Scratching my head as to why my back pain still exists after a couple of chiropractic visits, I decided to try acupuncture. It cant' hurt, right? Or can it?????I called and made an appointment and was told my first visit would be 2 hours long. Upon arrival, I filled out various forms and answered lots of health questions before meeting my student acupuncturist. Soon Steve and Lori (Lori was very new and observing) took me to a separate room across the courtyard where the room was divided in two by Japanese type screens. I sat down with Steve as he went over my health profile and he asked very, very in-depth questions. After spending considerable time doing this, I was asked to get up on the table. Steve felt pulses in various spots on my body and had Lori do the same. It's very interesting...they also look at your tongue several times! Finally, they decided on a treatment plan and left me to relax while they went to speak to the supervisor (I assume a licensed acupuncturist) to review the suggested treatment. Ten minutes later they came back and explained everything they'd do doing. Steve was very gentle and managed to hit all the right spots. Once all the needles were inserted, I was left to relax and listen to soothing sounds for about 15 minutes. They came back and took everything out and spent a few more minutes talking.I've since gone back a few more times and on my last visit, Steve added acupressure seeds to my ear. He asked one of the students studying Oriental Medicine to do a consultation and a particular Chinese herb was suggested. So going back to my opening, let me tell you this - it doesn't hurt! Acupuncture can be very beneficial for so many things - not just pain. Give it a try!

I am so pleased with the care I have been receiving at ASAOM. The students are dedicated, conscientious and so involved with seeing their patients improve. The instructors are really impressive in their knowledge base & the guidance offered. Many modalities are available and are tailored to each patients case. I also really enjoy seeing the students evolve as the term goes on.Highly recommended!

The staff and the students at the school are great! They walked me through the entire process, did a brief medical screening. Andrea (instructor) was in the room the entire time when Nick (student) was going through the acupuncture treatment. The acupuncture pins did not hurt at all it felt like a flick. After the acupuncture was done I got a massage to finish the treatment, and I felt great. If I could illustrate what it felt like it would be as if my back with tension and knots was a balloon and after the pins went in all the air from the balloon was released, well all of the tension and knots were released. After the massage was over I was informed about another type of therapeutic massage which is called Tui Na. This was done by nick and once again he did a great job! The treatment consisted of a massage and cupping. Cupping did not hurt at all and the massage was very good. The cupping marks don't last more than a week and it's amazing how the real dark cupping marks stay around the area where I had most of my back problems. This was my first treatment of both types of therapy and I will definitely be coming back. I recommend this for anyone with back problems, It WORKS!

The Best students and supervisors attending to your well being. My husband and I are hooked! Everyone is active and engaging about your health. More than I can say about my traditional MD. Prices are affordable and they work with you. Make sure to set up an appointment bc they are always busy. I have since moved or we would still be going there.

I don't even know where to begin my rant about how happy I am that I decided on ASAOM for my master's program. When I started looking at schools for acupuncture and oriental medicine, I didn't know what to expect. From the very first email I sent, I've received nothing but timely and helpful responses. Charlotte, in admissions, was wonderfully inspiring while discussing my next steps and I'm so grateful for her guidance. Dr. Wagner, was helpful and patient with me while discussing financial aid and student loans. She sat with me for an hour and broke everything down so I left her office feeling confident and comfortable with my financial decisions. I had the pleasure of touring the campus and sitting in on a class. The environment this school creates is safe and welcoming. Everyone, students and administration, were kind and open to talk to me about the program. The sense of community at this school is the major reason I'm so excited to be attending this spring, you can really feel the passion for healing that everyone shares!

Great find !! I was in pain with my sciatica. My doctor didn't have any solution except for MRI's and pain meds. I was told that acupuncture was the only way to treat it by a friend. I finally went due to the severity of my pain. I'm so glad that I did!!! I'm completely out of pain and walking again! The school is a cozy little place with very friendly students and staff. From the moment that I walked in until the moment I left i felt that I was well taken care of. I was so surprised to find out that acupuncture can treat so many things. I'm going to use this resource for my health needs before I waste more time with my doctor. I learned that "well visits" are the way to go by practicing preventative medicine before things get out of control !!! ASAOM is a great place for acupuncture. Thanks ASAOM for healing me !!
