It was my first time here I've heard great things about it. We didn't have reservations but didn't mind waiting for a place to open at the bar and it only took 10 minutes for one to open. The speakeasy is small but nicely decorated. They had mocktails so we grabbed a couple at the bar, the service was great. I'm not sure the best place to park because we walked the beltline to get here.

Omg! I love this place! Parking isn't too bad, as long as you can figure out where to park. Luckily I parked close by the location and my friend guided me to the restaurant. Since we came pretty late, we didn't have to adhere to the typical 2 hour max. So we were able to enjoy the bar and our seats until closing. Our bar tender for the night was Read and not only were all of his drinks and recommendations spot on, but he was also easy on the eyes. The chef (Javinci) really did his thing in the kitchen! I had the Wild Mushroom Flatbread, per Reads suggestion and it was very flavorful and filling. My drink for the night the was the Sidecar, made with Martel Blue Swift cognac. Definitely well made. Like I said, the bartender and chef really did their thing. And last but not least, the DJ for the night. I don't remember his name but he has definitely mastered the art of transitions, feeling the crowd, and playing oldies that we don't hear anymore. I absolutely loved everything about this place, from the service to the food/drinks, and the atmosphere and I can't wait to come back!

This was my second visit to The James Room in a week, and this time I came for their Tuesday live music night. The band, 6flow Band, was incredible, and the small, intimate crowd at my 8:45 PM reservation made the evening even better. My cocktail waitress, Jay, was friendly and provided good service. Last time, I tried the Dear Summer cocktail, which is cognac-based and delicious. This time, I opted for the Orchid #8--it tasted like a grown-up Capri Sun with a boozy twist, and I loved it!The James Room is quickly becoming my go-to spot for its unbeatable vibes and tasty cocktails.

This place is definitely unique and I love the whole entrance vibe. I went on a girls night and the food for the amount is kinda pricey but needless to say definitely beautiful. The service was good and because we were girls our guy server was very attentive. However my second time around was unfortunately the opposite the service was slow and to the point where we didn't want to eat there any longer. The vibe was completely ratchet and the music was very "Edgewood vibes" needless to say I never went back.

Cool speakeasy spot! I think it is a cafe that turns into a speakeasy at night. The hostess was super sweet and squeezed us in last minute. I loved my espresso martini to celebrate espresso martini day, and the vibes were so good. Our waitress was sweet too.

Cute and sexy speakeasy on the Beltline. Tasteful cocktails and a great wine selection. You get a 2-hour table time, full bar and done delightful tapas to keep your tastebuds happy. We ordered a cocktail, glass of rosè, charcuterie board and a flatbread pizza. Tables are a bit small for dining. Great music and great vibes.

First of all, this place is VIBEYYYYY. Okay? It's giving MOODY, it's giving Sexy, it's giving Swanky. 10/10 ambiance. Service is a bit slow (understandable on a packed night) but the workers are very friendly. (We couldn't figure out how to FIND the restaurant after we parked and when we called, the lady on the phone was so polite and helped direct us to their location!) So why -1 point? A few things, 1. When you're placed at a side table there is literally NO room (sitting or standing) when the other tables are filled too. since it's stool style seating your occasionally going to end up bumping/back to back with the person sitting at the table behind you simply by moving around a bit in your seat. Thankfully no one seems to mind because we're all having a good time. Also the walkways are VERY narrow around the sides (screams fire hazard whew) This was a networking mixer so anyone who walked up to our table to chat had to constantly move side to side/squeeze up against our table because the walkway was just so narrow they nearly blocked the entire path (including servers trying to deliver drinks and other people trying to get by) just by standing near our table. Also..... 2. my friend was having a dry January and ordered the "Designated driver" MOCKtail which is essentially a fancy juice. It was only $3 less than actual Cocktails with like multiple liquors and when they brought it, they only filled her glass HALFWAY and with so much ice (check photo) after about 2-3 sips her drink was gone. Legit seemed like she had less "juice" in her glass, than I had in my alcoholic one. Which seems odd.. like there's no liquor in there, so why skimp on the cup of juice? They were both visually very pretty, but for a mocktail, they sure gave her cocktail portions.Other than that we had a great time! Didn't order anything from the food menu but I plan to come again and give it a try in the future!

This is a cool hidden spot. A friend and I went a little bit after they opened. FYI if you are coming any later make sure you have a reservation. There is a stay 2hr limit. We had drinks as the kitchen was open yet. The drinks were perfectly blended.

So this happens to be my third time here at the James room and it is one of my favorite speakeasies in Atlanta. The only issue I have is the two hour seating and I get it because it is a very small establishment however, if the lounge is not full, I think people who are there spending their money should be extended a little bit more time than two hours. One other take away is that you have to make a reservation because if you don't, it is next one possible to sit at the bar and or a table. The DJ last night was absolutely fantastic. He played tons of 80s music, which I absolutely loved. Not too excited about the menu. I have been there before and there was vegan meatloaf last night not a lot of options. I would love to see more options on the menu. Shout out to the manager that was on duty last night. She was tasked with jobs that she is not used to handling and did an outstanding job. I also want to thank the new bartender who wasfantastic and made my cocktails to order. Thank you, James. I will see you guys soon.

I've been stewing about this for a couple of days now, and have decided to leave this mostly negative review. My wife and I took our adult daughter and two of her friends from college to The James Room on a not-busy Friday night (Sept. 27, 2024). The venue is cozy and cool, the menu unsurprising but perfectly fine. Our server, whom I will not name, was pleasant and chatty. She struggled a bit with the electronic order pad (more on this shortly). The trouble started when the drinks came out. After our server placed two of the five drinks on the table, the serving tray became unbalanced and the server dumped the remaining drinks on my lap, soaking my lower shirt and pants legs. No glass broke, thankfully, but it was a huge mess. Clean-up began and I charitably dad-joked "drinks are on me!" The server muttered, "No, they're on me." There were apologies, to which we all (some of us having been servers at some point in our lives) said, "it's okay; these things happen." The food arrived as clean-up progressed. Drinks were re-made and served. In fairness, these were all quite good -- To Be or Not to Be, Spring Fling, Lost in Translation, Last Word, and an Averna on ice for drinks; Broccolini (somewhat tough), Wild Mushroom Flatbread, Chicken Wings, and Harissa Shrimp for eats. No post-accident visit from a manager.Later, when I asked for the check, our server presented the total, by showing me the sum on her electronic pad: $211. I did a silent double-take. Not an itemized list, just a total. I did some quick mental math, and realized we were being charged for everything. She muttered something about waiving her tip. I handed her my card. She processed it and printed out a receipt. We left.I don't know how these things are typically handled, but I had expected to at least have my drink comped, if not some other drinks comped. Oh -- they still charged their 20% "service fee" that is NOT part of the tip, a terrible new practice by some restaurants in these post-COVID, inflationary times. We left, feeling like we'd been Charlie Browned by the experience. To add insult to injury, when I looked closer at the itemized receipt when I got home, we had been charged for two Last Words. We were only served one (two, if you include the one I wore home on my pants). I hate being confrontational, but AITA for thinking that I would have been right to request something besides the tip to be waived? To my mind, it would have been better customer service to comp at least part of the food and drink, and let ME decide if I wanted to leave a tip or not (I would have, BTW). When a server makes an error, is it the venue's responsibility to make it right, or the server's? As it is, we will not be recommending The James Room because of how this situation was so poorly handled. James Room: be better.
