"The mesquite bbq sauce was outstanding. I ordered the 4 piece bbq. I got brisket, pulled pork, tritip and hot links with four sides. This is enough food for at least four meals. It came with 4 sides. Everyone was a home run. Perfectly cooked with a great Smokey flavor. I got onion rings as one of the sides and they were just like I like them. Great batter that didn't fall apart. I took the beans and Mac and cheese sides home with me.My friend got the catfish special and ate it all. Said it was one of the best catfish dish he ever had and it came with coleslaw and ff. He did mention that the ff were a little soggy but good.The person taking orders was friendly and very helpful. She explained the daily special and said it changed daily ( the daily specials are on their website ).We ate on their patio because their small dining room was full. Very nice patio. My friend said that the restroom was very clean and heated on this brisk day. I would highly recommend it for fans of Texas style mesquite bbq."

We previously had called to get reservations, but since we only had a party of 4, reservations were not an option. (They require a party size of 6 or more for a reservation.) They quoted us a 45 minute wait, but after about 20 minutes we got the text that our table was ready! We got seated in Dorian's section and he had the best recommendations creating a fantastic experience! We had the burnt ends and the baseball steak served with the hot stone! It was all so good! We will definitely be back the next time we are visiting parents in the Casa Grande area! Hope we end up in Dorian's section again, too! Cheers!"

I love that it's tucked away off the road, the bright twinkling lights outside, the people working are super friendly and the BBQ is amazing! The brisket was juicy, had some burnt ends (my fav), good smoky flavor. They have 5 kinds of BBQ sauce to use (my fav was the Arizona Sweet Heat). "This place is truly one of a kind. And it's Important to know what to expect before you go: writing all over the walls, like everywhere! License plates from across the country strung up on the ceiling. A casual and regulars heavy type of vibe. A gravel parking lot. An outdoor grill. Indoor and outdoor seating with live music offered in both settings. Delicious food, that's priced on the slightly higher end, in my opinion, but worth it. The first time I came here, we had a terrible experience. After ordering our food, the server came back and said they were all out of sirloins, which is what everyone in our party ordered. We left without eating anything and didn't return for about 5 or 6 years. We recently moved really close and decided to give it another shot as it always seems crowded. We've been a few times now and they've definitely made up for our initial bad impression. I typically go with the sirloin and it's been seasoned and cooked perfectly. It comes with a simple house salad and unlimited beans, garlic toast, and salsa. All is so yummy! Service has been friendly and accommodating. I know we will be back!"

Anyway the pork was more shredded than chopped like the picture but that was good for me. It came with 2 types of barbecue sauce packets but there is already their rich and sassy sauce on it. I did add more sauce though. Meat was pretty tender but a bit dry. Extra sauce was appreciated. Pickle slices were spicy and good. Coleslaw was good. Overall was good but nothing special."

On our 3rd visit, we went with another couple in tow. The service was lacking. The personable young man waiting on us, kept us waiting (see what I did there?), wandering past our table several times without checking in on us, even with empty cups and plates placed out in front like a placard requesting service.However, even the best places and people have their off times and moments. If the service lacks in similar manner again, I'll address it directly with the waiter, but we were also busy having fun, so nothing tragic, plus the food was still excellent.Here's a newsflash people: HS-BBQ isn't in the NY Times 5-star dining guide for AZ. As another reviewer aptly stated: this isn't the kind of BBQ place one tends to think of when they hear BBQ. This should be obvious to anyone driving past the place, or at least once they walk through the front door-even if they're not from Texas. It's a local, casual, come-as-you-are, eclectic family restaurant that serves very good to excellent food and at very reasonable prices. There are no pretensions here, unless you bring them with you. Forget the reviews of the apparently 'exhausted snob', the rambling, nearly illiterate 'expert waitress' and those reviews that have the depth of of "The food wasn't good", "service was bad" or "the eggs were terrible." This is how a 1st grader would describe their experience.What does "terrible" even mean to you? What if you like your eggs runny and they had the audacity to actually cook them? The word of the day here is: "context". Forgive the Chuckleheads saying things like "These people will be gone like every other person who owned the building the past 10 years". Chuck has apparently never learned to count beyond the fingers of one hand; HS-BBQ has been at this location going on 7 years, genius.Then, there's the Texan food critic. A man with the exacting expectations of a high profile Texas BBQ judge, a true Texan that expects competition level standards at any restaurant with any BBQ offering.Yet is suspiciously also an expert naming KFC/commercial BBQ sauce by taste alone. At least he was descriptive."
