Trining's Bakery & Cafe is located in Mira Mesa, right next to Target. It's been there for a long time but this was my first time trying them out. I had asked my local Facebook group for recommendations for "Lumpia" in our area. And everyone kept suggesting this place, so I gave them a try. A tray of lumpia (100pc) cost me about $70 which was about average compared to other places. But the quality of the Lumpia was on par with some of the best I have had. When I am not making them myself, this will be our new "got to" spot for cooked lumpia. Since I was there I also picked up a breakfast plate for myself. The longanisa with a fried egg and garlic rice was perfect. It really just tasted like the home cooked meals I grew up with. In addition the Lumpia and staple filipino dishes, Trining's also has a bakery with all of your filipino favorite desserts. I'll be back for sure!

Very Mom n' Pop shop vibes. Love how easy and quick it is to order. Comfort food that hits the spot. Pretty authentic Filipino food, based on what I've heard from my Filipino friends, so that's a big plus too! :) Their rice soups are excellent on a cold rainy day. Con: limited evening hours. They close at 6pm, so not really a dinner option for me. And I'm not an early bird for breakfast, nor do I go out for lunch on weekdays due to work. So although I want to try more of their dishes, few chances to do so.

Though they're short staffed, hours have changed, increased prices, one needs to be courteous, and patience in supporting them. People are adamantly selfish. Being Filipino doesn't help because one doesn't show humanity. As rating 5/5 is perfect. There's no growth in being quality for service.Food: 4/5Ambiance: 4/5Service: 3/5

Went here on a Thursday at 12:30pm, no line, fast service. All the baked good were fully stocked. I did the combo 2 item plate (beef Kare kare and pork sisig). Tastes like home, the beef was so tender and the sisig was so flavorful. Highly recommend, can't wait to try their silogs!

Who doesn't love Filipino food?! Especially lumpia...drool. I called in last minute for 50 lumpia's and Trining's was able to make it and have my order ready by the time I needed it. They have plenty of desserts to choose from like cakes and cheese breads. They even have a variety of entrees and dishes that are made to order like all day breakfast items, pancit noodles, arroz caldo soups!

The Trining's menu is HUGE - they have everything from appetizers/snacks, breakfast, a large entree menu, and desserts. Out of everything we've tried here, my family's absolute favorite is their breakfast offerings, the silogs. We are always on the hunt for the best silogs in town and the Trining's tapsilog (the Mira Mesa location specifically, not National City) is the best. We also love their lechonsilog and bangsilog. One of the best parts? They serve breakfast all day.If you are looking to order large servings for potlucks or parties, Trining's is also a great place to order. I've ordered large batches of lumpia here to take to parties. While we mostly enjoy the food here, I will say that the consistency in customer service, speed, and quality of the food is not always there. There's been moments when the wait time was really long and the food did not taste the same as it usually does.Parking is a shared lot with other businesses in the area.

This place is a classic Pinoy mom and pop spot serving up some tasty comfort food. I came for breakfast because I was craving a Filipino breakfast plate. I got the bangus silog, and it was a pretty affordable plate. It also came with some essential vinegar on the side. To my surprise this spot had an extensive menu beyond just breakfast. Their menu offered some classics like pancit, adobo, etc. I definitely will be coming back to try more of their menu. It also has some indoor seating if you'd like to dine in.

I must say that I was a big fan of the restaurant that used to house this location - Gemmae Bakeshop. So I was very sad when they closed down. BUT I am happy to report that Trining's is just as good! Now admittedly I am not sure if they had a change of management (and therefore name) or if it's a completely separate restaurant, but either way, this place hits the spot. The food is mainly made to order. I say mainly because just like a lot of Filipino spots in San Diego, they have ready made snacks, goodies, baked goods, ice cream and even bread wall for you to just grab and go. As expected, you can also place your party tray orders for your next family party.I love their combos here. From the breakfast "silogs" with my favorites being the tocino, tapa, longanisa and spam (they have plenty others, too!). When it comes to their entrees, they post what is available daily on their menu board. And trust me, it is A LOT to choose from. And you pretty much can't go wrong with most of them. Some of favorites are the pork bbq, menudo, chicken adobo, bistek tagalog and kare kare. Trining's is also my go-to spot for the best pancit. My homeland favorite is pancit malabon and they have a good one here! But their bihon, palabok and sotanghon versions are great as well. Wash it down with a cup of either their freshly made melon juice or sago at gulaman.
