Came here on a Friday afternoon and it was alright. The host was very rude and the service was pretty bad overall. Ambiance is nice and the overall aesthetic was very appealing. The food itself was also really good. We started off with miso soup and our food came out shortly after and I was thoroughly pleased with what I ordered. Food: 10/10Service: 3.5/10

This is my second time at The Koi Sushi and Sake Bar. The first time was several years ago, so I am glad to be back to eat more sushi! It was Friday evening when my sister and I decided to drive down to downtown Tacoma. There is street parking and paid parking lots all throughout the area. The interior is decorated with darker tones, so I imagine at night it is quite dim inside the restaurant. The hostess couldn't get us a table for two, but there were seats available at the sushi bar. We ordered three dishes to share:- Small Sashimi $48, chef selection of 6 different kinds of sashimi; 12 pieces served w/miso soup. The waitress asked if we wanted two miso soups, we said yes. - Salmon Lover's Roll $20, spicy salmon and cucumber topped w/ salmon, lemon slices and soy mustard dressing. Served with a dollop of wasabi and ginger. - Citrus Roll $20, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna inside with salmon and mango on top and yuzu sauce. Served with a dollop of wasabi and ginger. The two rolls were good; however, the Salmon Lover's Roll was very citrusy. More so than the actual Citrus Roll we ordered. I was pleasantly surprised with how big the sashimi slices were. I wish they sliced them into more pieces because the two slices could have been easily more enjoyable if they halved the pieces once over. I felt obligated to eat the pieces all in one go, rather than take multiple bites since sushi is meant to be consumed in one bite.

I walked in on a weeknight and was able to get a seat at the bar without waiting. Service was wonderful; my server was knowledgeable about the menu and was comfortable answering all my questions about their gluten free options. I've never seen so many delicious specialty roll options that were gluten free that didn't involve the chef taking away the sauce that makes the roll special. I really appreciate the attention to maintaining the flavor while being inclusive to dietary restrictions, so thank you from the bottom of my heart! I loved the Three Amigos Roll so much that I ordered a second one! It was also nice to have some mochi ice cream to finish off my dinner, and I loved how they even made it look nice! Thanks for a delicious and memorable meal!

We saw this place on Instagram and were in the area so we decided to check it out on a Saturday afternoon. The presentation of the food was very nice. The fish seemed pretty fresh but we weren't so sure on all the fusion pairings (ie: chili sauce on sashimi). Also, some of the pieces of sashimi were cut too thick which made it difficult to bite which was rather unfortunate. Given the portion of food, the price was pretty average. We appreciate the freshness and aesthetic presentation though.

Went here the night before Valentine's. This place is so busy! Make a reservation. Even with the constant movement around us, everything was great. The service never missed a beat. She was kind, fast, and so welcoming. It has a very romantic vibe with the dim lighting. Perfect for date nights! Parking near the area could be better and is the only pitfall unless I missed a lot or something. My partner didn't enjoy her food but that's her problem because who doesn't order sushi at a sushi restaurant. She said the salmon teriyaki was dry. I ordered the lobster roll and MAN was it delicious. Please also get the tiger eye. Chef's kiss! I definitely recommend.

Service was excellent and the sushi was good, but not stellar like some of the bay area establishments.I found some rolls to be just too heavy on the sauces, especially mayonnaise based sauces. which end up hiding the flavors of the fishes. Let the fish be the star and dab the mayo based sauces if needed. Size was average, at least not too small as that would have immediately resulted in a multi star take down.It should be noted the fish was fresh so no worry there. If you are staying at the Marriott, this is a no brainer and you will come out ok. Could be a lot worse!

Hands down the best. We traveled a hour to get here today and it was more than what we expected. The fish was soo fresh and melts in your mouth. The atmosphere was good and quiet. I decided to come here after an influencer reviewed it on IG. It did not disappoint for sure. Affordable and soo much food. We got the sushi set 2 from the happy hour which was $27 with 5 nigiri pieces and 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll. The wasabi leaf is a personal dislike for me so I took it off. Each piece was unique and so yummy. The Rainer box was gorgeously with the presentation as well and colorful; just look at the marbling on that fatty tuna! The tuna taco was surprisingly such a well balanced and not fishy at all. All of this was $90 which is way cheaper than seattle pricing.

I order a new item from their menu but do not know the name of it under the noodles section. The manager walked up and asked how it was I said good. He told me to leave a yelp review because it supported them the most. The chick and broccoli was well seasoned the noodles I'm a big noodle guy. It was good but it could use a little more flavor. other than that it was a great dinner to have.

I had the pleasure of attending a special Yelp elite gold and black event today. I have only been here one other time back when I was in undergrad school. We had the most lovely experience. The food was generous, delicious, and fresh. The service was great! We got to meet and chat with the owner Tim. Tim is such humble, kind, and wondering host. I would 10/10 recommend coming here! Be sure to check out their happy hour!

Cafe in TAM was closed foiling our original lunch plans. Staff suggested Koi. Mid-day Wednesday and an unassuming neighborhood set the bar low. We were blown away! Great service, reasonable prices, generous portions. And AWESOME fresh fish! We will return!
