I have been a member for several years now and have enjoyed many wonderful classes and events here over the years. I encourage new students to keep a positive attitude in their ability to learn, and use the many internet tools that are free such as wordReference.com and Linguée dictionaries, websites such as France Facile and LkL Lawless to enhance their learning. Most of all, reach out and make friends with other francophones at the Alliance de Tucson.

I recently moved to Tucson and was very pleased to find the Alliance Française. I'm taking the advanced conversation class and very often also attend the free to members conversation group on Tuesdays. I've also had the opportunity to attend their Bastille Day social event. The Alliance is a very welcoming space where you can find people of all ages who are interested in learning a new language and culture.I find that the instructor, Victoria, is highly qualified. She provides ample opportunity for each of the six students in my class to speak about their experiences and opinions on different subjects; she is very patient and is always willing to explain grammatical rules, new vocabulary, and everyday expressions with humor and good insights.Victoria is also the new executive director. She's re-organizing the school and has bunch of new ideas that are revitalizing it. I highly recommend the Alliance Française de Tucson to anyone interested in the French language and culture.

I have been attending classes here for a year. Both instructors i had were teachers Victoria has taught for twenty some years and Patricia has taught for over twenty five years. All the classes i had were relatively small 4 -5 students each. The text that is used is all in french no english so you are forced to look up words. The instruction is all in French which is great. I read the other reviews and i dont agree with them. Yes there are older people in these classes especially during the day. I think its great that retired people are learning another language.I found the classes moving at a faster pace than a college class. It goes without saying that if one wants to learn a language one has to put a lot of time outside the class room I for one think that the staff here is great.

I agree with Jan P. that AFT is an unhappy place to learn. Poor organization and attitudes are only part of the problem. The facilities include a cramped, scruffy classroom and a problematic A/C. Admittedly it's cheap, but this time you get what you pay for. Try on-line Skype French or Spanish at the JCC.

I would recommend finding another organization to learn French. The organization does a poor job of working with the students and their teachers and the Alliance is extremely unorganized. Don't waste your money in contributing to the Alliance or signing up for a French classes.

I love Alliance Française, here in Tucson! I feel at home, everybody is so eager to provide the best ambiance for learning, I encouraged my wife and friends to join, and now it is totally fun!

Returning to Tucson, it was exciting to find Alliance Francaise in the Junior League building at River and Campbell and also committed to students of all levels; to get them to all move ahead. I personally discovered we all do. After sitting in on classes and seeing the texts, I understood the opportunity here. Seeing the quality here, I don't miss a class. Grammar point after grammar point in the context of the musical language; it's something finally gathering lots of goals and wants into one experience. It's laid back but packed with quality experience at your own pace but inspiring. I've never experienced language learning like this in all the many decades I've struggled to get a handle on this gorgeous language. When you leave feeling impressed with your own learning, that's a success for for a school. There's films, books, native speakers all framed in this kind of "humor" and lightness of experience. You probably know Alliance Francaise is a national organization. This is one of the good ones and should not be missed. French, especially here opens the door, at least for me, to all of Europe. I don't know how else to put it; We have one planet; French is still the "it" language. This is the place in the desert, a taste of seriously celebrating something outside the border with great food, cheeses, culture and taste. Good grief; we are all French at heart. Several teachers also speak Spanish. They teach children and teach internationally. They are university level and relaxed and sensitive. With flair to spare. No joke, this is gourmet for the brain. I got lucky
