Some say they're an awesome alternative to driving hours away for some Porto's. I, personally, enjoy their cheese rolls and potato rolls more than Porto's, honestly. Plus, not having to drive hours away is an added bonus. Staff is always friendly, food is delicious, and prices are very reasonable. Plenty of parking too, and not long of a wait to order food.If there's any downside to this place, is that sometimes if you get there too late, they might run out of certain items. In my opinion, that just means I get to try something else since I'm already there, and it also means I'm making a return trip to get the item I missed out on!Glad to have this place in my community.

Tried this spot because I kept hearing about it. I don't eat much Cuban foods but I've had the Cuban sandwich.First walking in there wasn't a warm greeting or anything. Looks like they were trying to clean because it wasn't closing yet but yeah. I like to try new foods in the mornings bc I feel like that's when you get the best for your money. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was delicious. My picky 4yr old doesn't even eat sandwiches ate a decent portion of it. Worth it. I think that was plantain with it. That was a no for me. Too hard. The meat potato ball. I didn't care for the consistency of it. The potato over powered the meat to me. It wasn't bad, it's just not for me. The spicy chicken empanadas was good. I like the flavor and the kick to it. I believe some really fresh ones would do it for me. Should have tried the beef since it didn't really taste it in the potato ball. The cheese roll was good too.

After a recent trip to the Virgin Islands and Miami, all I could think about was the empanadas I ate there and I had to get my fix here, home in SD !! Instead of driving two hours up north to my usual cuban food spot, i randomly decided to yelp and House of Cuban Flavor was the first to pop up on the list -- let's just say I am soo happy to have found them ! Located in a good size strip mall with plenty of parking-- upon seeing the sign, I already knew this was the real deal . Such a cute, clean, homey, and inviting atmosphere . The owner was very kind and told me about all the goods I should try since I told him it was my first time stopping by . Placed my to-go order and waited about 10 minutes . There are a few tables and seats outside of the restaurant, but it's more of a take-out place . Here's what we ate-- Cuban sandwich is a MUST . Sooo fresh and tasty . Shredded pork is juicy and well seasoned . Love the mustard and pickles . Green dipping sauce is fire . Bread was light, thin, and crisp . Yucca fries are the business . This is a solid 10/10 . Empanadas-- meat, chicken, spicy chicken, spinach&cheese . They were all unique to their own and definitely worth getting one of each . They are all sooo delicious . The pastry itself is flakey, light, and slightly chewy-- perfection to your tastebuds . Spicy chicken was my absolute fav ! Potato beef and cheese ball here is one of the best I've ever had ! Jalapeno cheese potato ball is not for the faint of heart-- it's spicy spicy ! I'm going to be dreaming about these balls later lol . Cheese pastry, guava cheese strudel, and mango strudel are all a YES . Overall, you can taste the love and authenticity in the food . I am definitely going to be a regular from here on out ! I would love to be back to try the rest of their menu out and to order party trays for my kids next birthday parties !

If I was driving down the street and saw this place, I would probably pass and assume that the food would just be okay. But this place is truly an unassuming hidden gem that you have to stop by and try. When you think of Cuban bakeries, most people will naturally think of Porto's (me included). But I am so happy knowing that I have a Cuban bakery here in San Diego that is just as good and arguably better! Inside is small and there's about 4 tables inside and outside. They also do large party tray orders so I could definitely see this as a great place for takeout food. The jalapeno cheddar potato balls are amazing! They have that perfectly crispy outside with a great creamy potato filling. So addicting and I honestly could just eat these and be happy. The empanadas were also really good with the spicy chicken filling being slightly better than the beef filling. Nicely spiced and very flavorful. The empanada crust was flaky and perfect. The guave cheese strudel was also very good. We also got the Cuban Sandwich and I think this is the best one I've had ever! Made to order, this was piping hot and it was soooo goooood. A perfect composition of pickles, ham, pork and cheese. If you've never had a cubano, then please try it here and be amazed. It's also served with yucca fries and a green dipping sauce that was equally tasty. We will definitly be back to try more food because this place is definitely worth it!

Delicious food, great service. Must visit if you haven't. The owner is very polite and friendly. We had oxtail, plantains, and black beans with rice, cuban coffee and macaroons.

I missed Cuban potato balls..especially from Portos, so I decided to research where I could find something similar without having to drive to Buena Park or Glendale! Wow I'm so glad I found this spot.... their potato balls were delicious! Bought a dozen beef potato balls for a birthday potluck party and also brought guava cheese and manago cheese strudel - so crispy and flaky! The owner person upfront took our order, very polite and in a happy mood! The restaurant is small inside with 2 small tables, there is option for sitting outside with more tables. When my large order was ready he step out to bring me my food! Nice guy, great service....delicious food!

This is a true gem that should will be a regular spot when I am craving Cuban cuisine. Super friendly service and very quick as well. The jalapeño cheese potato ball was dense in a good way. Good ratio of filling to potato and it was perfectly crispy on the outside. The spicy chicken empanada had a curry kick to it. Good spice level and very tasty. Can't go wrong with guava cheese pastries. There's is so flaky and filled with equal parts cheese and guava. The Cuban sandwich was huge and even though I only had a few bites, those bites were really good. The pressed bread had a nice crunch and the sandwich was steaming from being made to order. Filled with meat and cheese, I definitely recommend. The stars of the show were the unassuming yuca fries! How does something so simple end up being so memorable. I could eat a bucket full of them and still want more. Dipped in the sauce, amazing. I will definitely be back soon to try more things on the menu. I saw boiled cassava and I need to try it.

Reminds me of Portos in Glendale, etc., but without the lines and pretentiousness. Incredible potato balls and empanada. Still have to try their meals.Situated in an unassuming strip mall in Chula Vista, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the pleasant service. They offered to cook up some more from the back when their front display looked sparse. Brought back some potato balls and enjoyed the next day pan-fried. Surprise of surprises,no peas. GF, who has an aversion to peas, enjoyed. Will continue to go back.

Empanadas were tasty and the mojitos second to none. Yet, service was slow and the size of dish small
