Cute spotThey have a decent amount of craft beer on tap.On the day of the visit, our server was also bartender and the food runner. The food was decent. Asparagus was hard to chew. I had salmon that came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and corn. Decent amount of food for the price.

Ok- hub-hub and I wanted a din-din, and we'd not yet checked out this place. It sounded 'vaguely' familiar, as the Embassy Suites Hotel at Newark airport had what- I think - was the same name/logo. But I digress.One full demerit was granted for having a fantastic patio, but was "not" doggy friendly. Our Puppy would "not" be welcome. Boo. Ok- we were seated instantaneously, and I got a beer right away (yum-yum!). We ordered a charcuterie board and the burnt ends (and that was it). Check out the charcuterie board in the photo below! My god. It was a HUGE amt of food. Now- all was good with the board but the cheddar cheese was darkened/dried out on several chunks- NOT a good sign of freshness! The rest of the board was pretty nice.The burnt ends? Well- honestly, they weren't really burnt, and they weren't really barbequed burnt ends. Maybe I'm spoiled from Texas bbq, but oh my. No comparison. Now the service was fantastic -and they have portable payment terminals (yes! - a major pet peeve is US restaurants that don't have or care to use these (invented in USA) tech that overseas restaurants have used for a heckuva long time - thank YOU, The Local! But the key issue for us was the not-so-fresh cheddar on the charcuterie board- man, that was such a turnoff and resulted in the score. What to YOU think? My fiance and I stopped here over the weekend without a reservation and the place was empty. I was surprised to see a lot of staff since it seemed to be really slow for a Saturday night. We opted to sit at a high top right next to the bar and Amanda was our server. Service for us was good for the most part. It became a little much when we would straight up say NO to wanting additional drinks, food, etc but she would then start listing different items and ask us again. The atmosphere here is your typical local bar but fancy-ish. Everything looks brand new and is kept clean. The Local Kitchen & Tap is a casual spot and gives off a very chill and relaxing vibe. For drinks we both got draft beers, it was cold and crisp. Just how we like em! We decided to share the grilled cheese entree which came with a side of fries. This was reaaaaaal good. The grilled cheese had fried green tomatoes and avocados pieces in it and was perfectly toasted with 2 generous slices of garlic bread. The fries were also delicious - fried perfectly and the dipping sauce is game changer. If you're looking for great bar food this is the place for it. Their menu has a lot of standard bar items but with an elevated twist.

I've driven by The Local several times since it opened, and was excited to finally try it. The interior is huge and gorgeous. They also have an outdoor patio in the summer. I started with their signature mule, The Local Mule. It has hibiscus berry syrup and mixed berries in it, along with limes. It was a really great summer cocktail, just a tad too sweet for my personal taste. We tried the salmon salad and bourbon honey mustard chicken sandwich. Both were tasty. (The picture online of the salad has twice the amount of avocado though.) Looking forward to coming back soon to try more!

I've been staying at a hotel next to the Local Kitchen for 3 weeks and finally stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night.I was greeted and seated immediately by Pauly who also turned out to be my server. Pauly was very friendly and did a great job helping me navigate the menu since this was my first time here.I started out with the Big Bang Shrimp as an appetizer and found them to be a nice size shrimp that had a very good crunch to them when I took a bite. They were sauced very well also, but I didn't find them to have any heat or zest to the flavor. Still good though and I would order them again.The highlight of the meal was the Bourbon Mustard Chicken sandwich served on a pretzel bun with a side of homemade chips. I elected to have the chicken deep fried based on Pauly's suggestion and I'm glad I did. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the Bourbon mustard sauce gave it a flavor that left my mouth wanting more. I'm usually not a fan of things like pretzel buns, but I must say the pretzel bun complimented the chicken and sauce very well. I can not also leave a raving review for the homemade chips as they were deep fried perfectly and every chip had the right crunch.I would definitely recommend stopping in if you are near. I'm just sorry I didn't try them sooner.

My wife and I stopped by for a Friday dinner. Our waiter was great and very friendly. He stopped by the table frequently to help us. Our drinks were also very good. The $5 Titos were a nice deal for the evening. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich but the fries didn't taste as they had any salt on them. My only issue was the plastic cups the water was served in. They were extremely dirty. I think it's time for some new glassware.

Food was mediocre/poor. The "burnt ends" brisket was just tough chunks of meat slathered in sauce. Nothing close to being burnt ends. I originally ordered the chili and that was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. It was watery, only crumbles of meat and mostly bland beans and tomato. Sent it back and got the Good Morning Schaumburger which was just an average burger. Smaller in size and to be honest, about the same as a fast food burger. Server was very nice but the kitchen was very slow. Took about 30m to get the appetizer and then another 20 for the gross chili and then another 30 for the burger. Skip this place and go totally any other restaurant in Schaumburg. You're guaranteed to not over pay for sub-par food.

My friend came to The Local on a Friday evening for a casual dinner. I love how often they will do specialty drink menus or events at the restaurant. For summer, they had a boba cocktail menu. I got the Pop-Egranate Martini and my friend got the Blackberry Lemonade Crush. My martini was well balanced and actually had boba balls at the bottom. They were a but hard to get out without a boba straw so I had to use my fork to fish for them. For our mains, we got the Avocado Fried Tacos & Bourbon Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich (grilled). The food itself was good but we both felt it had sat in the back for a bit before it came out to us. My friend's sandwich was warm and my tacos had some cabbage juice that soaked the bottom of the tortilla. A plus side was our server was a pleasure to interact with and was very attentive. The restaurant was not very full so we got to pick where we wanted to sit and it wasn't too loud. I love supporting The Local and hope our food was a one off situation.

Food was good nothing crazy. Pot stickers were delicious but the burger felt like an average burger. It took about 10 minutes for someone to help us out. During our whole meal, not once did anyone come check in on us out of 3 waiters and a guy at the bar who helped get our order in. They just brought our food and that was it. I ate my meal with no water hoping someone would notice and check in on us, but that did not happen.
