My wife and I were looking for a place to grab an early dinner before an event happening at the Chicago Theater. The Vig was a recommendation from a friend for a low key, good vibe, great food spot. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the staff was fantastic and the vibe was on point. 10 out of 10.

The Vig is a great, neighborhood spot in Old Town for happy hour. The one downside is that they do get very busy and will be difficult to get a table for parties more than 2 lol We stopped by last Friday night. We hung out at the bar hopping for a table but that never happened. The staff is extremely nice and their old fashioneds were delish if not a little heavy handed with the pour. Check it out! w

The Vig is a Sports-Themed Parlor in the heart of Old Town. I recently visited The Vig to celebrate a friend's birthday after a show at Second City. We made a reservation over the phone for our party of 14, and from start to finish, the experience was good. We started with drinks and sampled a variety including Bloody Marys, Chardonnay, Aperol Spritz, and Limoncello. Everyone in our group enjoyed their drinks. The food was equally impressive. We ordered the Mexican Torta, Peri Peri Pasta (both with and without chicken), and the bread with three spreads--artichoke and kale, spicy feta, and brie with apricot. The flavors were spot on, and I particularly loved the bread with spreads.A couple of friends tried the steak and couldn't stop raving about it. Since it was our friend's birthday, we requested a cake. The staff was kind enough to bring out a slice of cake and ice cream with a sparkle candle, adding a special touch to our celebration.Overall, I had a fantastic experience at The Vig and would highly recommend it for any occasion.

I've lived a 15 minute walk from the Vig for a year now & I don't know how it took me so long to come eat here! It was really good - I was very impressed with all the food we got!!!! I started with an espresso martini which was pretty average - not bad, but not amazing either. Then we split the fries, tuna tacos, old town brussels salad, and the kale and artichoke & spicy feta spreads. The fries were my favorite & definitely some of the best I've ever had. They came with garlic aioli and a chipotle mayo. By the end we were scraping the last bits of sauces up because they were so good. We were very impressed with our salad too -- the dressing was light & mildly sweet. Tuna tacos were yummy too, but on the spicier side which I liked. I could have gone without the spreads, they weren't anything to write home about. Sadly, none of my friends would split the lobster deviled eggs with me, so I'm looking forward to going back soon to try those!!!!

Swung by The Vig for dinner after a show at Second City. We were a big party and they were easily able to accommodate us. Our server was awkward at first but then she quickly got around to being able to help us all easily. We tried some crisp draft beers and they were good. We tried the bread and three spreads platter with the warm spreads and all of them were sooooo good. We also tried a side of fries, cauliflower au gratin, chimichurri steak, peri peri pasta, Mexicali vegan torta and pan seared salmon. The food was surprisingly good for a sports pub. The cauliflower au gratin and keep peri pasta were a pleasant surprise. The Mexicali torta was also amazing but they should maybe ease up on the pickled onions a bit. The vibe was fun even for a sunday night. I will definitely recommend this place.

Since my first experience at the Vig was so great I thought it would be the perfect spot to stop at for my friend's bachelorette. However, our server wasn't very friendly and kind of made the experience a little uncomfortable. The food on the other hand was DELICIOUS! We ordered various spreads and they were all very tasty. We also each had a salad (I ordered the Brussels sprouts one and it was just perfect!). The Mac and cheese was really good too but we definitely over ordered so we didn't get a chance to finish it. The truffle fries and aperol sprits are always a must!

Came for brunch. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the Vig Burger. I had the Beyond patty version and loved it. He really liked his as well. My boyfriend's brother and wife ordered the parmesan fires and salmon omelet. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I really loved the ambiance of this place. Nice long bar, modern seating, and decor was great with all the betting stuff. My boyfriend told me what "the Vig" is in relation to betting. The drinks were great too. My Irish coffee was really good. The service was great too, we got some free swag. All the staff were attentive. We were visiting but I would definitely return when back in Chicago.

We were in from out of town and a friend recommended this spot for brunch! We went on the earlier side, around 10:30 and it was easy to be seated. We originally had a reservation for 11, but they were kind and seated us early! It was a beautiful day so they had the windows and doors open - even provided sunglasses on the table if the sun was in your eyes. We watched the place slowly start to really fill up around 11/11:30 - seems like the place to start your day if out bouncing around bars.I ordered a prosecco to drink and it was a decent portion for the price, my boyfriend liked their selection of beer as well. The brunch menu isn't huge, but I feel like everyone can find something on there. For the price, this is a great deal because the portions are truly HUGE! I ordered the Avocado toast, and was met with a giant plate housing two huge slices of toast with all the fixins. This was such a surprisingly flavorful dish, I couldn't get enough of it. Highly recommend to any egg/avocado toast lover!I definitely would come back here for a night out or big happy hour with friends.

My initial visit here was enjoyable...on a recent Saturday evening so was bustling to say the least. Good cocktails-particularly the Bronx Tale, which included a spiced pear...interesting mix of a good bourbon drink.Food was enjoyed as well-various dips were tasty, and the bread and cucumber slices a good mix of chewy and crispy for bases. Spicy Feta was my favorite. Dinner-wise, the Paradise City steak sandwich was great-the parmesan aioli on the side that had pesto on top was a great topper, while the mac 'n cheese side was tangy and a good pairing.Service was good and it's a high energy place. We sat in the back near the kitchen and back bar which we enjoyed.

Food was pretty good depending on what you ordered. I got the Mexican torta with normal cheese instead of the vegan cheese and really liked the entree. My table also ordered some spreads (spicy feta, Brie and apricot, and artichoke and kale) with pressed bread. These were also amazing! However some of my table ordered the peri peri pasta and said it was alright ... but not the greatest pasta they'd had / not exactly what they were expecting. Reason for the lower stars: we were celebrating a birthday and ordered a chocolate cake. They were super nice to put a firework on the cake so presentation was awesome. However, normally restaurants do not charge for complimentary birthday desserts. We were not told we were going to be charged either, so we were shocked to see this on the bill. This was totally fine and we paid for the cake but just wish this was made clear by the server. The cake itself was also pretty dry and overly sweet for our taste. Didn't feel like it was up to par with other similarly priced restaurants.
