Thida Thai

This small, understated, unassuming eatery is a hidden gem among Smyrna's chain-dominated restaurant scene. The menu is surprisingly extensive, given the size of the place. I have never had a bad meal here. In addition to the expected Thai dishes (Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, curries, salads, and soups), they also serve various kinds of pho, fried rice and stir fries, a fairly large variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri (they added a sushi bar in recent years), and different bento boxes featuring smaller portions of some of their dishes along with other treats. The food is always presented with a bit of a flair, too.The food is outstanding, but visitors to the restaurant should be aware, this is a small establishment with a small staff. (I suspect the staff may be mostly family, but I do not know that for sure.) Dining here usually requires some patience. This is not a fast-food restaurant. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go. During busy times, waiting for someone to acknowledge you when you walk in may take some time. Waiting for service once you are seated may take even longer. Food may arrive at your table sporadically. I have eaten at Thida Thai on numerous occasions with various family members, and it is not unusual for one or two of us to get our food well before the others. Once everyone has finished their meals, it may take some time before the check is delivered. These are not meant as criticisms, mind you. It is merely how they operate, and, in a way, part of their charm. The restaurant seems to do a considerable take-out business. On many of my visits, there has been a fairly constant stream of people coming in to pick up to-go orders. Thida Thai shares a building and parking lot with a Subway restaurant. This may have an impact on someone considering whether to give Thida Thai a try. It shouldn't. If you enjoy quality Thai food, and you have the patience, you should pay this place a visit.

Super yummy food! The one sushi roll was a bit too saucy, you could barely taste the roll. The fresh spring didn't have much eat in it, I would've liked more BUT, the sauce was delicious! A little bit of slow service but it was a small establishment, seems like a mom and pop shop.

We were promptly greeted and seated within seconds of arriving. They have a great menu full of so many options including sushi. This time around we enjoyed the dumplings, pho and curry and it was all so delicious! It's a laid back and casual atmosphere. The staff weren't too social and were more direct than friendly but they always made sure to promptly remove excess dishes and that we had our beverages refilled. All in all I recommend this place. Before we left they had groups of people waiting to be seated so they definitely seem to be well established and the popular place to be on a Saturday night.

Food is great. We did an order pick up for 6 people. We gave them 1 1/2 hour heads up. I was surprised they added an 18% service charge 'for the kitchen staff'. Non negotiable! Unheard of! I mean would they have done an auto charge add on if we dined in? I was told it's an auto charge for anything over $100. I am a generous tipper but I thought that was extreme for take out. Out the door dinner was $175 for 6 people -- for take out.

I've tried many Pad Thai but this is probably one of the best Pad Thai I've ever tried! It was so perfectly cooked and packed with lots of flavor. I got tofu as protein. Sushi was not so good. It had 1 tiny piece of salmon and crunch inside with over 3 pounds of rice. There was so much rice on the roll that I had to bite a bunch off. It wasn't balanced at all. I ordered the food to go. They told us 30 minutes and we arrived in about 40 minutes and still had to wait an extra 20 minutes so it was an hour wait for 2 items. But overall the inside was like an average red painted restaurant you always see.

I know I was really hungry, but everything tasted really good tonight. I started eating before taking my pictures of the food, LOL.The calamari was perfectly cooked and was a great appetizer. I got the chicken pad Thai bento, which came with some california roll sushi which was great! The rice was moist enough, which many places don't get it right. Most other places the rice is too dry. Maybe a bit more vinegar flavor, but now I'm just getting picky. The spring roll was nice, the chicken pad Thai was outstanding with a lot of flavor. It may have been a bit more "wet" than I am used to, but it was really good. Staff was really friendly and attentive with their service. Will definitely be back if I am in the area again.

A hidden gem in a sea of strip malls off Sam Ridley. This charming spot is next to Subway and should not be passed up! We started our meal with Tom Kha which was very balanced in flavor, perfectly sweet, tangy and sour and addicting. The fresh spring rolls were also very good and I appreciate that it was cut into smaller pieces rather than served as a whole or half.For our entrees we got the curry fried rice with beef and Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Both were cooked just right (noodles were not over done, rice was also perfect) The only improvement would be the noodle dish, which could use a little more meat. Service was very friendly and attentive even as it got busier. Overall I am very pleased with my experience here and can't wait to go back to try more dishes!

Dont be deceived by the exterior. This place is EXCELLENT! One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. The food is authentic and richly delicious. Service is also great.

Had lunch here last week. The pad thai and massaman curry were both excellent! Service was also nice. Great place to eat!

Thida Thai makes something as simple as a chicken fried rice an amazing entry! Absolute beautiful presentation too! Tastes extremely fresh with a slightly nutty taste. Servers were kind but difficult to get ahold of.
