Happened in by chance after checking out the building post construction. The inside is very beautiful and this spot is well furnished/designed to be cozy. We ordered a burger, bread plate, dozen oysters, and brussel sprouts. My husband tried a whiskey highball and we ordered a couple Shirley temples for the kids. Overall drinks were good. Food was also good but a bit heavy handed with the sauces and on the salty side. Otherwise, had exceptional service and a wonderful experience with the kids. It is a bit pricey but we knew that going in.

Finally got to try the new bar at The Lodge and loved it! The first time we went they were closed (they had the wrong hours listed on their website but they are fixed now). Glad we tried again and even got in for Happy Hour! Our first two drinks were our favorites (the Brown Derby & Sage and the Garden Tipple. Well-balanced for mine and the Tipple was so refreshing! Our second round was good but nothing special. I could barely taste the smoked rosemary syrup in the Confessor's Old Fashioned, but it was still good. One of the other highlights were the Alaskan Halibut & potato fritters. So good! The potatoes were creamy and there were lots of chunks of halibut mixed in. Nice and crispy and went great with the squeezed lemon and remoulade. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Excellent decor (there's a unicorn head behind the bar!) and service. My husband had the pitch-black Manhattan and said it was one of the best he's ever had!We had the Artisan American cheese plate and it was ok - while most of the cheeses were excellent there was a side of old raspberries and the juice ran underneath most of the cheeses. Raisins were weird/ unappealing being on the stem but tasted ok. Really wish it had honey and a few pieces of bread instead of just the crackers. We enjoyed it though!

Gorgeous bar with a really nice ambience and fantastic staff (shoutout to Kathy Jo and the male bartender whose name we didn't catch). We happened to be the only guests that night and they made us feel right at home. Food and drinks were both great - they have a rotating menu and use primarily local ingredients so everything tasted fresh. The wagyu burger is a solid choice if you can't decide what to get. The staff told us that on some nights they even have live Spanish guitar music - we will be back!

Nettle pesto and proccutio flat bread with blue cheese and back truffle sauce. Awesome! Also had the smoked Rosemary old fashioned. Great spot!

The whole St. Edwards hotel building is worth a visit, and The Tonsorium Bar is one of most unique features. Along with its historical use, this renovated area of the hotel is a warm and friendly retreat, with a pleasant outlook on the grounds. We enjoyed a light meal and good drinks at the bar top with friendly servers.

I stopped in for a beverage and light dinner after spending the afternoon at the Vita Nova Spa. I ordered the elderberry cider and the prawn cocktail. The cider was really delicious, though kind of spendy. The prawn cocktail was meh. Excellent cocktail sauce with plenty of horseradish. However, the prawns were no bigger than my thumb, and were very chewy...which means they were overcooked. Overcooking prawns for a prawn cocktail is unforgivable. They cannot hide in a cioppino or sauce, they are all alone on top of the bed of greens, waiting to be dredged in cocktail sauce. Poor poor chewy prawns, I really expected more.

The grounds are beautiful but if you've never been here before, finding the place could potentially be a bit challenging. I'd been to the State park before (before it became a hotel and bar) so I had a bit of an idea of where this cute little speakeasy bar might be, plus we also wanted to walk around & see "everything" before having our drinks. I will say that I would have ended up here much sooner (I've been wanting to go check it out for the past year or maybe even 1.5 years) but the fact that you either have to have a Discover Pass or pay $10 per car for parking, was what delayed me in making it to this bar. I truly feel that the Tonsorium Bar should validate parking and then they'd have a lot more customers. I already knew that the food and drinks at the bar were going to be pricey, and didn't want to pay the $10 parking fee on top of that. I finally found a friend who had a Discover Pass and who also wanted to check out the bar, so I did eventually make it!Once inside the building you need to find stairs and go downstairs. If you see an old barber chair, you know you've found the bar! They had live music when we went (and it was really good too), not too loud, not too quiet, just the perfect volume. The staff uniforms seem to be a green dress shirt or blouse, and all the servers & the bartender were nice and helpful. The fries were very good but a bit pricey ($9 seems a bit much for fries) and I enjoyed my cocktail. They also had quite a few items on their non-alcoholic menu (nice for those who don't drink or the designated driver) but I wish they would get some non-alcoholic rum as that is my favorite, and sadly that was one of the few things they didn't have. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you will probably love this place, as they have a lot of foods on the happy hour menu as well as the dinner menu to accommodate. Foods seemed to come from the restaurant upstairs and it was nice to see them bring the foods past us and get an idea of what all the menu items looked like. I kind of wished I'd gotten the steak salad, as that one looked really appetizing when they brought it out.Since this bar is "downstairs" there isn't really a view of the grounds, like the bar upstairs has, but this is definitely the "popular" bar, probably cause of it's cozy feel and speakeasy vibes.Looking forward to coming back when the weather gets warmer and maybe combining a walk/mini-hike around the grounds with a trip to the bar.

Such a cool basement bar - feels like a speakeasy and is in an old barber shop. The mixologists know their stuff!

Connie our server was the worst server I've ever had. The "dinner" menu was terrible as well. The portions were not dinner sized especially for the price. The location is beautiful it's to bad this restaurant is so terrible managed.
