Good for brunch with friendly staff and service! Got an array of items to feast on for a mini Christmas brunch and accommodations were done so well. Tried their bot Gouda and cheddar bacon egg sandwich which came with a side of fruit. Served on a crispy toast big enough to share. Next was the chicken and waffles (my all time fave dish). Good to try, but the chicken next time would be good if it had a bit more seasoning on the inside meat. So just be sure to add some sauce on the side. Next was the french toast with nuts and blueberry and blackberries I believe drizzled on top with this good sauce that was a bit of a sweet buttery glaze. It didn't come with syrup but was actually fine without it! The skillet with potatoes and poached eggs were also big enough to share. The hash was a bit soft as I usually like them crispy and seasoned but the two poached eggs made it a good shareable plate again. The burger was a good addition done medium well but just took a bit longer as they're were a few other big tables being serviced. Overall the nice Christmas decor and friendly staff accommodated us well for a pleasant experience.

The worst service possible. Went there today, we order the drinks and they never arrived after 30 minutes. No one even came to check up on us. The place was empty both employees and customers. But of course the prices on the menu are skyrocket. Don't waste your time or money on this place

A quote from their website "The exquisite dining options at one of the best resort hotels in San Diego". Our experience at this restaurant as well as another one was nowhere near this. Now I do acknowledge that COViD crushed the restaurant industry, but when you pay 1000 per night and make claims like this, you don't get a pass. So what went wrong....1). I asked the server if the tacos had sauce he said no. My wife's tacos came out first and they had sauce.2) a gentleman in a different colored shirt (I assumed a manager) delivered the final part of our order and asked me if I ordered anything, I said, "Yes shrimp tacos." We went away and never came back. No, "I'm sorry your order was not out in". No offer of anything else while I wait.... Nothing.3). After a good 15 min I stopped our server and told him I never got my tacos and to please ensure it does not have sauce on it, as my wife's had sauce. When my tacos finally arrived, they HAD SAUCE ON THEM!"4). A friend mentioned to a different server that her daughter did not like the grilled cheese and ordered a hamburger. This was shortly after their food privy arrived and even after I got my tacos the Hamburger sill had not arrived. I am not sure if our friends said said something to someone, but we then saw a guy walking though the restaurant with a cheeseburger..... not on a plate but in his hands! I guess at least he had a glove on, but when is the last time you saw someone walk through the restaurant with your food in their hand? How do I know it was our burger? Well technically I don't, but it did arrive just a few minutes after it walked passed us.5). Son ordered a chicken quesadilla and rather than offering larger portioned adult one, they charged us the 18 for the kids and then added $6 for the chicken bringing it to the same price as the adult appetizer. No mention of the up charge.Anyway, super disappointed in the level of service from every person we encountered here. Definitely expect a higher level of service when I spend money like this.

The service was nice and the food was quite good. The tacos were tasty and the kids enjoyed the setting as well. This place isnt super kid friendly despite the efforts so I would definitely not bring kids back to this property again.

Enjoyed a nice outdoor lunch at the Grill. Per recommendations, the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Shrimp Tacos definitely lived up to their reputations. Poke Salad was also a hit. Enjoyed some of the Fairmont's fantastic iced tea as well. Chill, good service. Certainly if you're staying at the Fairmont, it's worth a trip on a nice day.

Came here for Mother's Day Brunch. To drink I ordered a antioxidant drink with fruits and veggies. It was ok. I drank it. To eat I ordered Espresso Chocolate Chip Pancakes. There were two and they were just ok. I didn't taste much espresso in it. My bf ordered the chicken and waffles and loved it. Only thing he complained about was that his side of bacon didn't come out with his meal and our server didn't come back to check on us til we waved her down for the bacon. And after that she only came back at the end with the check. She was nice, helpful and friendly in the beginning so we were disappointed that she didn't finish off our service great. This place is nice.... Pros:Complimentary ValetNice outdoor seating overlooking the golf courseLive musicFood was good, not greatConsServer started out really good and positive, but after putting in our orders she didn't even come back to check on us. Bf had to get her attention cuz his side of bacon never came.

