The Village Kitchen

A real neighborhood gem, The Village Kitchen serves up fresh, home-style Italian food in a cozy unassuming dining space. Each dish comes out hot and freshly-made. The pizza has a thinner, crispy crust which I enjoyed, and as a bonus the pepperoni is halal! The pasta dishes are very hearty and generously apportioned. You wouldn't usually think of veggies as craveable but the mixed roasted vegetables here really are something you want to keep coming back for, especially the sweet carrots with blue cheese, and fried cauliflowers. The staff are all so friendly, and because the friends I came with are regulars, we even got cappuccinos and sweet fresh dates on the house. Will be back to try other things!Credit cards now accepted.

Great food! I had the chicken piccata and vegetables. Fantastic. Eating area is a bit tight, but everyone was polite making it quite workable. Not the place for private conversations, though.

Now they're in the tipping business. After being cash for so long they realized they werent getting all the tips they could be so they were credit and went online. Price of pizza went up and don't forget their tip! Cost has gone up about 35%. No wonder they seem to have much lower business than before. We go maybe 1/4 or less the amount of times we used to. At the current price can easily get better for cheaper. Usually they'll close randomly for 5-6 weeks at some point too.

Simply stated - outstanding! Hands down the best eggplant parmigiana sub in the Boston area. Nobody's close!! The pizza here is delicious. Napoli style with a thin crust that folds up when you eat. The balance of cheese to sauce is perfect. And, the menu is full of specials and other enticements. So many to choose from. What's evident is the time and love this family owed establishment puts into cooking. You will always be greeted with a smile and friendly hello. If by chance you have room for desert - try the homemade cannoli with REAL Cheese not the filler used by so many other places. So there you have it dear readers - this place is not to be missed in this quaint village in Cambridge. Enjoy!

Wow! Talk about delicious!! We went here on a whim not knowing what to expect and we're not let down! The eggplant, tomato, ricotta, spinach pizza was to die for. I'll be dreaming about it. The crust was perfectly crispy from the center to the crust. The flavors were perfectly blended and the eggplant was crispy! 10/10 would recommend and come back!

Fav local place. Food never disappoints and staff are very welcoming. Food is very fresh too. Highly recommend!

Love this place. Best pizza in the neighborhood and the people are always friendly. Cash only. Keeps their costs down.

I didn't even get to try the pizza. The proprietor on the other end of the phone was so rude that, when I asked him to slow down and listen to what I was saying, he hung up. So much for this local business. All in all, offensive. Fortunately, the pizza business is very competitive so there should be no problem finding a more civilized establishment to deal with.

Absolutely delicious turkey sandwich for lunch, prepared with care--flavorful tomatoes and peppers, fresh baguette, perfectly toasted, perfectly seasoned, perfectly drizzled with olive oil and balsamic. Ate it well past being full because it was so good. Thank you, Anis!
