During our trip to La Jolla in early April, my husband and I were staying on property at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. Torreyana Grille is located inside the property. On Thursday and Friday evening, we stopped into Torreyana Grille to eat some of their desserts! On Thursday, our seating was in the bar area. The restaurant has an open bar area on the right side, and general dining tables and booths are on the opposite end of the restaurant. The restaurant overlooks Torrey Pines golf course and the ocean. It's beautiful! We had to ask for the regular dinner menu in order for us to select some desserts. The first desserts we tried were the New York Cheesecake and the Chocolate Lava Cake. We waited about 20 minutes for the desserts. The New York Cheesecake wasn't that good. The cheesecake was not creamy and was very dry. The top of the cheesecake and the side were covered with white chocolate. I would not order the chocolate lava cake again. The interior cake was extremely dry. The chocolate mousse was decent. There were some berries scattered around the chocolate lava cake. The sauce was bitter, though. On the second day we stopped into Torreyana Grille, we were seated in the dining area, overlooking the golf course and ocean! We ended up ordering the salted caramel gelato and a chocolate cake with pecans. We didn't wait long on the second day, approximately 5 minutes for both desserts! The salted caramel gelato was amazing! Two relatively large scoops were provided. It was creamy and almost tasted like regular ice cream! The chocolate cake with the pecans was interesting. It had a lot of dark chocolate flavoring. Overall, we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant! The team members were friendly and helpful too! Each night, we had a team member come up and check on our table, asking if we needed any extra drinks or food! I would only order the gelato again from Torreyana Grille.

Choosing Torreyana Grill at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines for dinner during our stay seemed like a convenient option, and the experience had its highs and lows. Arriving around 5 pm on Friday, 12/29/23, we were promptly seated in the tranquil ambiance of the nearly quiet restaurant. The service was welcoming, and our waiter was friendly from the start. We kicked off with the Chesapeake Bay Crab Cake, a delightful starter with generous lump crabmeat. The highlight of the meal was the 14oz Rib Eye Steak - perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor. However, the Sea Bass entree, unfortunately, lacked the desired tenderness, and the Sea Bass Sandwich felt overly sauced for our taste.Dessert left us with mixed feelings. The Deep Fried Cheesecake Torrey Style was a winner, while the Chocolate Lava Cake didn't quite live up to expectations as it lacked the anticipated 'lava' sauce.A breakfast order of Smoke Salmon before checking out was a delightful surprise, packed with incredible flavors and plenty of smoked salmon. The overall experience was a blend of hits and misses. The restaurant maintained cleanliness, and the attentive staff catered to our needs despite the quiet evening. While some dishes impressed, others fell short, leaving us with a mixed impression of Torreyana Grill. My Personal Rating : 4Food 3.7/5Staff 4.5/5Price 3.8/5Ambiance 4/5Cleanliness 4/5

We decided to have both dinner and breakfast here. Both our waitress for dinner and waited for breakfast were extremely friendly. They had such a great attitude and extremely helpful with their suggestions. Which is why I'm rating this place 4 stars. They had the lobby music playing and you could hear it all throughout, nothing too loud and it could not be heard once you were in your rooms. Breakfast had two different options, continental and a la carte. We opted for a la carte menu. Everything tasted good. As for dinner we had steak frites, one was intended to be well with a side of asparagus and the other medium well with fries. There was a confusion in the steaks and they were placed in the wrong plates (not a big deal we just swapped them. We ordered calamari and it was on the bland side, it needed more seasoning. Our wings were actually good, but it was only 5. We picked up a pizza but the flavor was off not sure what it was not even chili flakes helped. Our dinner food was okay, nothing special. Now for the prices, they're ridiculous and don't match the food. You have other Hilton properties within the area Torrey pines/la Jolla that serve fine dinning with better prices. Food itself is a 2-3 stars.

Nothing really special about the food or menu, only came here because I was at the Hilton Torrey Pines for a conference. I ordered the shrimp toast ($24) and it was 5 pieces of shrimp on a soggy piece of garlic press drenched in a salty sauce. The waiters were really nice though! Just don't think the food is anything special and is overpriced.

Typical burger & fries -- nothing special. Service was fine. Was it worth $32? Nope. Only reason we tried this place was because we had a conference at the Hilton Hotel. Highly unlikely to ever return.

I came here with a party 7 for dinner on a Saturday night. We waited over an hour for our entrees and the food wasn't anything spectacular considering the price. The staff was nice and were trying their best but the service was too slow for me to call this a satisfactory experience. However, the staff did offer us free dessert to compensate for the inconvenience which was a kind gesture. The TJ Caesar salad wasn't anything special and was actually quite spicy (personally not my taste) I couldn't even finish it. Overall, will not return to this restaurant again. If you are staying at the Hilton at Torrey Pines I highly recommend you go to a restaurant in downtown La Jolla for a better meal.

I don't know why this place doesn't have good reviews. Stayed at this hotel for a conference in mid-November, a total of 3 nights. I eat here every night and all of the meals I had were delicious. I had the Margherita pizza, truffle fries, Seabass, and the arugula salad with chicken during my stay. All were excellent and not reminiscent of a hotel restaurant at all. Additionally, the views out on the patio were beautiful. Can get busy with only 1-2 bartenders, but patience is a virtue.

Ambiance was nice and service was great, but the sea bass was pretty disappointing for $42. I had to ask for salt & pepper since I didn't feel like the sea bass had much flavor. Also, I couldn't taste much of the truffle oil in the truffle fries. They just tasted normal normal fries with shaved parmesan and parsley.

We had a wonderful time at the Terreyana Bar at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, contrary to the reviews posted in Yelp. My husband and I stayed at the Resort for a weekend, going to the MCAS Miramar Air Show. We dined at the bar, next to the restaurant, on Friday and Saturday night. Ambiance of the bar is relaxing with great view of the golf and a magnificent sunset. The busser was very courteous and attentive, and the servers checked on us several times, in filling our water glasses and clearing empty plates, during our meal. The bar has a good selections of food and drinks. Although the carne asada chips we had on the 1st night looked better than it tasted, the fig/strawberry salad and the pepperoni flatbread on the 2nd night hit the mark. The merlot was yummy, and the Orange Ave Wit draft beer was very delicious. Overall, great experience at the Torreyana Grille, especially, not having to leave the Resort for food and drink after busy days at the Air Show.Thank you, Hilton, and the parking staff, bell boys, front desk, housecleaning, and restaurant staff! We will be back again, when in San Diego area :)
