Your new favorite brunch spot on the Eastside. Food is absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the meatball sandwich, breakfast sandwich and seasonal mushroom quiche. Food was served in a timely manner even while the place was starting to get packed. Staff are friendly and inviting. The restaurant is family friendly with wide aisles, inclusive restrooms and changing tables. Love that this restaurant is female owned by a Newcastle native.

What a cute spot! I worked here over lunch and absolutely loved the vibes. It has a really cool, modern feel, and was lively enough to be fun but chill enough to be a good spot to work. Our server was very helpful and kind. I am gluten free and they don't offer many gluten free options, but she asked the chef to make the nicoise sandwich as a salad and they were happy to do it. I would love to see them get in some gluten free bread and baked good options in the future. The salad was lovely, and so was my mimosa! Great service, ambiance, but could use a more inclusive menu.

A diamond in the rough- located in a strip mall, with a fun atmosphere the Coalman doubles as a coffee bar, breakfast restaurant or wine and cocktail bar by night. The bartender greeted many arriving customers by name, an obvious choice of remote workers. Root hash was delicious.

We selected this restaurant bc it was between the two cities meet up with my SIL (sister in law). Boy, we werePleasantly surprised by this hip & cozy ambiance. Entire restaurant looked picture perfect for Instagram moments. We ordered lattes, which was perfect shot of espresso. Both of us had breakfast sandwich, stuffed with protein, eggs, cheese & delicious bread. It took awhile to get our food due to staffing. However staffs are attentive & very friendly. We stayed till lunch closing & never felt rushed to leave as they were closing to prep for an event. We'd love to come back to try other dishes on the menu and their wine selections. Great place to dine with plentiful parking spaces. Bon appetite!

A very good cafe serving breakfast options near Newcastle. We tried the muffin, pepper soup, French mushroom toast and coffee. Everything was great and would recommend this stop for breakfast.

Love the addition of Coalman to the Newcastle neighborhood. Very modern feel and love the concept of coffee bar, wine bar, and brunch. The menu is fairly limited (hopefully more items will be added in the upcoming months). We tried the fried sandwich, BL Tartine, and a blueberry muffin. I would have to say the BL Tartine was my favorite - loaded with flavors (bacon, tomato, and a garlic aioli sauce on a rustic slice of bread). Staff was friendly. We will give coalman another try for brunch in a few months and by that time hopefully the menu has a wider selection - but really glad they are in the neighborhood.

Just had a wonderful outdoor meal at The Coalman. The Spritz tastes just like being in Italy. We had a chop salad and Shrimp Tagliatelle, which were wonderful! As usual great service. Love having them in walking distance from home

Stopped by for the roll and patrol event and buy the sausage sandwich was delicious. It was really fun to meet the owner and always love the food. Nice to meet some other local folks supporting our police department who focus on our public safety. I love that they're making more room for seating to bring all the local folks in. They just updated the menu and there's at least seven things I want to try. I'm gonna have a busy month coming up to try each dish
