The Original Pancake House

We were looking for a good breaksfast on a "June Gloomy" SoCal morning while on vacation. After searching Yelp we decided on The Original Pancake House in Poway and we could not have made a better choice!The wait was long (25-30 minutes) for a Wednesday morning, but the wait turned out to be worth it and then some. The portions were huge, and the quality was excellent. The atmosphere was chaotic, yet enjoyable. The wait staff was attentive. Special kudos to the manager who was seating guest nonstop and made sure to engage every customer. Also kudos to the hostess who made sure the wait time was kept to a minimum and was also very engaging. I suggest this as your breakfast place of choice when in the Poway area.

We grew up in Portland Oregon where the Original Pancake House started. Today is our wedding anniversary so we decided to have breakfast here to celebrate the day for a bit of nostalgia. It didn't disappoint. It was busy when we got there but we got a table immediately. We were lucky we got our favorite waitress Diane S. She is always so bubbly and fun. I had the Apple German Pancake. One of their specialties. It was delicious as always. I took more than 1/2 home. I tried to get my husband to split it with me knowing there's no way I would eat the whole thing, but he had his heart set on his memory of the pigs in a blanket from his childhood. A great breakfast for us both.

My family loves it here and after this last time going we won't be returning.Operations were absolutely horrible. Restaurant was not busy when we arrived, we got seated and our drinks quickly, but took 35 minutes for us to place our order for food. Seated 8:42am, order placed 9:15am, food arrived 9:22am. Two ladies that were seated 2 minutes before us placed their orders and got their food quickly. I went inside and asked the server that took their order of there was someone available to take our order. She said she'd ask who our server is, which didn't make any sense because she served the ladies directly behind us. A different server came out, extremely flustered and took our order. The seating and organization for serving sections makes no sense if an outside server is neglecting her section and an indoor server is taking orders outside. A couple who was seated 15 minutes after us got their order taken and food was brought to them within 5 minutes. How doe guests who were seated 15 minutes after myself and my family get to place an order and get their food before we placed ours ? Wanted to take my kids out for breakfast for my birthday before I had to go into work.We should've went somewhere else. I'm actually pissed off that I gave this establishment money after the horrible service. Food was also sub par.

Great spot for a fulfilling, classic breakfast. The service was helpful and accommodating. This location also had a pet friendly outdoor patio area that was lovely for our needs. The pancakes were great. We also got the Greek omelette which I really enjoyed and the veggie omelette. Their orange juice was also some of the best OJ I've had, it must have been freshly squeezed. Overall, solid place to grab breakfast!

4.5 if possible. Food is delicious but service is a bit slow sometimes. Very cozy inside and cute decor. Food portions are huge and worth for the price. Egg dishes are the best here. There is also yelp waitlist for when it is busy on the weekends. A lot of parking. Our new go to brunch!

So impossibly good!! The pancakes. It's all about the pancakes. Lots of options to choose from. The Blueberry Pancakes are my favorite. I recommend the triple stack with a side of bacon and two eggs. Sometime I will add two slices of toast.Enjoy!!.

I love the OPH franchise, however, this location is my least favorite (although closest to me). I don't come here unless this is what is selected by whomever I'm having breakfast with. The food is usually good but the staff aren't very pleasant. I dont like to compare but the Convoy location really has their routine down. They have employees walking around filling empty coffee and water glasses. I almost had to stand up to flag someone down to fill my coffee cup here during my last visit! Also, when Covid hit they started giving you cream in plastic containers and continue to do so instead of using creamers. a smile and taking care of customers goes a long way, as most know!

TO BEGIN: I'm being forced to be gluten free by my body - I hate it :( HOWEVER -the Gluten Free pancakes here are DELICIOUS! I don't miss anything!! The crab cakes were divine and worth the tummy ache Service was quick and efficient and friendly

My toddler loves this place. He calls it Chef's House because of the logo and always orders his 3stacks of blueberry pancakes with bacon for decoration (because he never eats it) and eggs. Great family spot with friendly staff and quick service.

Solid spot. Great breakfast. I wish they were open for dinner. Maybe take out at least or something. An get busy Saturday morning but the food is great
