We came here on a Monday night after our flight had gotten back into Atlanta. Our waiter was patient and very nice, which we appreciated after a long day. It wasn't too busy in the restaurant either, not a lot of people, so the wait staff was very attentive. It was pretty cold in the restaurant though. I'll have to bring a jacket next time.We started with the smoked gouda Mac n cheese, which was very creamy and cheesy. It only needed a dash of salt and pepper to make it taste perfect. We also started with the steak tartare and the bbq spiced pork rinds. What a perfect blend. It was as decadent as you'd expect a tartare to be. Definitely awakened my taste buds. For our entree, we shared the buttermilk fried chicken, which came with collard greens in a honey thyme gravy with sweet potato cornbread. The fried chicken was delicious and the breading stayed on which was very pleasant. The sweet potato cornbread tasted more like a cake and seemed to have brown sugar or cinnamon in it as well. It was very good but I wouldn't have normally paired it with fried chicken. The greens were good as well with the gravy. Great pairing. The creole spiced red fish with cauliflower was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved the spice on it, but it wasn't spicy (for the people that don't like spicy food). The crab stuffed potato puree was absolutely excellent. I couldn't eaten that by itself and been totally satisfied. I didn't care for the sautéed spinach (let's be real, at this point all the nutritional value has left it). Overall great experience though! I'll definitely be back.

If I had to sum my experience up in one word, it would be Astonishing. From the Pre-Arrival to the departure, everything about The Southern Gentleman (TSG) was amazing. Deciding to take my sistie out for her birthday, TSG appeared in my Yelp search results. Exploring the images and the reviews that appeared I decided to checkout the website. After falling in love with the menu it was a green light. I clicked the link to make a reservation and was taken to Open Table. The process itself was simple, easy, and to the point. Once it was booked I was able to send the info to all those in my party as they could add it to their calendars. As we decided to go on a Saturday at 2:15 pm, I called TSG the day before to ensure that when they closed at 3:00 pm we wouldn't have to leave. As I anticipated, since we would be inside already, we didn't have to depart while they switched over from brunch to lunch/dinner. The young lady who answered the phone was super pleasant, very vibrant, and understood my question. She provided first call resolution and further enhanced my excitement to experience TSG. Can you tell it was my first time? LoL!!!Finally Saturday was upon us and it was time to go. As TSG sits in the area with all the shops, parking wasn't the easiest on the street, however, there is a valet option. TSG sits on the upper level so needless to say I was lost for a few minutes. Walking up to the restaurant, the scenery is gorgeous and the ambiance is immediately set. Beautiful clean lines, white drapes, open patio, glass front, I'm talking all of that and more. The space is infectious and truly draws you in. I opened the door and was greeted by a hostess with a huge smile and pleasant demeanor. She welcomed me in and asked how many. Once I provided her my name she showed us to our seats and the TSG experience was in full go mode. Taking a moment to get settled in our booth and take in the great artwork, eye-catching bar, and beautiful hardwood floors. I told y'all, astonishing. Mykieya approached our table and I was instantly amazed. Her smile, her warm introduction, her service first approach to taking our drink order, whew! Mykieya understands the art of providing stellar service which led to my astonishing experience. Ok. Now! Hear me out. We have gone through the Pre-Arrival - Awesome. I just brought you on my journey of arriving - Awesome. By this time I am on a Happy Service High and I haven't even ordered yet. Speaking of ordering... Babeeeeeeeeeee!!!Hear ye, Hear ye! As if the service wasn't enough, the nerve of management to hire a chef that literally knocked EVERY SINGLE DISH OUT OF THE PARK!!!!! I'm talking flavor, texture, blends and soul pleasing moments of pure bliss. Whew!Let's talk food:For Appetizers,Mac & Cheese - Cheesy, Flavorful, Perfectly Done, WELL above any restaurant made Mac I have ever had. A truly homestyle, grandmother made experience. Chocolate Chip Banana Bread - This secret dish was spot on. Sweet with notes of Savory and all moments of soft baked, well crafted goodness. Deviled Eggs - OhEmGeeeeee. The Deviled portion (LoL) of these eggs was thick, creamy, well blended, well seasoned, and then... as if I wasn't already in love. The gall of the chef to top it with crumbles of perfectly crisp baconnnnnnnnn. Mj Drink,Sweet Tea - Hunni, the brew was Brewin and this tea hit the spot. Sweet. Southern. Stirred. Very Delicious. Very Demoure. My Main Dish,Southern Fried Chicken - Why did I order this???? This dish stole my entire heart. The pancake tasted like my mother was in back showing off with that cast iron skillet. Crispy edges, soft middle, thick, and huge. This pancake was a showstopper all by itself. However, hold on because in comes the Maple Syrup. Whoa! The syrup was thin and rich. The thinness of it allowed the pancake to soak it up even better. Forget the fact that the chicken was well seasoned, well battered, golden fried, southern seasoned, and best of all... The Bombbbbbbbbbbbbbb. Yes! Forget all that as the pancake had and still (4 days later) has me in a chokehold of love and yearn for another. Every Single Thing I Tasted at TSG has a place in my foodie museum in my head. The portions are great. The pricing point is in line with the quality of the food. And who could forget the service. Great Good. Great Ambiance. Great Service. This was a TRUE DEFINITION of a 5 Star experience... I'll be back VERY SOON!!!!

