This was my second time visiting the restaurant and the service has only gotten better (and it was great the first time!) and more welcoming. I visited the restaurant today while running errands. It was not crowded, but it was still a very nice atmosphere. We were seated immediately, after being greeted by the owner like she was our auntie--if you don't know about our culture that means it was welcoming and with love. The pancake muffins were delightful and delicious. Warm fluffy muffins with chunks of bacon throughout. My cousin ordered the wings and she's not even a regular chicken person, but she loved them all the same. If you are in the area and need some good food from some great people, this is a great place to stop. The covered patio allowed me to sit outside--a must on a day like today, without being in direct heat or cold.

I had Truth Italian Restaurant on my restaurant list to try for several months now. As much time as I spend going to Bronzeville and Hyde Park, it should not have taken me so long to get there. Today, I went and I can't reiterate how much I kicked myself for delaying trying this restaurant.I went for breakfast and, as usual, I arrived shortly after the doors opened for business. This was so that I wouldn't have to be held hostage to the late morning/early afternoon brunch crowd. I had a seat in an otherwise empty restaurant and I was okay with that. For this visit, I had the Cajun crawfish omelet with cheesy hashbrowns. This was a welcomed switch from having chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and the longer list of items that are common staples on brunch menus. They did not hold back on the crawfish at all. I would have sauteed the bell peppers until they were more tender, but the were still good in the dish. There was enough seasoning in the omelet that the cheesy hashbrowns didn't require much salt and pepper. There was a nice balance that really made the dish a highlight. The seating area is rather dark. I believe they have a patio that is open when the temperatures warm up. However, if bright spaces are your thing, that won't be the case here. For me, the food more than made up for the dim setting. Service was perfect and I will attribute that to me having arrived before crowds, indecisive patrons, and angry patrons. I saw some other menu items that I would like to try, so that means I will make my way back to Bronzeville in a few weeks for a second round.

Walk in area is okay, a bit of a weird configuration. It's also dark. The best area is outside in the heated eatery. The service is good. The owner makes appearances and is friendly. They serve a large breakfast crowd on the weekend. I was last there with a group of 10 and they kept the food flowing. The main entree I ordered, steak & eggs, was good. The cheesy hash browns was a total miss. They have a new way they serve eggs. I wish they just had regular scrambled eggs. It's a consistent staple in community.

I promise to the truth and nothing but The Truth. In my opinion overrated. This has been on the top of list since last year. There was alot of buzz around Chicago that this place was The Truth. I was happy to finally get my chance to experience the food and ambience. Warm Greeting at the door always a plus. We were immediately seated at a small table for two. Scanned the barcode to view the food and drink menu. Many food selections on the menu. I ended up ordering the traditional breakfast. Bacon, eggs shredded hash browns and toast. A glass of blueberry mimosa. My friend ordered the chicken sausage, strawberry French toast, eggs and a watermelon mimosa. The mimosa had no flavor just a basic champagne. Nice music and vibes. The spacious patio on the side was nice. The food was meh. I looked around and most people were leaving with food still on their plates. Nothing super special about the food. It's all about supporting a black owned business around The Chicagoland. I finally got my moment to come and experience.

Wanted a place with mimosas. My stepdaughter recommended we visit Truth. Not sure what the Italian part has anything to do with anything. Menu is scannable type that irk me (and other folks of a certain age). No paper menu which was first disappointment. Place is fairly dark and intimate. Wonder how they fared during Covid? There is outside seating if you prefer. Food was ok. My cousin and I both ordered traditional breakfasts; hers with bacon, mine with jerk sausage. There was nothing remotely similar to jerk flavor. Mimosas were okay; we ordered the flight for about $35? I selected prickly pear. Meh. And the waffle flight was tasty with 4 small assorted waffles. It too was about $35? My hubby and his daughter ordered entrees with shrimp and crawfish. I don't eat seafood typically so neither looked appetizing to me. My stepdaughter thoroughly enjoyed her meal. My hubby? Not so much. Overall, it's a place I won't visit again. Wouldn't tell anyone not to try them though. I footed the bill, spent over $200. Not my cup of tea and that's the truth.

Truth Restaurant was one of the worst from the moment we walked in. The ambiance was gloomy, dark, and dank, and it looked nothing like the pictures posted on Yelp. To top it off, we were seated at a table adjacent to the kitchen, where the hostess's accentuated derriere repeatedly made unwelcome contact with the back of my chair every time she walked by. This hostess-waitress didn't win any points for politeness or attentiveness. When we politely asked to move to a table at the opposite end of the restaurant, we were met with a rather peculiar response filled with far too much negativity to be in an establishment where we were paying for a service. The vacant table we wanted was reserved for a group of three, even though it was nearly closing at 3:00 PM, and it was only around 2:15 PM with no other patrons in sight. (Nobody else showed up to eat here.)Thankfully, Chef Kai came to the rescue, taking charge of the floor on this sluggish/slo Thursday. He was THE shining star of our visit; and the food was undeniably tasty, and the portion size was great. I opted for the fried catfish executive with sunny-side-up eggs and cheesy hash browns. My advice to you is to order your food togo to spare yourself the attitude & drama. As a hometown girl, I'm genuinely puzzled by the attitude we had to endure, mainly when an 18% gratuity was added to our bill without any consultation, notation on the menu, or clue. Why this is listed as an Italian Restaurant is a mystery to me......

Amazing experience on Sunday 12th. My class had their reunion brunch here and everything was excellent. The service was great, the food was delicious; I'm gonna post my veggie omelette. Everyone's food looked delicious and let's not mention those delicious mimosa's. I had white peach yummy! Thank you to Ms. Peyton for everything she did to ensure we had a memorable time. The best! Will definitely be back.

Last visit statements...Here I sit at a table waiting to pay a lot of money for some left overs. Half of the items on the menu are not available. It took awge to be seated to be disappointed. My husband doesn't eat prk. They are out of steak AND chicken. My mimosas look like malt liquor. So much for supporting my people.

Only served me 2 pancakes when I ordered chocolate chip pancakes , why not 3? Gave me no syrup or any forks to eat with. The regular pancakes are 6.50 alone and the full stack is 9.00 so I don't get it. The bottom isn't done and they taste plain

Ordered Jerk Shrimp and Grits. Shrimp was very Bland no flavor at all. Shrimp was very chewy turns out the shrimp was RAW. Owner takes my plate and returns with the same shrimp which means they probably places it back on the grill and reserved it to me. AFTER I HAD ALREADY TOUCHED IT. Coffee was cold. First and LAST time.
