Lauren K. "I'm updating my review to say that the new location is bigger and better than the last location (that I had reviewed)! The footprint of the store is huge! It feels even more spacious and inviting because there's lots of room to walk around aisles and look at things now. The store layout flows well and makes sense. There's lots of varieties of stuff from clothing, books, sporting goods, household cleaners/appliances, tchotchkes, to furniture and more. The quality of the items vary but most stuff is in fine condition. The parking lot is also nice and large and way less chaotic than the last location could be at times. The staff is friendly, as usual, and the overall experience at the HSSA Thrift Store remains pleasant and fun. With the added bonus of finding treasures!"

Everything is spotless and so clean. I love it so much. This place has great things that are not all tore back or gross looking. All furniture is so well taken care of. This was my first time here today. Also great sales so watch for those"

Betsy B. "I noticed the sign that everything was half off so had to check the store out. There was a pretty wide selection of clothing, men's, women's and children's. They had some limited books and shoes and a variety of things you might need or didn't know you needed. The clothing was divided by size which was helpful. There were some toys and games. Workers were pleasant. The prices were very reasonable and at half price, a steal. I found a book and a necklace. It was laid out with room to get around and there was room to try something on. Even without the half price sale, prices were pretty good. Worth a look."

Jennifer L. "This is probably the best thrift store I've ever shopped at, which is surprising because it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Green Valley doesn't have a lot going on, but this is one heck of a store. You can find furniture, appliances, computers, dishes, gas grills, gardening equipment, electronics, sporting goods (golf supplies, etc.), toys, books, clothing, and just about everything. It's a huge space, and spans outdoors. The store is only open from 9 am - 12 noon, and locals line up to get in early to find the best deals. The only thing that seemed in short supply was baby and children's clothing. It seems that the majority of the population in Green Valley is retired snowbirds who play golf and enjoy the mild Arizona winters."

This store is where it is happening!! The organization and the cleanliness of this store were superb. I thought the prices were right on for the quality of things I wanted. I bought all of my sister in-laws baby items for her. The staff was very knowledgable and very helpful. I will be back for myself in the near future. Willa A. "This thrift shop just south of downtown on Stone Ave. is a true hidden gem. They keep very limited hours (just Thurs, Fri., Sat. 11am-3pm) so I felt like I was walking into a treasure trove that rarely gets shopped! It's also a lot bigger than it would appear from the street. Around the corner is the Treasure Shop, also run by the Symphony Women's Association, which has the fancier furniture and antiques but Second Fiddle has tons of more reasonably priced housewares, clothing, and knick-knacks. LOTS of great women's clothing, purses, and shoes in many styles from vintage to modern, with more emphasis on the 60s, 70s, 80s. There is a dressing room and the women running things were sweet and friendly. Standard prices for most items are posted around the store and at the register, but make sure you bring cash as they do not have a card reader! Proceeds seem to support Symphony education and outreach programs, so you can feel good about spending your cash."

Eleana H. "I sometimes stop in here during my lunch breaks... this small little thrift store is located in the heart of downtown. Most of the stuff here is really worn out.. but every once in a while you can find some nice things.. just the other day I saw a old vintage dooney and bourke leather briefcase for $18.00.. I would have bought it but I just didn't need it. I have scored a nice sweater here for $3.00 as well.. the ladies who work here are very sweet.. but don't expect too much customer service because the store is so small, you are most likely able to help yourself out. This place is CASH only.. last time I checked out I lucked out with my parking change.. because they don't take plastic."

The girl at the register was wonderful, but the management was.. hmm... not. I expect to be treated like a valued customer and that was FAR from what happened. I had the car loaded with donations and after spending an hour in the place (nearly choking the whole time from the smell), I left and made my donation elsewhere."

Bear's Vintage is your spot! My family and I had a blast looking through all of their vintage treasures. Most of the items are priced as vintage, not necessarily the normal thrift store prices. But still seem to be great steals for what you're getting. The owner seems open to a bit of haggling too. Items included: kitchenware, luggage, toys, art, license plates, furniture, and all kinds of other vintage do-dads. Located in an odd spot- we drove by it a few times before we finally saw sign on the chain link fence. Don't give up, it's worth the hunt if you're into vintage thrift. They have ab active Facebook page, so if you're looking for something in particular you can probably message them to check."

Krys G. "I was told this was a high end thrift shop. In my opinion it was not. Items were priced ridiculously high. The store was huge and had a lot of different sections to it. I browsed through what was supposed to be brand name clothing. I wasn't able to see any high end brands. Most of the clothes were worn, pilly and out of date. Not vintage. Other areas of the store were nicely organized. I wasn't able to find anything high end, high quality like the store advertises online. Looks like a lot of seniors work or volunteer there. The ones I encountered were very nice. I read that the proceeds go to charity. Probably good to hit this place on 50% off sales. Otherwise I don't think it's worth it."

