Food was amazing and the owner was really helpful in picking out fun things to try! My son went on a mission to Ghana and wanted us to try some food from there. He said it was really authentic!

This place was DELICIOUS!!! I've been craving authentic west African food since moving to Tucson, and a friend recommended we give this place a try. Service was quick, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the meal overall was extremely delicious! They even have a cute little market next door that you can shop tax highly recommend this place!

I came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch, and it was empty aside from one customer waiting for a takeout order. There was only one man working, and he seemed to be responsible for taking orders, cooking, and everything else. I sat down, and he brought me a menu and a cup of water. He finished cooking the other customer's meal and packaged it before coming to take my order, so I waited for a little bit. He didn't seem to have the best English, so asking questions about the menu was just a tad challenging. But I ordered the jollof with fried chicken and a side of plantain. He fried the chicken and plantain fresh, and they came out piping hot. The portion size was fairly large, which made the price feel worth it. The plantain was great, but the jollof was not my favorite. But I love that there's an option for West African food in Tucson!

The location itself is small, but there's parking in the side and on the backside of the building. The food is so delicious! My daughter and I are used to eating Fufu the traditional way, with our hands. You could tell some of the other customers were not used to seeing or doing that. But the other customers that came in after us ordered the same thing and seem to be embracing the African customs.

My wife and I wanted to expand our horizons and were excited to try West African food at Alafia. The owner, Ismael is originally from Benin and they had food from many different countries in west Africa. We came for lunch and shared the jollof rice with chicken and the egusi stew with chicken and fufu. Ismael blessed us some a sample of their fresh squeezed ginger juice and it packed a punch. My wife found it very refreshing. This was our first time trying fufu (pounded yam meal) which acts as the starch with the stew. Everything was delicious and their house made hot sauce was so good but it had me sweating in a big way. I'm excited to try the goat stew next time. Make sure to check out their store next door that has amazing African textiles, woodworking, jewelry and baskets. The prices were very reasonable and my wife bought a beautiful raffia basket and a beaded bracelet.

Support black-owned businesses . If you are down to try out Beninese food, this is the spot. The service is fairly good, but I took off one star cause they don't do delivery. Therefore, it may be inconvenient for some folks to drive towards central part of Tucson. Also, if you've never had Beninese or African food, then you should get of your comfort zone and explore the richness of African food. The ambience is a small restaurant, so it's pretty chill.

Never had Nigerian food and it was very tasty. I had the Egusi soup, fufu and plantains. So so good! Bissap drink was amazing I wish I would have got a bigger cup. Location is small and cozy and looked very clean. Customer service was good. I will definitely come back again.