The most spectacular meal I've had in quite a while! We made a reservation here for a group of four celebrating our lovely bride-to-be. The service from the moment we entered the door was already beyond our expectations. Everyone was very warm in greeting us knowing the occasion, and they seated us in sofa chairs toward the back to give us comfort and privacy. Our server, Jay, continued the excellent service by recommending dishes and even gifting us one of the appetizers for us to try and a glass of champagne for the bride. Toward the end of the meal, he even surprised the bride with a blueberry crumble dessert lighted with candles on top for an extra touch. The food, oh the food, was amazing as well. We ordered some apps and entrees to share as a group: creole spiced red fish, braised short rib pot roast, shrimp and grits, white cheddar hush puppies, fries green tomatoes, smoked Gouda mac and cheese, and our table favorite - sweet potato cornbread. We were stuffed by the end of the meal and finished every last bite with pure happiness. When Jay first told us that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, we were skeptical, but by the end of the meal, we had every trust in that statement. Truly nothing was less of perfect in the courses we were able to try. I would definitely return again for the food and to celebrate different occasions in such a nicely managed restaurant! No wonder it is considered one of the top ten must try restaurants in Atlanta; truly lived up to the title. :)

Southern Gentleman is located in Buckhead Village and has validated free parking in the shared deck.My friend and I came for happy hour. Service here was rushed and I didn't care for our server. Our server was the type to not write down our orders and come back to ask for what we ordered and brought out my wrong drink. When mentioning the wrong drink was brought out he said "Taste the drink and if you don't like it, I'll get you the right drink"... I didn't like the drink and I wanted the drink I ordered!!!We ordered the fried green tomatoes, hot buffalo chicken slider, black truffle brasstown patty melt, and the white cheddar hushpuppies. I found all the food to be pretty good and enjoyed it. The patty melt and hushpuppies were my favorite. I liked the food, but the service here was not my favorite and vibes were definitely mixed.

This might be my new favorite restaurant in Buckhead! I went during the early evening when it wasn't very crowded and I had an opportunity to truly enjoy the atmosphere. I love the clean and open environment. Everyone was very friendly. I received excellent service from Jada. The chef personally came out to ensure that the food was good and that we were enjoying everything. I started with the deviled eggs and the fried green tomatoes over pimento cheese. Both were excellent. I also ordered a side of pork rinds to eat with the pimento cheese and they were amazing! We also tried two desserts, the blueberry skillet cake and the pineapple cheesecake. Both were very rich and delicious. The cocktails were also on point. I had a delicious mocktail, the Blavberry Elixir. My friend had an espresso martini and enjoyed it very much. I will definitely be back here!

Was visiting ATL and wanted to do Sunday brunch before doing a little shopping so I did a little research and made a reservation at The Southern Gentleman. The restaurant is a bit tricky to find as it's tucked away in a high end shopping area yet it is on the 2nd floor above retailers and other restaurants.Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated. Our server promptly arrived and welcomed us and gave us a few minutes to decide on drinks. I went with the espresso martini which I must say was one of the best espresso martinis I've had! I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of sourdough toast as our server said it was one of her favorite brunch dishes. Presentation was on point and the flavors of the dish were absolutely yummy ... the grits were smooth and creamy and made with cheese which was an amazing touch to the dish, the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce was unique in flavor specifically being paired with shrimp and grits but it totally worked! Our reservation was at 11am and by 11:45 the place began to fill up so we were happy we went with an earlier reservation.Overall a great dining experience because of the food, the service and the aesthetics of the place (as it has a cozy yet chic vibe).

I love this place. The food is delicious. We went for brunch. A few things that I did not like were the Bloody Mary drink. It was absolutely disgusting. There was bacon in it, and the texture was awful. However, the food was good, you have to try the grits. I wish there were more options for vegans or vegetarians. Service was attentive and welcoming. The ambiance was appealing, with vaulted ceilings and cool decor. I would definitely go back because it's located in a nice shopping plaza; parking was accessible and not costly. Considering this was a brunch in Atlanta, I am so glad they did not have a DJ playing loud music. I will definitely definitely go back to Jess snack drinks with mommy associates free.
