The Fish House Cafe

The food here is fresh and cooked to order. The service is fast and efficient. It does get busy for lunch, so beware of the longer waits. The ambiance is unique here. It's a blend of historical mixed with the cultural vibes of the Hilltop area of Tacoma. It is welcoming and educational. I ordered the catfish basket which comes with crinkle cut fries. The fish was fresh and delicious. The fish and fries were hot out of the fryer. I've eaten here several times and tried their shrimp and wings. This place is highly successful at preparing and providing the best tasting food available. It is my favorite restaurant on the Hilltop. FYI--It is take-out only, so there is no seating.

First time trying this place and it was absolutely amazing. Wish it was closer to where I live. Will go back every time I'm in Tacoma. Food was so hot and fresh, breading on fish was great. HUGE value, can't even get fast food at the price. Tarter & cocktail sauce homemade and delish!

Small business beside gas station, meant more for to go. The parking out front is only meant for commercial loading and unloading but I saw some people park in the gas station, we parked about a block or two away on the street near the hospital. The music was loud while we but service was fast and food seemed fresh. The prices were not bad either. Husband got the oyster po boy which he enjoyed. I got the shrimp and fish basket and didn't end up eating the fish, it was really over cooked.

Service was efficient and nice. Was a slow time of the day for sure. Nice inside area with local articles and papers. Overall great vibes. Got the fish and subbed the cole slaw. Excellent all around. A little too salty for my taste hence the minus one star. But good portions. Tartar sauce was good. Cole slaw was excellent. Fish reminded me of catfish fry in the south, it was yum. Excellent prices. Just a little less salt and it would have been perfect.

Fish batter was really, really salty and the meal only came with a tiny 1.5 ounce container of tartar. I'm sure you could ask for extra but I didn't think about it until after I already left. Fries were outstanding. Crispy and fresh, but missing ketchup. Again, I guess I wrongfully assumed ketchup would be included like the picture on the menu shows it to be.

I am now addicted. This was some of the best southern fried fish I've had since visiting Louisiana. I got the fish sandwich combo. Comes with fries and a can of soda for only $10. That's an amazing price for the portion and quality. The place is small and a carry out only. You would miss it if you weren't looking for it. The service was also surprisingly pleasant and friendly. I would highly recommend and would come often if I lived close.

The customer service is always excellent the food is fire! Love that it is always done with the right texture and taste. Inusualybgetbthe fish sandwich combo or the catfish dinner with hush puppies. And hot sauce after Highly recommended

I had a taste for some hot fried fish and that's exactly what I got at this place! I ordered the fried whiting fillet with French fries and it comes with a Can soda for $12 after tax. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some good fried fish

I've been going to this restaurant since 1999 I know it's been open before but I didn't live in the state. The food is just amazing if you see a line stand in it it's well worth it. They have only raised their prices once in all these years and the owners are fantastic. The portions of the food are more than I can eat for the low low price.
