Just moved into the neighborhood and checked out the tacos at Tierra Caliente. The restaurant is upfront and there are also groceries, mostly dry/canned goods in the back. No frills, you're here for the food and it does not disappoint. The tacos were amazing, some of the best I've had in Chicago. Will definitely be back to try the rest!

Best tacos in the city hands down. The place is a hole in the wall but who cares when they are serving up the tastiest tacoa around! Steak always but the barbcoa is the bee knees as well!

Visited at 12:15pm on a Saturday. The place was hopping with no empty seats at the counter and a line three deep; all eyes were on the soccer match on TV. The trompo was in use but there was a holding area for the al pastor on the grill. It seemed like merely a brief hold due to their steady turnover. I saw the spit whittled away at twice while I was there. A basket of lonely looking jalapeños begged for snacking while I waited patiently for my tacos. A good combination of crispy, fatty, juicy bits and a few dried out pieces produced a great contrast of texture. A tasty steal at $2.00/taco and well worth the 15 minute wait. They have a small parking lot but street parking was ample.

This is my spot for tacos! Amazing food and friendly great staff. Orders are always speedy and on time. If you want to try something new, try their Campechano taco (Asada/ Al Pastor together) You won't be disappointed.

My designated taco spot! Traditional, fast, Chicago! The salsa roja is bomb btw. No cutting corners on the quality and you can expect consistency in the flavor. Can't ask for more

I pass this place all the time and never stopped in. Finally came in craving some good tacos and these guys are great. As you can see they don't skimp on the meat. They got a little store going on too but that's for necessitates, like hot hot sauce and whatnot. You can dine here or take out. Order with the little kitchen in the front and pay for it in the back. Btw I've had a lot of al pastor in my life and this place is BOMB.

They've got great tacos here. Happy their kitchen is finally up and running since relocating from Armitage. Decent prices AND a parking lot. If you live around there or are in the area, definitely worth an add to the rotation.

Great food doesn't have to be served in a fancy place with fancy prices. No. It can be served in a divey joint with prices that will keep your wallet happy as well as your tummy. The tacos al pastor here are outta this world. As well as their carne asada tacos. And really cheap too.The place is nestled inside a grocery store so you can pick up some El Milagro tortillas and Valentina hot sauce whilst you're at it. The staff is all 100% mexican with mostly mexican clientele so you know that's a good sign. And the kitchen is in the open where you can see so you don't have to worry about a behind the wall kitchen where they might be scraping off the cucarachas off the griddle. I've eaten at some high falutin' taco joints here in Chicago and in Miami that promise "authentic" mexican, "street food" tacos and a bunch of other marketing malerkey. And then charge you premium prices for subpar food. Pay no heed to these charlatans. So you can take your frat boy taco joints in Lincoln Park, Wicker Park etc and place them you know where. This is the real McCoy.
