We had a fun time getting dressed up & photos were emailed very quickly. I thought the pricing is reasonable but felt it was a little rushed. Many costumes were able to be worn over regular clothes. They have options for plus size people and even little children. Dresses, skirts, every cowboy type getup you might want. Hats, props, cowboy & vintage style shoes- lots of options.I recommend getting an earlier appointment in the day; clothing isn't worn by anybody else the same day. You have the most costume options that way. If you are decent with editing photos, I recommend getting the photos emailed in color. It is easy to put a Sepia or B&W filter with a vignette around the edge (can be done on iPhone editor).Price is $15/per person for the sitting fee. That is just to dress up and get photos taken. Each picture we kept was $12/each and emailed to me immediately. With a tip, we got 8 photos for 5 people for $200.The guy working there was friendly helping us pick out the outfits & getting dressed. He had a lot of back-to-back appointments and I think he should give himself 10-15 minutes more per appointment so he isn't rushed. We did not have an option for backgrounds. Evening appointments only get the bar background due to lighting setup. Additionally, he posed us with 3 standing & 2 sitting. I would have liked to have more options for positions/poses.Once seated, we were told he we have one set with everyone holding guns & the next set would be with alcohol bottles. We took a serious pose, a smiling at camera pose, smiling looking at each other, and a silly one. The silly ones are my favorites. I would have preferred to have more creative opportunities which make the experience more fun. Maybe posing with sitting on the bar? I felt like he was a bit short with us due to time so I was told that's the only position we could fit everyone into, which is the only reason I didn't put 5 stars.Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed our digital photos. I wish I had gotten them in color, as I can't go back and see the original once the sepia ones were sent. I could switch it to B&W without issue. I would have liked to not be rushed, it seemed to stress the man out because he does his best to stay on time for later appointments. Overall, grab your friends and family and do something fun while you are in Tucson!

Discovered Barking Iron while looking for an old west photo studio and am very happy I did. This is the sixth time, at various locations and states, I've had old west photos done. By far this was the very best experience. This was my wife's first time to do this. She hates having her picture taken. But she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Joleen and Jayson were very friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way for us under special circumstances. If you like doing these photos and you don't do it here, you are missing

We took our daughters into the studio tonight (ages 3 and 2 months old) for a fun family picture. Kathryn was amazing with our girls, especially my toddler who wanted to keep changing her outfits. We had such a blast taking pictures. If you are looking for an old Westren pictures this place is for you!! Great with kids and had plenty of outfits/costumes to choose from. We will be going back soon for sure!

My brother, a friend and I stopped by the studio for a shoot, and couldn't have asked for a more delightful experience! Joleen was eternally pleasant and patient as we arranged for the perfect wardrobe and poses. The end result was very exciting and satisfying. We could tell it was a busy night at the studio, but everyone got their turn, and left feeling happy.

Had an excellent experience with Joleen and her staff. We found this beautiful little place by accident and is was a real treat. If you are looking for that special experience to make your trip in Tucson, this is the place. From rough and tough to pretty and sassy, they have it all.

Wonderful old time western photos made great memories. My family did a photo here years ago and we are planning a trip back to take the same poses in our aged state. HAHA! It will be great looking like real outlaws!

Sarcasm and Constant Profanity1. Jayson thought it was acceptable to enter a dressing room occupied by a teenaged girl.2. CONSTANT SARCASM. Jayson conducted himself as if we were an inconvenience. He sometimes responded to questions with a curt "I already told you that!" it was as if we were doing him a favor and not a customer buying his service.3. CONSTANT PROFANITY. Language like this has no place in a professional workplace. I especially do not like it in FRONT OF MY CHILDREN!After the third occasion (F-bomb) I said something about it. His response was to roll his eyes and scoff. The message Jayson portrayed was one where he did not want our business.

Had my photos taken at Barking Iron last year on a trip to Arizona and they are so well done. Got them printed on a matted vintage frame and they look very authentic. Jayson was very knowledgeable about the clothes and props and the experience of dressing up was very fun! Would recommend going with friends or family for a memory that will last a lifetime.

We had a wonderful visit with Santa and pictures turned out great. We loved how we had the whole studio to ourselves for our reservation during the busy holiday season. The shop was clean and tidy. Jayson was very friendly and helpful in getting the kids ready. The Santa was by far the best we've met. For a 10 year old who may or may not have questions this year, Santa kept him a believer! He wasn't focused on the THINGS the kids asked for (although it was definitely discussed ), but gave amazing advice to each. The pictures were perfect and I'm so glad we chose this route this year. Maybe a new holiday tradition?! .
