranch experience so beware if that is what you are seeking!

Absolitely wonderful stay with great staff, curated experiences, interesting guests, and amazing hospitality. I am only awarding 4 stars because they prohibit dogs over 35 pounds. What's the difference? Is my completely silent, mellow, 65 pound dog, who doesn't shed any less enjoyable than a yappy Chihuahua?
