The Duck In Cafe

I had a fasting blood draw and was looking for a restaurant with a hearty breakfast. Years ago a coworker said the Duck In was a good restaurant to eat at so I thought I'd give them a try..I walked into the restaurant and noticed that the inside was dirty/dingy. I spent 22 year traveling for work and had seen a lot of restaurants so I wasn't immediately put off. I was seated, reviewed the menu and decided on the biscuits and gravy. I was really hungry so I asked the waitress if I could get hash browns on the side. She said if I ordered the deluxe biscuits and gravy the hash browns were included.When the meal arrived, I was underwhelmed. Yes, there were biscuits, gravy and hash browns but the biscuits were about 1/2 inch tall. Together the two biscuits would not have made a respectable biscuit. The gravy was the right color and thickness but there was so little of it and there was no sausage in it. The hash browns were browned appropriately but they were about a 1/4 inch tall. All in all, the amount of food was not particularly filling and cost $13 and change.I could have overlooked the dirty/dingy walls/floors if the food was good but it wasn't. I like supporting small businesses but in this case, I would not recommend this restaurant.

They have standard fare for breakfast and they close at lunch. It's an older building and quite crowded. If you want privacy, this is not the place to go. Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table. It is quite a popular spot. They used to have oyster omelettes and that's why I would go every Friday, but they discontinued that. So I haven't been back in a while.

I absolutely love small, intimate, local cafes where everyone knows everyone. This is Duck In Cafe. Glorious Chicken Fried Steak, while many have this on their menu, few accomplish the awesome sauce it takes to finish a delicious plate. The Eggs Benedict was nicely presented and tastes better than it looks. Friendly small town atmosphere takes me back home.

We had a delicious breakfast this morning. I had the spinach omelet it was filled with bacon, mushrooms, spinach (of course) and your choice of cheese I went with Swiss. Also your choice of toast, biscuit or English muffin. My boyfriend had the shrimp omelet which he also enjoyed.

Small town's favorite old cafe. Looks like right out of the movies. Great breakfasts, probably lunches too. I'd go any day! Plan to stay awhile and have coffee.

We were up in Stanwood for haircuts one morning and decided to stop for some breakfast after we were done. There were a few options around but we decided on The Duck In Cafe. The inside is small but welcoming. There was a small amount of bar seating near the door filled with what I'm assuming were their regulars who were having a great time chatting it up while eating. We were told we could pick a place to sit and we sat near the huge mural on the wall. We enjoyed looking at it and finding all of the small details. Our waitress came to take our order. I ordered The Hunters Special and my husband ordered The Mess. After some time, our food came out piping hot and it was delicious! It's that homey diner food that we really love and we both finished our food with absolutely no complaints. My husband also ordered a coffee which he was great and the waitress constantly kept full. Love that!Speaking of our waitress, she was friendly and did a great job taking care of us and everyone else that was in there. Next time we're in town, we're definitely stopping by!

Eggs are good. Hash browns are good. Country fried steak was good. Biscuit was good. I liked the little bit of butter on it. I don't know what else to say. Oh yeah, they were slammed, so it took a while for us to get our food. However, the waitress came around and filled our coffee over and over again. (like any good diner would, naturally) I quite like the atmosphere, and it's filled with locals. I generally love little diners like this.

Overcooked eggs, microwaved ham and raw hashbrowns. My husband's eggs were ordered over easy, came overhard. My ham never touched a grill, either microwaved or steamed. My eggs were over easy and slimy when I oreded them over medium. Only redeeming quality was the service. It was ok!

Lauraa worker there was drunk when I was trying to enjoy my meal. She was a mess and very loud. The food was ok, nothing great. I won't be back.
