The Melt

Well. This is a first. My 8yo son asked me to rate this restaurant on his behalf. I tried coaxing as much info out of him as I could, but he said "it's really hard to explain" why this experience was so exceptional, that he requested I write a review before we were done eating. He's never requested this of me before, so I suppose that in and of itself speaks to his dining experience. Here's his review (he had a kid's burger, french fries, and a lemonade): "The food was really good. It just tastes really good. I like that the restaurant is also really cool (it's hot outside today). The lemonade is also really good." While I was trying to coax a review out of him, my spouse ate his fries AND my fries ("I thought you were done."), which I suppose means that he also liked his meal.

Cleanliness 4Cost 3Cuisine 5Customer Service 5Came upon this place on yelp. Their burgers looked delicious so we gave it a try. We ended up getting sandwich melts. They were delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly. To add a couple slivers of avocado it upped the price $2. Little pricey imo. The fries were decent but a little pricey for the amount they gave. We would definitely recommend this place for their sandwich melts; next time we will try their burgers.

Rather than going to the Fair to overpay for greasy fried food, Joe brought me to The Melt, for greasy food.I was super excited to try the food here, as the concept was interest to me. The idea of super melty cheese on a burger, sign me up! I got a cheeseburger and a side salad. Joe ordered a grilled cheese and fries. We both got sodas.My burger looked great! I picked it up and it started dripping a clear grease. Luckily, I hadn't pulled it up towards my mouth yet or I would have gotten a stream of grease on my shirt. I grabbed a few napkins and put them underneath my burger. By the end of my meal, those napkins were completely saturated from grease. I don't know if the grease was from my burger patty or from the cheese. Either way, it didn't have any flavor and was just messy. Burger tasted good, though. My side salad was a complete surprise. The croutons were made from grilled cheese sandwiches. They weren't as crispy as a traditional crouton, but I liked the cheese in them. Salad was mighty tasty.Joe didn't eat all of his grilled cheese and fries, but he said he wasn't all that hungry. Sodas were not national brand sodas. I tried the diet cola but ended up refilling with iced tea. The ambiance is like any modern eatery, industrial with hints of wood. One of the walls is a garage door that leads to lots of outdoor seating. The day we were there, there was a nice cool breeze coming in, which I didn't mind.

Excellent service from Amin, super friendly and helped us with everything we needed. Our food came out quickly and was delicious!! The burgers were smash-style and so juicy. I always go with garlic parmesan fries, goes perfectly with the burger. If I don't go for the burger, I would always get the Italian Job; it really gets the job done Lots of tables indoors and ordering tablets near the entrance.

I really really enjoyed it here Great ambiance I love the fresh flowers and open spaces. Great for big groups and sports teams. The prices were awesome $10 for a nice nice quality burger. I loved all the sides and the service was very fast. My only complaint- the burgers are almost unbelievably greasy. Even though it tastes awesome! Very oily! I would come back if I'm ever in the area again.

I have never been here and thoroughly enjoyed this place. I got the meltburger with cheese minus the Jalapeno sauce as I'm a wuss. The burger was very good for sure. They also had grilled cheese on their menu that I'd like to try in the future. I also got their garlic Parmesan fries which were really good. When I get these they can sometimes be too garlicky, but these were a good balance. They also had craft soda. I got the root beer which I am always trying wherever I go and was pleasantly surprised by this one. The place has seating both inside and outside, so feel free to bring your pup. The staff were all super nice as well.

came here on a Saturday night and we beat the dinner crowd! The interior is very spacious and well kept-- plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I love how crispy the bread is and they have a great meat to cheese ratio. Their Mac and cheese was a little bland. Their tomato soup is just average. Their Parmesan fries are well seasoned and loaded with garlic-- yum! This a great place for a quick dinner, especially if you are coming with a large group.

Good food for your buck. Hussam such a helpful and charismatic person. We try the steak fajita mac and the garlic parmesan fries.

food: 5/5service: 5/5ambiance: 5/5price: 3/5overall: 9/10 i got a burger from here with caramelized onions and it hit the spot! my only problem is it was a bit pricey and caramelized onions shouldn't cost extra. shoutout to hussam though for hooking my friends and i up with free soft serve and chocolate chip cookies :) if hussam has zero fans i'm dead

My husband and I went to The Melt at Del Mar after picking him up at the airport at 11:00 pm. We are so grateful for their service and their awesome food. Hussam who served us made us feel so welcome with our last minute order. Thank you Hussam. I'm sure we will come back.
