We went here for lunch during restaurant week. It was an excellent value for the food. Seating was plentiful. I got a lychee green tea, but I think there was a bit too much syrup and it was too sweet for me.The meal came with a beef and mushroom salad, sashimi, a roll, and udon. Husband got the spicy beef udon and I got the tsurutontan dx. I think the udon was fine--the portions were HUGE, it was basically two or three servings in one bowl. The people sitting next to us split one of the bowls and that was honestly smart. The real standout was actually the sushi--it was really fresh and delicious. I'd definitely go back for the sushi alone.

We came to Tsuru Ton Tan for their 50% off Wagyu Special back in June and let me tell you.. the bowls are HUGE The udon itself was satistfyingly chewy and the broth of both the sukiyaki and truffle udon were warm and comforting. The truffle flavor was strong and aromatic while the sukiyaki was lighter and had a sweeter taste. We LOVED the wagyu sushi which needed no soy sauce dip at all. The wagyu itself had a tender texture and a velvet fatty flavorIt was so good we ordered another round of the wagyu sushiIf you're looking for a solid spot for udon with a variety of sushi options, I recommend Tsuru Ton Tan!

I recently visited Tsurutontan with my husband and cousin-in-law, hoping to enjoy some good udon like I remembered from the past. Unfortunately, our experience this time was disappointing. While the portions were generous, none of us enjoyed our udon--the flavors were lackluster, and the udon just didn't hit the mark. It was very mid, nothing special or particularly tasty. I think it was just too heavy. The tofu was good, but it's pretty basic thing to get wrong. The ambiance and interior of the restaurant are always nice, with the warm wood accents creating a cozy atmosphere. Our waiter provided good service, which we appreciated, he did make a weird joke though... guess he was trying to be funny haha.I just wish the udon tasted better to match both the setting and the service.

We came here for the AYCE and would say it's worth it if you can eat a lot! The quality of the food is great including the sashimi (we got the hamachi and it was fresh). The udon bowls are amazing too. I really enjoyed the spicy beef cold noodles. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to get Japanese food in Boston! Our server was friendly and attentive and they have a lot of indoor seatings. We went on a Tuesday night at 7pm and no bookings needed. Food: 8/10Value: 8/10Experience: 9/10 Service: 8/10

Not sure why the ratings are so low here. My experience was very nice and the food was tasty. The best time to come here is when they have their lunch specials! The prices are great and portion size is generous. I ordered a spicy beef cold udon, and it was like a tan-tan noodle but with udon noodles. The noodles were nice and chewy and I felt happy with the amount of beef I got. The sauce was great! Service was excellent as well. Haven't tried the AYCE yet.. maybe next time!

My boyfriend ordered Wagyu Beef Udon and it was so delicious. Grilled Maitake, Ahi Tuna Poke, and Unagi Donburi are my most favorite. The environment and music make for a good ambience for causal eats and for a dating spot. The waiter was highly engaging and friendly.

Good food, atrocious service. AYCE Japanese hot pot for $35-45? I was wondering why this place doesn't have more patrons but now I know why.For $35, we got an AYCE menu with: - pork and chicken hot pot - unlimited veggies - sushi rolls - rice bowls - appetizers - udon or rice vermicelli Coming from LA, this felt like a killer deal since a similar deal would cost $50+ in my area. However, the service absolutely killed the experience for me. We ordered the split soup pot (half tomato, half traditional shabu shabu broth) and the server mentioned it will be an extra $3. No problem. They brought out the soup and it was cooking for about 10 mins. I took a sip of the soup and realized they served us the wrong soup (sukiyaki instead of shabu shabu). They realized their mistake and replaced the soup... but they kept the veggies from the old batch, so the soup still subtly tasted sweet from the old broth. I imagine they just dumped the soup out and added the new broth instead of completely replacing the pot. We ordered a medley of veggies and apps but they never brought out the maitake or shiitake mushrooms - no matter how many times I ordered. Either they were out of the item or the server didn't know the difference between the different menu items. Lastly, they brought out udon without us ordering and by the time we threw it in the pot the noodles were mushy and stuck together. We waited over 20 mins between each order because the server didn't come by often. Since we needed to replace the soup once, we sat around waiting for quite a while during our experience. For AYCE, the lack of service is detrimental since we can't order as much food as we want and we're getting full as we're waiting for the waiter: When we paid for our bill, they charged us TWICE for the $3 split soup. We already have one soup that comes with the order initially, so it only makes sense to be charged the $3 once, right? Honestly wasn't worth us explaining the error and reversing a charge over $3, but this was the nail in the coffin. It's really a shame because the food is pretty decent for the price. It's not too notch but it's a good value for $35 pp. I'd come back if the servers and chefs actually knew what they were doing. The reason they are not as busy as they should be (60% capacity during peak dinner hours) is because their service is worse than fast food. I know this wasn't a unique experience because there are multiple reviews sharing the same concern. They really need to re-train their employees to better their knowledge and service so the customers don't leave frustrated as we did (and many others)!

Wonderful food! The udon noodles are nice and chewy and the broths are varied and delicious. Our favorites of the ones we tried were the Spicy Cold Tofu (lots of Szechuan peppercorn and flavor in the sauce), House Sukiyaki Udon, Cold Spicy Beef Udon (sauce similar to that of the Spicy Cold Tofu), and the Mini Spicy Tuna Donburi. The Vegetable Tempura Udon was also very nice -- never had had a piece of tempura avocado before! We were not big fans of the curry rice because -- it being a Japanese curry -- was sweeter than we typically like our curry. Don't get me wrong... it was fine, but not to our taste. We didn't get any of the sushi rolls just because there were too many options to choose from on the Deluxe menu. If you do decide on an All You Can Eat meal like we did, a few things to know:1. Everyone at the table has to have the same level All You Can Eat meal.2. The Udon (small size) bowl that you get is pretty much identical to a regular-sized udon bowl at most other restaurants. It's not a "sample" bowl at all! Be aware of this when you're ordering because there is a policy of charging you the a la carte price if you don't eat something you've ordered. We managed to cancel an udon bowl we ordered not realizing how big the bowls were, thanks to our wonderful and understanding server and an overloaded kitchen. 3. The mini donburi bowls are pretty generous as well -- the vinegar rice is delicious.

The food here is amazing. We had reservations and were seated almost instantly, with many choices to sit. The area has a nice modern design, with clean areas and a nice quiet atmosphere. Service consistently checked in on us and the food came out at a reasonable pace. We originally came here for the Dine Out Boston menu, but were enticed by the AYCE option and were not disappointed. The handrolls were good, the filling ratio was good and the salmon tasted good. The sashimi felt fresh and was pretty good as well. The Udon was soft and chewy, the broth was clean and had a nice taste to it. The sushi rolls were the highlight, and had a great flavor that complimented the rest of the meals. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the price. at $52/person, it felt a bit more on the expensive side for what we received. I came previously when the price was much cheaper, but now many of the options I got previously is priced at the highest tier ($82/person), which I could not justify getting. The portion size is also considerably smaller now compared to getting the meals from the regular menu, which I understand, but the sushi also went from 6 pieces down to 4 pieces. It is a good meal and great for a date night or special occasion, but not a place I would be able to consistently go to because of the price.

I really like their all you can eat option! At first I was a bit skeptical whether the quality would be as good since it is ayce but I was surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was really high quality and fresh even the sushi we got the cheapest option which was 32$. It was really good and got to try most of the stuff on the menu. The drinks were also really good. The service was nice and it is spacious for a big group. I highly recommend this place if you want to have a big meal and come in big groups to try different food on the menu. I want to come back next time to try ayce hotpot.
