A trip to Boothill Graveyard is an absolute must if you're visiting Tombstone. I've been several times when hosting friends and family, and it never fails to leave an impression.Boothill Graveyard speaks to the violent and complicated history of the Old West, famously tied to events like the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. One of the most striking aspects of this site is that approximately 90 graves belong to unknown individuals. This is a somber reminder of the hardships and untold stories of that era.On my last visit, a staff member shared an intriguing story about the site being haunted, even showing me a photograph as evidence. While I don't typically believe in ghosts, the story was captivating and made the experience even more memorable. If this type of thing interests you they have recently begun some sort of haunted tours that they conduct at nightWhether you're a history buff or simply curious, Boothill Graveyard offers a unique glimpse into the past.

We wanted to check out the graveyard at the end of the day after touring the museums and watching the shows/reenactments/ and arrived at 5:15pm. The hours apparently differ on various platforms, e,g., Google, yelp, etc. and we showed up 15 minutes after they closed even though the website we were using indicated they were open and the door to the gift shop was unlocked. The gentleman sitting at the front greeted us in a very unwelcoming way with a loud and aggressive, "What?!???!?" when we walked in. I'm not sure I've ever been greeted in this way upon entering any type of establishment. He then told us that they were closed and we could "look over the fence if we wanted to see the graveyard." Definitely check out the pamphlet with the list of those buried in the graveyard and causes of death. Such interesting times back then!

Cool piece of 1800s history. A great self guided tour after experiencing Tombstone itself. The mix of marked and unmarked graves with some details of the folks buried there is interesting.

Arizona 01-2024 Tony and I went to Tombstone Arizona and while there we visited Boothill Graveyard. Now, I have never paid to go to a cemetery and I'm not going to start now. So Tony and I just looked over the fencing. The reason these people can charge is because this graveyard was abandoned. They purchased and put a fence around and started charging. In most cases that's unlawful..anyway, I wouldn't give into the tourist trickery of it.I did buy a magnet though for my fridge collection I recommend you stopping if in the area, your choice if you pay or just look over the fence #bucketlisttriplisatony2024

It's a tourist trap thing but fun. Friendly folks who run it and of courses the obligatory gift shop with all kinds of fun things to buy. Would suggest going early in the day. No shade.

The woman who took our money was friendly enough but simply insisted on us telling her where we heard about Tombstone. I mean, who hasn't heard of Tombstone? There are some clever epitaphs but I definitely would never return. Ok, it's something I can say I've been to, but I wouldn't drive halfway across the country to see it (like we did). Also, their website was wrong about the entrance price. It was $6 each not $3 each.

Referring to the number of men who died with their boots on, it is one of the best-known of the Boothill Graveyards and is one of the more popular tourist attractions in Tombstone. The cemetery was founded in 1878 and mostly stopped accepting new burials in 1883 after another cemetery was built in town. This is a must stop to see the final resting place of the men killed in the O.K. Corral shootout. As well, the humorous marker for "Lester Moore."Well worth the entrance fee which includes a brochure with a map of the burials. I suggest you go as soon as they open, before the heat of the day and before the dust gets kicked up by the shuffling feet. And while this is not an active cemetery, it is still a cemetery so be respectful. No shouting, no running, no animals.[Round number review 17500 overall - 86 in Arizona - 1018 of 2022.]

If you have any doubt about what a tough time the 1880s must've been, reading the re-rendered markers in the Boothill Cemetery seals the deal -- the lynched, murdered, and more reside here, including the infamous McLaury/Clanton crew from the shootout at the O.K. Corral. Hard not to wince at racial labeling on certain graves, but also a reminder of the real history of the area.

You have to go. As kitschy as it is there is plenty of good history right under your feet. The $3 admission is a steal. You get an informative brochure and the gatekeeper was more than happy to engage with historical anecdotes. We spent an hour and it flew by.
