Update: Received a call from Michale Patton's office stating he wanted to see me in April. Apparently he forgot that he unceremoniously and rudely turfed me to another surgeon with no explanation as to why. I called the office back and let them know I wouldn't see him if he was the last surgeon on earth. What a total idiot

Complete waste of my time and money. It took 3 months to get an appointment, even though I had a referral. First I was told that I shouldn't have called, they would call me. They never called. Then the doctor I was referred too was no longer there, they said they would call me back. Again, they never did. Armed with a new referral to a different doctor I called again. After 15 minutes in the wait queue of horrible music and erectile dysfunction ads my call was answered. I was told I could not see the doctor I was referred too, I could only see a PA. Then, an incredibly rude woman asked me if I was married... yep, that was the first question before getting an appointment. I gave her all my insurance info, was given an appointment, but then was told I could not have that appointment because that PA didn't take my insurance. She put me on hold, the call was disconnected, so I had to call back and restart the whole process. Finally, after another half hour plus on hold listening to ED ads, I had an appointment 3 weeks in the future. I was told to wait for an e mail that would give me a log in to their on line portal. I asked for the time of the appointment, she said it would be in the e mail, and to wait "a few minutes" for it. 24 hours later, I had to once again spend 30 minutes on hold because the e mail never came.The appointment itself was a complete waste of time and money. The office had not obtained my medical records like I was assured they would. They handed me paperwork to fill out for medical history, even though I had done it on their on line portal (which is also horrible). I was required to pay $270 in advance, even though they are contracted with my insurance. I left the appointment with directions to use cranberry supplements. He didn't listen to me when I said I already had been doing that. I was told to contact them through their portal if I had any other questions or symptoms. It's been 3 days, they have not even read the message yet.If your doctor tries to refer you to this place, demand a different referral!!

The staff and doctors at Arizona Institute of Urology are caring, highly competent, problem-solving professionals. My elderly father was hospitalized for a sudden illness that required the attention of several specialists. Dr. Rumakumar attended my father during his hospital stay even though he was at that time a new, as yet unseen patient (we had scheduled his first appointment but the hospitalization delayed it). When we called to reschedule what was to have been the first consultation, the scheduler pleasantly and patiently worked with us to get a timely appointment and suggested we could be added to the "first cancellation, any location" list. At that first appointment, at the Carondolet office, the receptionist, medical assistant and records clerk treated my father, who has vision, hearing and mobility impairments, with respect and kindliness. When we met Dr. Ruamkumar, his patience, good humor, clarity and calm manner put both the patient and the family at ease and gave us the information we needed to make informed decisions. Most recently, I called the River Road office for help in unraveling a complicated snafu with an urgently needed prescription that had gone awry, a process involved our GP, a nephrologist's office and Az Institute of Urology. The phone calls ran though the afternoon into after-hours contact. Each person in the 'chain of command" at Az I of U listened to me, acknowledged my concern, and asked targeted questions that focussed on solving the problem. This level of professionalism has been the default each time we have had contact with or received services from the practice.

Bad support people and totally non communicable, it's insulting to deal with these people. I have been waiting for 10 days now to have my catheter prescription renewed and absolutely NO response! I have called Four times now and my supplier has been in contact with them but NOHING!!!Extremely disappointed...

I absolutely cannot understand the people that purport to have had a bad experience here. My experience couldn't have been better. I've endured BPH for many years and came here to see Dr. Arthur Caire. The staff was friendly and helpful. After the initial exam, Dr. Caire suggested 4 courses of action. I opted to have a TURP procedure and Dr Caire and the staff were able to schedule the surgery within a week. Dr. Caire was professional, caring and a good listener. The procedure was an unqualified success. I highly recommend both the staff at the Arizona Institute of Urology and Dr. Caire.

My previous critical review of AIU was my emotional frightened response to the possibility of what I feared at the time, was kidney cancer of some type. Continued increasingly evident bleeding which showed each time I urinated resulted in my search for help one week ago via the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, AZ. There, I was examined and treated by Dr. Levin, who, while good naturedly and forgiving, acknowledged my previously critical review.He explained that I had bladder cancer, admitted me, and performed the necessary surgery removing what was described as a large tumor inside my bladder the next day.No more so than I, my wife, our adult twins (brother and sister}, and grandson believe that Dr. Levin was indeed "Heaven sent".While I have a ways to go with this, my family and I are grateful beyond description for Dr. Levin, his care and expertise, and the Arizona Institute of Urology.Sincerely with gratitude,Jack Leon BoyingtonDouglas, AZ

The office staff of AIU is incompetent. They wasted a month of my life, cost me a day of work and $200, and I never even saw the doctor. I called to make a self referred appointment for a urology problem. My primary care physician had moved out of the area so that I didn't have a PCP. They offered an appointment 5 weeks away as the soonest I could be seen. I took the appointment. I work out of town so I had to take a day of work and spend over $200 to change my airline reservations. I get to the office, pay my copay, leave a urine sample , and wait. Then I am told that I can't see the doctor without a referral! They know this a month ago and said NOTHING! They completely wasted my time and money and didn't even care. They are a bunch on incompetents.

Used to be good, until I WAS NOT ALLOWED to see my doctor and had to see a PA instead (physicians assistant). I was told only PAs were used for regular office visits, even though I have a condition that must be monitored for changes and should be done by the same person. Then I was told they would close the office and would have to see a different PA (e.g. third person to handle my case). I gave up and switched to a reliable urologist.

Hopefully all the doctors at Arizona Institute of Urology aren't as incompetent and apathetic as Dr. Patino. Wanted me to go back to my primary care physician after two visits as he questioned if it was even a urological problem. He said none of my symptoms made sense for what I believed was my problem. Have since seen another urologist who said everything I was experiencing made perfect sense and knew exactly what was wrong. He not only showed the knowledge to diagnose my problem and plan a course of treatment but a genuine willingness to listen and care about my improvement. My experience at Arizona Institute of Urology was nothing short of appalling and a complete waste of time and money.
