I am new in town and came in to try out. They dont have any tryouts so you will be paying a 10$ "mat fee" each time. I was told to come back the next day for no-gi class because I didnt have a gi and wouldnt be allowed on the mat without one, "instructors rules". Josie advised me that the best option for me would be a punch card that is 100$ for 10 visits. I'm not sure why anyone would buy the punch card if you can just pay the mat fee and still pay the same amount. Overall it seemed they were trying to wring as much money out of me as possible with no respect for the sport. Past gyms I have been to always made me feel welcome and it seemed more about establishing a community and spreading good energy, not about making as much money as possible. I was very excited when I saw the BJJ sign driving by but now I just feel disappointed.
