American Legion Post 66

The folks are wonderful and the bartenders are great. There's a lot of different events here.

Been a Legionnaire in good standing (generally "Early Bird" at my Post) for 10+ years. Went to the Missile Silo museum with my daughter while on a road trip and figured we'd pop in and get a bite and something cold after the tour. Big mistake! I didn't have my current card with me (under a magnet on the fridge) - OK, I'm a knucklehead. I did produce a current AMVETS and VFW card and offered to bring up my electronic Legion account on the website (and show my 'electronic card') but the bartender was adamant that without a paper card I wasn't welcome. Two of the members sitting next to me immediately offered to sign us in as their guests (something we do at my home Post all the time, and something done very regularly at every other Post I've ever visited), but the (non-Vet, for sure) bartender wasn't willing to budge. The representative of this Post humiliated me in front of my daughter... thanks, Shipmate! Insult me individually, that's one thing; humiliate me in front of my children, that's a whole different level of disrespect.

Beautiful Legion with Amazing Members, Volunteers and a Caring Staff! The view is one of the best in Green Valley and there are frequent, fun events! Lunches and dinners are prepared and served by volunteers, so food choices can be limited, but are always good! You must be a member or guest of a member to enter.

Inexpensive food & drinks in a nice welcoming atmosphere. Cash only policy is a drawback, but it keeps the prices very reasonable. Lunch specials vary in quality & value.

I'd love to give it an honest review but the few times I've tried to swing by it's closed. My parents retired in the area & I visit them frequently but it seems everything including the local legion post close early. Where can I get a beer at 9pm in Green Valley if I can't depend on the local veterans organization??

Have been here a few times. The food is very mediocure.Place is always crowded with loud obnoxious drunks. Burger night is awful. The meat is way over cooked. The condiments are few.Spaghetti night is just OK.

So I recently found out that I'm a member through my dad. First time I came here I absolutely fell in love with the layout and the ambience. First time here on a Monday.

I came across this post while touring the Titian Missile Museum and it looked like a good place to stop for a beer. What a find. The people were very friendly, the beer was cold and plenty of seating. The first time I stopped in it was taco night. The food was great and several people told me ALL the food there is great. I have been back several times and will continue to stop by when ever I am in the area.

Awful, called 1/4/19, talked to Mike, told him I am 'new' to Green Valley, 6 weeks and would like to visit the post tonight. Said fine, show my DD214's at the door to come in and see what this post is like, I said perfect and was looking forward to their Rib Night and music. Got to the door with a lady friend and the post commander was at the door and said go away you can't come in unless you are a paid member. I explained to him I'm new and wanted a chance to see the post first to see what it was like, plus told him about conversation with Mike, the commander said Mike left at seven and now he was deciding who to let in, and for me to pay for a membership the following Monday and I would be allowed in. I'm a point-pref vet from Vietnam era, 3 combat MOS's, served in Special Force's and I have been a card carrying member of 3 VFW's in St. Louis and last night met a Post Commander that apparently has a hard-on against Mike welcoming 'new' potential members for their look and see at Post #66.Well, that says it all about the Post doesn't it. After everyone else I've met in Green Valley, ....GVR and so many clubs, open armed welcomes. This Post commander needs to be relieved of his command.

As a life member of the legion and life member of the VFW I can say when it comes to effective board members and competent management this is the worse American legion I have ever seen. Most of these recent reviews are lies to try and get back all the snowbird clientele that stop going there. The bar is the filthiest that I have seen it in years and they are losing money so they are posting fake reviews. They took a beautiful bar and turned it into a poor man's country club. There is other veteran bars in the area like post 131 and 109 that are managed a lot better and have sober talented bartenders
