The Horny Toad

This is part of a big complex on the lake, don't think that you can't come because of that. The server was very attentive to our request. The food was excellent, and the view just as one would think being on the lake. Music in the background made it perfect.

A cute little dive specializing in fried chicken. I am from a place with a famously spicy fried chicken, so I personally find the chicken at the horny toad to be a little bland and a little greasy, but the ambiance is laid back kind of colorful and fun. The service is always good, and they have a decent beer selection to go with your food. I feel like there used to be more shopping immediately near the restaurant, but there is still a lot to do up and down the street.

We went to The Horny Toad in Cave Creek to celebrate our anniversary, drawn by the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit underwhelming. The food didn't live up to expectations and was not very impressive. We also had to wait a long time, which was frustrating. The restaurant had Christmas decorations up year-round, which felt a bit out of place. On the plus side, the service was good and the staff was attentive. Overall, considering the drive from Old Town Scottsdale, it wasn't worth the trip.

We were so excited to eat here! We drove 45 mins just to try it! The vibe inside was what you'd expect in the area. The food was alright. The server was dry, to the point, and not very helpful. The resort that recommended this restaurant to us also earned us a 15% discount, unfortunately our server and his manager weren't competent enough to apply it. So.. instead of buying another $60 in merchandise, we left disappointed in their inability to run their point of sale, never to return.

First time here and had a great experience!Service was amazing and atmosphere very western theme! We ordered a whole fried chicken with sides of mashed potatoes and slaw! Very tasty and delicious and definitely homemade fried chicken!We ordered strawberry shortcake to go and had four pieces of chicken left, therefore dinner for tonight!Being National Margarita Day, I had a $5 Margarita! Very delicious!Hubby and daughter enjoyed their portions as well!

Best home cooked meal in town! Always friendly, welcoming, & just as you order. Definitely a FAVE when grabbing food in Cave Creek!

What a great place to stop and have lunch. It's got an old school saloon feel to it with stained glass windows and wood architecture. The food was really good but the best part was the waitress! She greets you fast and even with a few full tables she makes you feel like your table is the only one to exist. They have happy hour and the drinks are phenomenal! Bring your friends for a good time!

Always the best fried chicken!! We love coming in for the half of a chicken with coleslaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. It never disappoints. One of our favorite places!

Went for the fish and chips. It was terrible! The fish had been frozen. And the deep fried shell on the cod fell off. Probably frozen on the cod. I won't go back.

Too much salt, they said it is in the oil, but I think they sprinkled it on afterwards other than that it was pretty good
