Strictest, but most organized and filled with the fittest people I have encountered at any gym! The gym splits up into 5-6 different sections/rooms. They have a racquetball court, a giant basketball court, 1 cardio room, 1 cycling room, 1 free weight room, 1 mixed free weight/weight machines/cardio, 1 mixed cardio and weight machines, 2 crossfit areas. It will take a lil bit of time to get a hang of where everything is at, but after that, you're golden. They offer everything and more. There are rules that you're supposed to follow (no cellphone usage, dress code, etc...), but unless you're obnoxious or just outright ridiculous with what you're wearing to the gym, no one would say anything to you.Everyone is very nice and courteous. The only gym I have been to, that every single person have the courtesy to put back the weights where they got them from. You will not see any dumbbell or weight plate laying around where they're not supposed to.Best MWR gym I have been to! And best gym over all!

It is free to use on post, of course it closes at 9pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends, and is closed or has limited hours for holidays. Overall the equipment is fairly well maintained.I love M/W Spin classes, the instructor is crazy, 2X4 is what he is called on the calendar. The only real down fall is it is super packed about the 5pm hour, and there are times with the heat in the room containing all of the tredmills is so intense, the walls sweat...I still go and enjoy it though!

I really like this gym. They have a lot of classes from spinning to aerobics. I wouldn't advise going between 6-8 am or 4-7 pm because it tends to be a bit crowded and there is usually a wait for weights.

I enjoy using this gym. There is plenty of equipment and classes. Plus it's located on post which can be quite convenient.I have really enjoyed the yoga classes with Devin. I only wished they offered more class times for yoga.

Barnes Field House is one of the gyms on Fort Huachuca. There's also a small adjoining building called the Family Fitness Center(FFC) across the street. Behind Barnes is a very well maintained football field and track. The facilities are clean and towels are available at the front desk. Barnes is rather large but if you take the time to wander around, you'll find multiple basketball courts, racquet ball, weight and cardio rooms. And a functional fitness room (scroll down for more on that). Barnes and the FFC offer yoga, biggest loser, Zumba, aerobics and spinning. See their website for the current schedule. I love Yoga with Dana. Her class is intense! Check the bulletin board for the many activities they host. They include out of town trips to professional sports games, intramural sports and local races. The ones hosted by MWR tend to be free for soldiers and very affordable for others. I just signed up for the First Time Tri and it was $10. For my fellow crossfitters, there's a functional fitness room in the back. It's normally located in the back to the right of the basketball court but due to remodeling, it's currently located in the very last racquetball court. The equipment is decent. There is 1-deadlift platform, 3-45 lb. bars, 1-35 lb. bar, a C2 rower, a variety of jump platforms, 1 set of rings, 1 pull up bar, a rope climb machine, a GHD sit up machine, sand bags and a number of medicine balls (but none over 12 lbs.). There's also a lot of those big exercise balls and sit up mats. It's tough to WOD because after 3 pm, the room is pretty packed. The lack of equipment also makes it tough to do an entire work out without someone trying to use the same equipment. There are also your typical globo gymmers trying to work on their abs with the exercise balls taking up precious space. My biggest complaint is that there aren't any pull up bands to help me do assisted pull ups. I would've rated this place 4 stars. Deducting 1 star for lack of equipment and space for functional fitness.

I love having a free gym close to the office. I think the hours are decent - they open at 5am on week days which is great. The Monday - Thursday morning spin class is AWESOME. It fills up almost every day and the people in the class get really into it. I also like the functional fitness room by the basketball courts but wish it was a little bigger. There is a lot of equipment but not much room to move around. It definitely gets busy in the morning but that's to be expected at any gym. If you get there at 5am or around 3pm its not bad at all though. They provide towels which is nice so you don't have to bring your own. My only complaint is that they don't open til 8am on training holidays... I still have to work those days and need to get my workout on before then!

The only thing about this gym that I can't stand are the operational hours. 0500-2000 Mon-Fri and 0800-2000 on the weekends. I wish it was open later in the evening. Other than that this is a typically military gym. I wish the center two rooms had the wall knocked down to make it one big gym but i'm sure that wall is weight bearing and im just splitting hairs at this point. All equipment is separated by "like" items. Also, another thing I dont like really is how this gym NEVER has the music cranked up. Most times if you dont have your own headphones all you hear is everyone trying to quietly workout cause it so quite in their. This gym has everything you need really. Its not the biggest and baddest gym ever but they have everything you need to turn little muscles into bigger muscles. Solid Gym. Decent pool. decent locker room space. More cadio equipment than you'll ever need. lacking on 45lb plates so I feel like im walking all over the place when its busy to get plates but hey, thats part of the workout I suppose. PT times, Lunch time, and after work (1700) are busy hours.

I grew up in AZ but now at 34 I live in San Antonio, TX serving in the AF. I'm here right now visiting family and I decided to utilize barns field house gym. while the gym is awesome with everything you need, I see there's a change in staff. when I walked in a enthusiastically said hello and showed my CAC ID. the lady at the front didn't even say hi back which is fine but rudely said "you need a mask". so I said "oh okay.. like to work out too?" and she goes "no but to walk through the lobby". so I just said okay thanks and left but she didn't even respond after and just continued marking her notes. several things could've been done differently. at the base I work at, we only require mask during patient care so hospitals and clinics but also they could've kindly offered me a mask I mean they come in boxes. she could've also just been nicer. kind of ruin the gym pump!
