Tom Cat Bar & Grill

Local dive bar. Drinks are cheap, plenty of seating which is a plus! They have a jukebox for music. Got the michelada - which was solid. Need to come back to try their wings!

Big mid. Came here after a Reddit hunt for the best wings in SD, and sigh. The Tom Cat wings were just ok, not spicy at all despite the many jalapeños on top. The lemon pepper wet? Oh no. They were salty to the point of being inedible, and we sent them back to swap for the buffalo mild wings, which were decent. The vibe is divey, which is alright but... it was just so dim. And it took 20 min for our food to come out, each time. Also, I got a hot tea, and it tasted like leftover coffee was in it, and was charged $2 for it. In the vein of Randy Jackson, It's gonna be a no for me, dawg.

Okay, the wings here are bomb!I have been here a few times before but just to drink. My coworkers were raving about their wings, saying that they were the best in SD & I had to go back to try.We went on a Friday night & it was popping! I have never seen it like this but apparently this is a great dive bar to go to watch sport games & the Aztecs were on. They have tables all throughout & 2 couple of pool tables in the back.Customer service was friendly & service was quick. Unfortunately, they did forget a couple of dishes but we opted to just cancel it. The food surprisingly is really good for a dive bar! They even serve steak.Tom Cat Signature Spicy Wings: So good! Crispy & juicy.Cha Cha Wings: My fav! They described this as a spicy, peanut buttery sauce & I was intrigued. It def tastes way better than it sounds. Loads of flavor!Pastrami Sandwich: Thinly sliced on a buttery, crispy bun, yum.

Let me be clear: THEY DONOT HAVE FREE CHICKEN WINGS ON FRIDAY HAPPY HOURI say this because a google review (that I'm still trying to find its validity) led me to think they did, hence leading us to Tom Cat Bar. The bartender looked at me like I was a good but kindly said that there is no such thing as free wings at Tom Cats since the three years he's been there. Hopefully someone can take care of that review.But it's all good, we still ended up getting the wings, Tom Cat Style and BBQ. The Tom Cat Style wasn't as spicy as we expected since it came with a whopping (highest spice level). If I ate the jalapeños whole, which I'd never dare myself, it would be spicy for me. My man ate every last thing on his plate and was fine. To each their own when it comes to spice. The BBQ honestly was for some sauciness and to chase the spice if needed. Wings were 12.50 each.Beer was .50 off for happy hour. We went with 805 which is officially my go to beer (I've graduated from my modelo days ‍)Dive bar vibe. The place was nicely filled throughout our time there. Table and bar seating, a pool table, tvs, and what I believe was a modernized juke box were the noticeable amenities of the space.

To my surprise, this place is actually quite decent for a dive bar! Their Tom Cat's wings are really good. We got other appetizers such as fried mushrooms, fries, all were good. The only thing is bar food is quite oily so don't expect the healthiest food here but a great cheat meal.

I have been looking for a bar that is a dive with great food, great wine, great service and bitchin ambiance. This my friends, is it. Nestled in a strip mall parking lot is a bar that exemplifies what a great bar should be. The chicken wings were delicious and not freezer burned like most places you go to. There was a sort of Pho flavor depth that was wonderful to dip into house made ranch dressing. The housemade potato chips were crisp and so tasty that they went so fast! My happiness truly came from being able to order a classy glass of Justin wine instead of awful house wine. THANK YOU for being amazing TomKat!!

Visited 5/13/2023A Lady Friend of mine started Bartending here a few years ago and I've been following posts about the great food here.Joelle told me it had some Famous Special Chicken wings. Thought it was about time to check them out.Nice little place with lots of seating, Nice Bar, plenty of TVs for sports nights.The Staff is Amazing. All the food I've tried has been very tasty.Tonight I had The Signature Tomcat Original Chicken Wings. Wow. Just a little spicy but for me perfect.The Fried Mushrooms were cooked nicely. Loved Them.The Patty Melt was done to a perfect mid rare. Great flavor only wish it came on Marble Rye instead of plain rye bread.The Beer was chilled perfectly for a warm day.Nice Bar and can't wait to return to try more of the menu.Special Thanks to Joelle for the great experience.

Tom Cat has the best signature wings - they're jalapeño and green onions on top of the juicy spicy wings. These are literally my favorite wings ever. Their garlic parmesan wings were also amazing. I love how it's a "wet" sauce and not a dry sauce. These fried mushrooms were actually something I have never had before but were also so good. The mushrooms were so juicy too! Our server was so nice and chill - thought I was starting to get hungry waiting for my food! But I knew it was totally worth it. Although the inside can be very loud as it's a dive bar, it's a great place for some food and drinks.

Ambiance::: In sort of a small shopping center (not really, it had a liquor store, this bar & a few other random things). Parking is right out front, I've always found a spot. Inside its like a casino (dark) but I think it goes with the chill vines. There are lamps and lights it's just dim. Service::: I always order to pick up and they are kind when I get there. Never had an issue. Oh yeah, you can only order online for pick up, not over the phone!Food::: I've only had three items there which I love. The garlic parmesean wings, Tom cat style ( with grilled green onions and jalapeños on top). The wings are flavorful, full of garlic, light parm & they are wet rubbed. Next is lemon pepper, also a wet rub which is hard to find. It's a very good combination of both flavors and is a top choice in my home. Last, the fried mushrooms. They are NOT oyster mushrooms, more like baby portobello. Sooooo good. They are always fresh, the breading isn't too thin where it comes off easy or too thick where you get chunks of it. Be careful biting in them because they are juicy and hot. They come sprinkled with parmesean (I get extra). Price::: ehh. You get 8 wings for about 13 the mushrooms were 9.

Hours of operation are 10:30AM-1:30AMas I was just there and staff told me so ... and asked if Yelp could update the Tom Cat Bar n Grill hours of operation.Had a Jumbo Hot Dog n Onions... a Hebrew National lightly grilled and on a real toasted bun. Very Good for a hot dog.American Classic Aura inside, with seating about 90-95 as I counted all the chairs and stools set out at tables and bar.Enough TVs on the main walls to see about any sports action on any day...SSS
