Arizona Lapidary & Gem Rough

We went there today with our puppy. When we walked in, the lady said most people "announce" we have a dog because her dog is not friendly with other dogs. Why does she even work there or have her animal there??? Wow. We walked out calmly and didn't even shop after the rude confrontation.

Loved this place and the prices were reasonable. The owner was very helpful and loved all the great finds. Sweet dog too.

A beautiful shop with fair prices! My husband and I got so many gems . There is an amazing selection of rough stones and minerals, as well as gorgeous jewelry. Worth a trip!

Wasn't set up like the typical rock and gem shop. It seemed more like a jewelry store setup and the prices were on the higher side. The ladies working were polite but not overly helpful. They seemed a bit on the snooty side. My least favorite shop of all I visited in Tucson.

It's all in the name. This store features many types and varieties of lapidary (stones and gems that have been engraved, cut and/or polished), as well as rough cut slabs of stone from all over the world. It's a beautiful store that is worth a visit if only to look at some of the more impressive stones, gems and minerals and artwork made from these same stones, gems and minerals. I agree with the other Yelpers reviewing this shop -- the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. This was exactly what we needed on our first visit. We are neophytes and were looking for a gift for a young friend who wanted some representative stones from southern Arizona and needed knowledgeable help to select stones that were not only from local mines, but were beautiful to look at. We got all that we needed and enjoyed ourselves in the process. Highly recommended.

The absolutely disgusting attitudes of the owners of this shop. To speak to anyone in way you spoke to me is not ok. Better yet to call someone and speak to them in the manner I was spoken to is outrageous. All because I didn't get into your shop to purchase something quick enough.

I came here a few months ago to get gifts for my family. The woman who helped me greeted me right away and answered all my questions. I did not feel pressured at all to buy and she entertained my questions about items that were obviously above my price range without making me feel that I was being bothersome. I was given space to roam around and browse but was also given assistance right away. I would definitely recommend this place to my picky aunt who is an avid gem and healing stone collector. I felt that the prices were fair and honest after having been to many other gem shops recently.