I'm not into hotel restaurants as they're usually fancy and expensive. Grand Del Mar has been known for it's grandeur. I've had friends visit their fancy restaurant for special occasions and tell me how expensive things were. That was beyond my budget. A blogger friend told me the hotel has a coffee shop that's affordable and has free wifi. There's free self parking too so I didn't have to fret about paying for valet. Then I heard of The Clubhouse Grill which is their casual restaurant overlooking their famous golf course. Friend and I decided to pay a visit as we both thought it would be a fun lunch. The Clubhouse Grill is not located in the main hotel. You have to drive past the resort and up a hill. There's self parking in this section as well. We had a hard time finding The Clubhouse Grill so the valet had to help direct us.We were disappointed by what we initially saw. The interior was stuffy and empty. This wasn't what we had imagined at all. It felt dated and country club-ish. Luckily, the outdoor patio was open and pretty. We ordered:HOUSEMADE GUACAMOLE & SALSA:- This was a nice presentation served on a wooden board. The guacamole was freshly made and thick. We enjoyed the guacamole on the freshly fried tortilla chips. The chips were perfectly salted.SEAFOOD CEVICHE:- The ceviche comes out with half discs of fried corn tortillas. The ceviche wasn't very large. It consisted of bay scallops, halibut (?), avocado, cucumbers, onions. I think it was topped with cilantro microgreens. The first bite wasn't pleasant as something tasted awfully fishy. Friend couldn't take more than a bite. Perhaps it was just a piece or two as the ceviche tasted better towards later bites. I'm not a fan of bay scallops and would have preferred larger (and fresher) scallops. The large half discs of fried corn tortilla chips were delicious.CLUBHOUSE BURGER : - Now THIS was a proper burger. I mean, just LOOK at that glistening patty covered with melted cheddar cheese. The burger was prepared medium and was decently juicy. What we enjoyed the most was the sweet brioche bun that they make in house. It was so soft, mildly sweet, and just wonderful.CLASSIC CAESAR :- I don't know why I chuckled when I saw the caesar salad placed in front of me. The three pungent pieces of anchovy were eye catching. I truly enjoy anchovies in my caesar salad dressing but I don't particularly enjoy anchovies, naked, on top of my salad. Just me. And also friend. The salad wasn't memorable as the romaine lettuce was soggy and the dressing tasted too light.COMPLIMENTARY BREAD:- We liked the brioche bun so much that we asked our server if The Clubhouse Grill offered complimentary bread. He said yes but it will take a bit to bake. He said it was made in house but not as good as the brioche. The french loaf was brought out with a side of butter and oil/vinegar. The bread wasn't very good at all. It tasted like store bought frozen dough that was later baked in your own oven.SKILLET BROWNIE:- Friend and I thought the brownie was meh. The batter wasn't the sticky yummy goodness you like from a good brownie batter. It was dry. The cinnamon ice cream was nice though. I had to showcase how tiny this brownie skillet was. I adore tiny items so thought the cork was a good way to showcase the size of this skillet. My blog has more detailed pics and reviewService was nice. He was a younger gentleman with a welcoming smile. We also appreciated his honesty about certain dishes. Would we return any time soon to The Clubhouse Grill ? Probably not. The food wasn't spectacular and the ambiance is stuffier than what I'm personally comfortable with. The Veranda at Rancho Bernardo Inn is still my go to place for hotel/golf club eats.

Absolutely loved all my experiences here! The first time I came here, I was with family for Father's Day and the food, server, and everything was awesome. I returned again today for my boyfriend and I's two year anniversary and the service was excellent. It was pretty empty since it's a Thursday around 12pm. The server was so kind! The hamburgers are amazing, I had mine cooked medium well, and even though it was more like well done, it was still super juicy and tasty! The fries were good as well. The server surprised us with a dessert, the brownie with ice cream, and it was super delicious as well. I honestly recommend this place, they're the best!

In all likelihood, this was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had anywhere. (And I'm including Denny's in this universe. For a supposed 5 star resort, this restaurant was a cruel joke.)Here's the picture: only 4 tables seated (2-4 people at each table), no one seated at the bar, plenty of empty tables and and four waitstaff wandering around aimlessly. Despite the absence of customers and ample wait staff (one would think), no one came to our table to say hello or welcome us. When we got up and asked if someone could help us, a pleasant young man said yes - and then disappeared. 20 minutes later, we still hadn't been given menus, silverware, napkins, or placemats. No one came to wipe down the table or even acknowledge our presence - at the height of the normal lunch hour at ~1 pm - note that this wasn't at 4 in the afternoon. When we eventually begged for silverware and menus, they appeared - 10 minutes later. Again, the place was basically empty with almost more staff than diners. We waited 20 minutes for our drink order to arrive. Two beers and two glasses of wine. NOT complicated. And yet plenty of staff wandering around without a seeming care in the world. Our entrees arrived about 35 minutes after we placed our food order - which was 10 minutes BEFORE our appetizers showed up.Every time we thought the staff couldn't make things worse, they did. Patrons at every single other table had the same experience - I saw at least one person from each table get up to find staff willing to provide water, menus, ordered food, drinks, etc. NO ONE was able to simply sit and enjoy their meal without doing the servers' job for them. And the food was obscenely expensive. You may disagree, but I thought $56 for 4 shrimp tacos was more than a bit ridiculous. We were prepared to be ripped off - that's par for the course at places like this and we're used to it - but when the service is this disastrously poor, one's willingness to be robbed for the food diminishes dramatically. The food was OK. Nothing great, but what did I expect when I paid "only" $28 for club sandwich...?And then we had to ask for the check 3 TIMES. (Still only 4 tables with people at them!)So why did we bother to stay? We were with friends and didn't want to make them uncomfortable. If we had been there as a couple only, we would have walked out within 10 minutes of arriving - having never been acknowledged or approached BY ANYONE.One drink each, 4 tacos, a hot dog, a club sandwich and an appetizer that barely made it out before the end of the meal - for ~$250. I know inflation is crazy, but this is just patently absurd - and obscene. With truly dreadful service to boot. If this is what passes for service at what is supposed to be one of the best resorts in San Diego, all hope is lost.Avoid this dump at all costs.

On our arrival day we were exploring the grounds and stopped in for a bite TJ eat and glass of wine. Mark and Daapraj were the bartenders on duty. Couldn't ask for better service , they addressed us by name recommended the pizza and an excellent bottle of Chianti. We relaxed on the terrace and enjoyed the view. Their attention to our needs were outstanding. They answered our many questions regarding the grounds, restaurants and pools with detailed enthusiasm. Outstanding in every category!