Christian Family Care

Dan J. "Oh Family Attic, I do so love your quaint atmosphere and half price "first Saturday of the month" special. My mom comes into town about once a year and always "takes me out" shopping to thrift stores. She is a queen of frugal finds and befriends everyone from the cashier at the grocery store to the maids who clean her $30 a night dive hotel room. And so we found Family Attic a few years back and I keep coming back. Sure, you can close your eyes and toss a rock and probably hit a Goodwill store here in Tucson - but stop throwing rocks and come give Family Attic a try. (I do enjoy Goodwill as well - but really, no rock throwing. It was an analogy - no need to hit someone and turn it into a eulogy.)So the store isn't huge - it's a medium sized thrift store with a decent selection of clothing only. This is one of those thrift stores you go to to find a great find at a great price. I snoop around the games section (with three younger boys, I like to buy a lot of games and the $20-$25 range of Toys-R-Us just gets a bit steep). I've found a Ben Ten board game (went well since they knew the tv show) and a Pokemon pinball game once. You will, of course, find whatever people have donated so there's no guarantee - but finding something that you really wanted (without even knowing it) is the *joy* of a thrift store without the pressure and awkwardness of garage sales (at least, that's how I sometimes feel while perusing others' items in their driveway). The furniture selections are usually very nice, and they have many good quality home decorations (glassware, candlestick holders, lamps). The book selection is very limited, but again - I have managed to find two really good finds. Not bragging - just pointing out that this is the kind of store where you can get a $40 collection for $5. And if you shop on the first Saturday of the month, you can get it for $2.50 as everything except furniture and jewelry is half price. That's the only time I shop there anymore, but it's something I've come to look forward to. The staff is *always* nice as well. Overall, I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area and if you like this sort of "really cheap, might get a lucky find" thrift store. If you want a larger selection you're better off at one of the larger Goodwill stores. But Family Attic is still a wonderful place. (Four stars only for the slightly smaller/medium sized selection.)"

This is not your thrift store where someone already found something special and marked it up accordingly but rather to occasionally visit to see what has been recently given another chance to appreciate. When you are up for something away from assistance league, or another top notch but higher priced thrift store, Treasures is a place to find great items and through kind people working there to help if you need it. Also, watch the board on your right, behind the counter, going in - you can find what is marked 25-75 percent off that day. Making deals steals and easily feeling good about saying keep the change and pay it forward. Lastly, Wednesday is for you veterans and well aged folks with extra percentage off."

Local told us to go early because of Crowds (I think they was thinking Pre-Covid) it was Sat and we got there around 1100am. Started to pick up a little when we left around 130. I can see potential as the space is huge, got my steps in just walking around. There was a Kid area with some rides, lot of food places, and even has a stoned in Koi Pond. Restrooms were plentiful and pretty clean. Spoke to a few vendors, everyone was pretty friendly & polite. Made a couple of purchases, some from the booths, and from tables. Picked up some cool items, what you would expect from a Swap Meet. We will have to try at night and maybe after Covid settles down. Plenty of Parking, and signage insisting on Masks being worn. Overall, not a bad place to kill a couple hours & maybe find some deals."

I've heard of MOM for years and always wanted to check it out and just never did. Now with nothing but time on my hands I finally made it a priority to go. The whole set up is simple and very easy but it does get crazy! Go early because the line builds up quickly and I know they have recently implemented a newer system to try and detour the traffic from building up along 22nd. Anyway you snake your way through to the front and a friendly volunteer asks how many portions (?) you would like - it is $10/60lbs of whatever they have. After collecting your money they mark your car and you inch your way to the volunteers that load up your vehicle and you're off! Every week you can check Facebook for a list of what they will be offering so that makes it easy to see if it's something you can use or not. The boxes are pre made so there isn't any 'shopping', you get what you get. On the times I've gone I received all veggies of tomatoes, squash, grapefruits, green beans and then some sage but I have seen them offering milk and cheese sometimes too. It is an amazing deal that gets you A LOT of vegetables, saving them from being wasted, and the money goes towards a non profit that can continue helping those in need. Everyone is really friendly and they work quickly to keep the line moving, so grateful for Market on the Move!"

Tammy L. "SUPER happy we wandered this way! What a WONDERFUL shop to find! We've seen their signs on La Cholla, and finally had time to follow them down N. Highway Drive to 4430 (by Wetmore). This place is so well laid out, and there are little rooms that seem to go on forever! There's something unique and unexpected around every turn. Who knew you could find vintage jewelry, classic neon and backlit bar signs, and... wait for it... an excellent condition prairie frontier child's gown that I would guess dates in the late 1800's or early 1900's! The owner has the eye of a museum curator and everything is displayed super appealingly, so budget accordingly, lol. While showing me items I had asked after (carnival glass, vintage games and novelty items, early 1900's furniture), the owner shared that they source their unique offerings through the purchase of entire collections and/or estates so they can keep the pricing really accessible to a casual collector like me. There were also some beautiful art objects including an immaculate condition, 60's? 70's? vintage, very large frame Japanese wall hanging of five running horses, created with inlaid shell and precious stones. The price was just so reasonable, I almost talked myself into taking it home, but my place has so little wall space and absolutely no location to do such an artwork justice. It's a showstopper! I'll bet if I went back this weekend, it's already sold (did I mention the great prices)? I did treat myself to a natural antler-point (likely from Alaska) hand carved/cord hand woven necklace which is absolutely beautiful. It was in exceptional condition and clearly artisan-made, so I definitely scored a deal on that! Whenever I make this kind of new-shop discovery, I'm always conflicted between wanting to keep it a secret so I have the best chance at the greatest deals VS wanting to share it to make sure I can shop here a long time because the business does well and can afford to stick around. In this instance, the owners are so talented at consistently finding the good stuff, I think I'm safe letting the Yelp-savvy know about them. But I call Dibs on the vintage 'Lucky Cat' stuff! I can't wait for my next "discovery run" to Showcase Flippin It (silly shop name, AWESOME shopping)!"
