We can only speak to the drinks and service which were both top notch but excited to come back and try the food. (See small menu) My husband had an old fashion and although expensive was one of the best he's had in a long time. Both bartenders were super friendly and gave us good info for the future. We will definitely be back soon to sit outside and have a meal.

In short:A great new space with a nice intimate feel and very friendly service. The food could be really good with a few tweaks. Drinks are well priced. You can round this up a star if you don't see why some people are so picky about food. :-)In long:This spot escapes its strip mall setting practically the second you walk in. You walk past a big covered patio area and through the door on the side; it doesn't quite feel like a secret entrance but it almost has the vibe. There's a bar in back and kitchen off to the side. You can definitely see everyone hard at work. There are a few tables, a few highboys, and a couple of plush step-up booths inside. 2 flatscreens are probably showing the game. You get a warm greeting and a menu immediately. The kids working here are all upbeat, and seem to click with each other. You could imagine all of them going to the same party and blending easily. Jennifer P was the one who took care of us and she was amazing--really brightened our whole evening. We started with a vodka soda (nicely done. Also, pretty much impossible not to do nicely.) and a habanero hibiscus peach margarita. That's a lotta produce in one cocktail, and it works really well. Nice little nip of heat on the finish. Drinks average about $12, which is wonderful pricing these days. Rosemary & Sage FriesThese come out really fast! Couple minutes, maybe. Nice long thin shoestring fries, cooked until fully crisp. There wasn't much rosemary, sage, or parmesan visible on the fries, even though the menu called out all three ingredients. And there was practically none of them in the flavor, either. The spring onion aioli sounded great, and looked pretty loaded up with ingredients, but tasted mainly of mayo. If the margarita hadn't been so flavorful I would've wondered whether I had the sniffles. The hard part is already nailed with these fries--they're cooked perfectly. With some seasonings showing up they'd be pretty rad. Truffle oil would be a cool addition, too, but just nailing the ingredients listed on the menu would be a big step up.Tavern WingsThese are good. They also came out super quickly, somewhere on the order of 5 minutes after she put in the order. So you know they're pre-cooked, at that pace, but the flavor and texture and all that are perfect. Lots of Frank's-like buffalo sauce on 'em, they're messy. You can choose to have them without that, but if you get the sauce, they come with whipped blue cheese dip. I don't remember seeing whipped blue cheese dip before. Good flavor! A bite of blue cheese has about 20x more flavor than this, but the blue-cheese bite is present. This stuff was awesome to dip fries in, but it melts when you try to dip a hot wing into it. So you get just a little runny coating on your wing. I'd put this stuff on a couple things on the menu, but find something more solid to dip wings in.Tavern BurgerDecent-sized half-pound patty, fresh veg, a little sauce, nice chewy bun. This was good, and I'd get it again. We ordered the fries before we realized we could get fries *and only* fries as the side for the burger. So we ended up with more than a full order of fries left over after the meal. Not their fault, that's on me for taking a guess and ordering apps first without bothering to ask the question. But worth keeping in mind if you want to mix and match your sides ('cause ya can't). Maitake & Sausage PizzaThis was the most-frustrating plate on the table. Beautiful crust--nice bubbles on the edges here and there, beautifully browned, a little charring in a couple spots. Underneath it had a bit of darkening, and it had that nice sturdy feel to the underside, at least at the edges. But as soon as you lift a slice, it folds over from the weight of the toppings. I tried squeezing the sides together like a taco and it still fell back down. Here again the single hardest thing to nail is perfect--they have a great crust. It's a little thicker than typical wood-fired pizza places. If that crackery crust is 1 for thickness, and a Chicago deep dish is a 10 for thickness, this is like a 3. They solved the toughest problem, with a thickness not many places do. They accomplished something no one else has figured out. Then they load it with twice as much cheese as they need, and don't let the maitakes dry out enough. The center 50% of the crust was still doughy, but it was cooked through...just soggy. The cheese at first pulled apart like a tv commercial for cheese, but after 3 to 5 minutes, it was congealed and rubbery. The maitakes need to sit on paper towels or something before the kitchen starts building pies. Piling up so many damp toppings let oil soak through to the pan. It's frustrating to write this, because all the recipes are perfect, and they don't even need to replace any of the ingredients. It's just technique/process stuff to dial it all in. I'd love to come back someday and wonder why I left such a mistaken review that first time.

I immediately wanted to order another plate of the Squid ink fettuccine w/prawns after the first bite- LOL. The presentation was nice and the 1st bite of the cherry tomatoes was delectable!! Don't get hung up in the "ink" its not what you think and was a TEN on my scale 1-10. Under $20.

This place has one of the spiciest drinks I've found in the area. The Spicy Peach Hibiscus Margarita is great. A fun vibrant pink color and even more amazing taste. We dropped by for drinks and if there is a spicy drink on the menu my friends can always guess what I will be ordering. Most of the time the spicy drinks I find are only a little taste of the pepper and not much of the spice but this one had all the spice and it paired well with the Hibiscus. With a suggestion from our bartender/server we also ordered the Paper Plane which was another great drink. It gave me citrusy whiskey sour vibes. The balance between the whiskey and citrus was interesting and refreshing. We were greated right upon entry and luckily got the last tall table along the window. It was very busy but with our experience with the staff being friendly, prompt and the great drinks, we are not surprised. They have a sort of speakeasy decor vibe inside, chairs are elegant and comfortable and with the tables being at different levels, I think gives it gives it an upscale vibe and the illusion of privacy.

I stopped in after work for drinks and to pick up 2 pizzas to take home. The pizza was inedible. The bottom was black and tasted extremely bitter and burned. The sauce was one note - garlic. There was no other flavor except bitter garlic and bitter burned crust. This may be one of the worst or the worst pizza experiences I have ever had including any frozen pizza and grade school cafeteria pizza. This is a nice little place and the couple times I've been there previously it was better but based on this experience I recommend avoiding the pizza.
