We had a reservation for my wife's birthday on a Tuesday at 7pm. We ubered so I can't comment on the parking/valet situation. We were greeted by a couple super friendly hosts & were sat immediately in one of the main dining areas. Our waiter, Travis, was amazing the whole night. Super friendly, helpful, attentive, not overly intrusive. He even helped close off an air vent since my wife was cold. He waited til we were finished with each course before bringing out the next, & kept our waters full all night. The pace at which the food came out was very comfortable for us. We ordered the fried calamari, the 8oz filet mignon & 16oz ribeye, & we shared the bacon-braised green beans & cream corn with Benton's bacon. The calamari was fried perfectly & was not rubbery or fishy tasting at all. It went perfectly with the remoulade sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly & seasoned very well. The cuts of steak were good quality as well - very tender & minimal gristle. We thought the steaks overall were on par with other top steakhouses in the area. I liked the cream corn more, wife preferred the green beans. For dessert, we got to pick a complimentary birthday dessert from the menu so we got the peach cobbler! Really good as well.Ambiance - this is definitely what makes the restaurant so unique. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house, & our experience felt like we took a step back in time. They had Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole playing in the background. Since we came on a Tuesday night, we pretty much had the entire restaurant to ourselves.I was initially skeptical after reading some of the lower rated reviews. However, we personally didn't experience any of the things that people were criticizing.Overall, great food, outstanding service, & really unique dining atmosphere. Highly recommend for a special occasion or date night!

Note this place has a minimum spend requirement and I went here on business. The food was GREAT! Such a beautiful and historical atmosphere. Service was 4/5 stars. They tried to keep up with us but I feel as if I was annoying our server. I would definitely come back if I personally could afford it. The bisque wasn't "the best ever" like it claimed to be and it was lukewarm on arrival. Tea selection is lacking especially since the home used to have a tea room. Other than that this place is without a doubt an experience. Highly recommend taking your business partners here for a big WOW factor.

blackened chilean sea bass: 8/10 the standard filet: 9/10creamed corn side: 10/10smith house cheese grits: 10/10half baked chocolate chip cookie: 9/10decaf french press coffee: 8/10 super great restaurant! we absolutely loved the creamed corn and my parents said it was the best grits they've ever had, very light and fluffy. i loved my sea bass it was super yummy and the filet was great too! don't think you can go wrong here everything we got had a very high rating. we went here for a birthday so they gave us the cookie dessert for free! they said they baked it fresh so it'll take 7 minutes and they brought it out in exactly 7 minutes, we clocked it everything said, we probably won't go back lol everything was very good and got a high rating but nothing i am dying to go back forsuper great service and cool decor with an interesting history! you can't go upstairs and see the rest of the house because it's for members only...i put in the reservation notes to seat us away from any taxidermy because i am afraid of it and i saw a picture of moose taxidermy that fellow yelpers posted (a big thanks to you all) and the hostess kindly mentioned it and did not seat us in the scary room! thank you standard at the smith house. i also recommend reading their story on the menu it's so funny bathroom: 7/10normal bathroom it's cool. historical building so i dont think they can do much but it was a normal bathroom so it gets a 7parking: i don't think there is any parking specifically for this place since it's downtown - we ubered!

I went for dinner while on a solo trip to Nashville for a concert and stumbled upon this restaurant. It is in an old house, so the atmosphere is amazing. I had the fried green tomatoes and the standard filet. It was one of the best steaks I've eaten. I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of it. Fernando was the bartender and my server, he was very attentive. If you are looking for a quality dining experience, this is the place.

The ambiance here is amazing and provides a very unique dining experience. It's an old house turned into restaurant and is stunning. We ordered some old fashioneds at the lounge while waiting for our table and were able to take in the charming interior fireplace, high ceilings, and sultry ambiance. We then were taken to a separate part of the house to our table (will attach pics). Our waiter was very personable and super helpful with answering questions and giving recommendations. They are very catering towards dietary restrictions and/or allergies. What we ordered:Filet mignon tartareSpinach and strawberry salad- simple yet unique with the lavender vinaigrette(special) 28 oz Porterhouse- half T bone, half filet mignon, delicious Side of bacon green beans- the sauce was delicious, I was dipping my steak into itFood was tasty, nothing wowed me. Probably more a spot for a special occasion but I'd come back for the bar. Definitely a spot to check out and a place that you would discover something new at every visit.

Very unique dining experience. We came because of the exterior of the place looked very cool. Snagged a last minute reservation for five. When we walked into the old house turned into restaurant, we were full of curiosity. I asked the hostess a bunch of questions regarding the house. He did not rush us at all or brush us off. Instead, he gave a detailed description of the history of the house and what each level is used for, and what cool things to look for. The place was beautiful, and full of cool features that only older houses have. Our waiter was super helpful with answering questions and giving recommendations. We had several appetizers that all tasted amazing. I ordered the ribeye steak with cream corn, and my friends all had the petite filet. Everyone enjoyed their food. Highly recommend this place if you are near downtown Nashville!

I had dinner here with friends. For my review I think it is important to understand I am not a fine dining type.I started with the Lump Crab Bisque, which was very good. I could taste the crab. I had the New York Strip for my main meal. It was very good. The star of the meal for me was the side of creamed corn recommended by our waiter. The creamed corn was probably the best I have ever had. We had a peach cobbler for dessert, which I did not love. The restaurant is in a Victorian(?) style house. The rooms seem to be true to the period. They sat us at an excellent table in front of a large window. A beautiful seating. They had an extensive wine list, and we took the waiter's suggestion. The service was excellent and the waiter made several excellent suggestions (always appreciated).Everything was good. Was it worth the price? I am not sure, for me.

The vibe of this place is everything! The bar is beautiful, high ceilings, huge fireplace, decorated for Christmas. We ordered a Manhattan and an old fashion while waiting for our table. Once at our table we ordered the calamari, the best calamari I've ever had, then fried green tomatoes which come with crab stacked between. Both are delicious. We ordered the tomahawk, I feel like we were a little over sold on the temperature because we were told the medium is more like medium rare, and so on, so slightly over cooked for our liking. It was a good steak but could've been better, disappointed,. I hate to even say anything because the whole ambiance of the restaurant is just everything! I only say this to recommend you order the temperature you actually like. We had a great bottle of wine with the steak, the server was fantastic. I definitely would like to go back and try a different cut or order medium rare next time. It's a very interesting location with all the history!

Wow!! Please get Sean and Peyton!! Truly what a sweet and intimate experience. I just enjoyed the service. The wait staff was incredible and so so kind. I am never going to forget this. Our food tasted incredible. I could've had a smidge more salt on my ceasar but that's my personal preference. Otherwise, everything truly was incredible. No plate was left anything but empty.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience all around - atmosphere was so cozy and beautifully decorated. Service friendly and prompt - food was incredible. We started with the calamari and then I had the blackened Chilean sea bass and hubby bone in filet- we ended up sharing everything which worked out perfectly - we couldn't recommend this restaurant more and will definitely return next time we are in Nashville
