We ordered the halibut with charred broccolini and the monkfish with blistered asian green beans. We ended up returning the halibut because it was dry and the broccolini was actually broccoli and was so tough, the server actually brought out a steak knife to cut it rather than bring a properly cooked broccolini and halibut. The blistered asian green beans was actually string beans with an asian sauce. I had to show the manager all the strings from the string beans I had to separate, this is actually how to prepare string beanshttps://citycommonscsa.wordpress.com/2012/09/21/de-stringing-string-beans/BUT, the clam chowder was good

Food, service, prices and just about everything. This use to be one of our favorite places to dine. But about a year ago it started going down hill. We would go to the one in Seaport Village for years. First they got rid of the sushi bar, then the quality of food began to go DOWN. Thought we would give the Solana Beach location a try to our disappointment. Fish had no taste, potatoes were like paste, asparagus was mushy (over cooked), our friend ordered scallops and was brought the wrong thing. When the scallops finally came they were over cooked. TOTAL DISASTER.

We stopped here for a family birthday and had a great experience. The swordfish is my top recommendation, but the clam chowder was also delicious. Relaxed atmosphere and good food. Our server was delightful.

Passed by and decided to stop in for dinner. A Daou special that donates $1 to the Helen Woodard Center through September. Four choses of wine along with Lavender lemonade. The clams and mussels steamers were heavenly along with the garlic cheese bread and Chardonnay. Soak the bread in the broth that was a little spicy. The fish and shrimp curry was delicious with coconut curry, jasmine ticeand vegetables.

Good service, nice ambiance, should not order turf in the surf kingdom Medium rare Steak is dry and over cooked. Salad is subpar. Key lime pie is not smooth and rich. Only garlic bread is ok.Thanks Steve the GM for monitoring the reviews and feedback. Please provide feedback to the kitchen for improvement.

If you're a big fan of seafood, you will definitely enjoy this restaurant! So many options to choose from. I was a bit disappointed that they don't have lobster rolls on their menu anymore. Our waitress was really nice but she was also really busy so it took a while for her to take our order.

The clam chowder was a bit too salty and we didn't finish it. The crab cioppino also tasted mostly salty and spicy. In fact, the more we ate the more spicy it got. The teriyaki salmon bowl was probably the best thing we had.

After several visits years apart, this place has been great for service especially and the meals are slightly above average. But so are the prices. You might realize that over the years they have not evolved with newer menu choices, but this is a classic seafood restaurant that won't budge. They have their loyal clientele. For years after winning $ at the races at Del Mar, we would come here or just down the road to Fidel's. Never a bad visit. Of course , we were typically a little happier after winning money, which was nice. Nobody ever complained about anything when we went, and this hasn't changed. Some classic items that I find consistently good - Fried fish, shrimp and chips -New England clam chowder-Fresh baked sourdough rolls -Calamari appetizer -Seafood Cioppino -Grilled swordfish -Grilled Mahi-mahi This is actually still a fish market, as the name says. The glass case is near the front entrance and always has the freshest fish and seafood for purchase. I've been told before that they do their best to locally source all the seafood. One of my childhood friends was a commercial fisherman for over 20 years, so I've learned a little about this industry from him. He knew some local fishermen that would sell their daily catch to local seafood restaurants throughout the county. This location has a Happy Hour, but the other near Seaport Village does not. It remains a solid choice for a wide variety of non-eclectic classic fresh seafood platters, and we've never been disappointed or let down on our visits.

Great fresh fish simply prepared. Vegetables were very good - has roasted Yukons and charred broccolini excellent flavor. Decent selection on wines by the glass. Don't expect fancy food but if you want good fresh fish go here. Service was very attentive. Ambiance nice except for outdoor patio - sit inside restaurant.
