Pretty nice rooftop bar with a fantastic view! I came here last Tuesday on a reservation for four. It was my friend's birthday. We checked- in and it took 10-15 minutes for our party to go up. We were seated at a coffee table with a couch and two chairs. The two chairs were quite small so we all opted to sit on the couch because it was more comfortable.I got a Whidbey Island Iced Tea and it was pretty good. I wished they had a bigger selection of cocktails though. There was nothing else of interest that I wanted to drink.Very chill place to talk and hangout with friends. The music is very vibey and relaxing. I definitely would come to the Mountaineering Club again, just to see the view. I love it so much.

I always love coming here! The views of the city are absolutely stunning- you can really see it from every angle. And the cozy PNW camping vibe really adds to the whole Seattle aesthetic. This is a great place to take visitors because it really has a Seattle feel! The drinks are divine, lots of ingredients I have never heard of but they are well curated and delicious. They also have a great mocktail menu! The food is pretty good, but I would say the drinks are definitely the main appeal. This is somewhere I would go for drinks or happy hour, but definitely not for a meal. The shrimp cocktail was good, nothing special. We really liked the potato chip nachos and ended up ordering two servings because they were delicious and pretty small. Whenever I come here, I find the service to be really slow. I think they are just understaffed- usually my server has 8+ tables and is running around so it takes a lot longer for things to come. We sat at our table for at least 30 minutes before our drinks came. 20% tip is included no matter what, so the servers don't seem to have much incentive to give great service. I would return for drinks as long as I'm not in a hurry!

The Mountaineering Club is located on the 16th floor of the Graduate Hotel in U District. When you get here, talk to the person near the elevators and they will badge you up. At the outside of the bar there are top level views of Seattle. There are tables in the middle and the bar is to the side with a couple seats. My first drink was the whidbey island iced tea ($16) which was one of their drinks on tap and was strong. I was intrigued by the ingredient gummi berries and the bartender said they were Haribo gummies. My second drink was the bitterberry no. 2 ($16) which was a good drink and was mezcal-forward. I came at 5:30pm and asked the person at the elevators if they had happy hour and she replied yes until 6pm. However when I got to the bar, the bartender told me they didn't have happy hour. I think that's something they should be on the same page about to avoid any false advertising. The bartenders were nice and the views were good. The cocktail selection was decent but nothing to write home about. Note that they have an automatic 20% gratuity on all checks.

Came here on a Saturday night around 4:30pm and by the time we left around 6-ish it was pretty packed! Service was great, we had friends trickling in every 30 mins and the server made sure to return multiple times to check on us. Drinks were delish, reasonably priced. I got the Whidbey Island Iced Tea, it was strong but flavorful! I can't attest to the food 'cause we ended up eating on The Ave. Ambiance was great, although it was kinda chilly (end of Feb) & there was small draft coming in from the outside, they had patio heaters that counteracted that. Would love to come back during the summer if I'm in the area :)

Kind of a strange place. The view is very nice and the setting itself is nice. But the food is pretty bad and very limited. I am guessing they don't have full kitchen. The drinks were ok but at a higher price point than their quality. The service was kind of disinterested. A one and done experience.

This place was so cute and fun. The drinks were good and I really enjoyed the s'mores. However I am removing stars for the experience. Our group was told multiple times to quiet down and we were reminded multiple times that our 90 minute reservation was coming to an end. They said there was another group waiting for the table so we moved outside but never saw another group take the table. It seems like they just really wanted us out of there. I would say this is not a big place for big groups.

I've been to a few events at the Mountaineering Club, and they all ran fairly smoothly. The food was average and I think the drinks were limited to wine. I also came once with my husband on cold spring afternoon. We didn't have a reservation and had to order at the bar. None of the cocktails were appealing to either of us, so we ended up ordering Manhattans and the salmon dip. They were fine. The bartender couldn't tell us if the seats in the bar area were open, and the upstairs hostess was nowhere to be found for over 5 minutes. I am admittedly not a patient person, so we gave up and just found a seat outside. It was windy and chilly that day, so we quickly finished our drinks/food and left. Overall, my experiences have been fine. The view is nice, but there are better ones in Seattle with better food, drink, and/or service. I'm never in U-district so the location and parking situation are less than convenient. I'll be back since it seems like a few groups like to host events here, but I wouldn't return on my own.

So... it finally happened, The Mountaineering Club lived up to its poor service reputation. We had the worst service possible. It took FOREVER to get any service, I had to send the hubby to the host to get anyone to our table, and when she came she acted like she was doing us a favor by gracing us with her presence. Stop hiring sanctimonious Gen Z's! We only stayed for a round of drinks and some apps. My group had 3 people first timers and 2 of which were celebrating Birthdays. This would be rated zero stars, if possible. Or if you do go, have zero expectations and just enjoy the views.

Went to the mountaineering club for a nice little date night on a Thursday. Highly encourage making reservations as it was pretty busy but our reservation had us seated quick. We had just a couple drinks that were good to okay but not amazing, wish there was a larger cocktail list. We didn't order any dinner but we did have the make your own s'mores which was a lot of fun for a date night.Over all would recommend. Was fun but didn't blow my socks off.

Great place for brunch during the sunnier season!I came by with a friend back in September, and we were seated pretty quickly per our reservation. The nice part was that we were able to select the specifics of our table, such as both outdoor and heated. The views were to die for - from the mountains on one side to the water and cityscape on the other, you could truly see everything that Seattle has to offer. As I have quite the sweet tooth, I decided to get the cinnamon roll skillet. Although it wasn't on the menu, I was able to order a side of bacon as well - but don't expect your regular strips. These were pork belly strips that were cooked in a similar fashion, which made them just as greasy, but far more tender, flavorful, and filling! The cinnamon rolls weren't as sweet as you'd expect, but the creamy layer on top balanced it out perfectly. Plus, they had chocolate chips in the middle! The only thing I didn't like was that there were a couple of bugs (bees/wasps/hornets, I can never tell the difference) that kept hovering over our meals and climbing onto the plate! I understand that it was the warmer season, but I was really surprised considering how high up we were. They didn't sting either of us, but just something to be aware of.Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely try the evening next!
