Not sure why this place has such low ratings. We had a late lunch there in their lounge since they hadn't opened for dinner yet. The view of Mt Rainier and the water was great, we really enjoyed sitting outside. The salmon salad and house salad with grilled chicken that we had were good, not exceptional. What was exceptional were the fried oysters - fine the way they should be, with a light crispy coating outside and a large juicy oyster inside.Service was good, no issues there. Our experience there was good, even without the view the food was well done, it's worth a visit.

We've been going to the Cliff House off and on for abt 20 years. In 2015, one of my daughters had her high school graduation celebratory dinner there for ~20 people and the accommodation by CH was wonderful. The views are breathtaking and the location is GREAT! We often go there for happy hour nowadays. Sadly, they recently took our favorite happy hour menu item away - salmon sliders. We were terribly disappointed and likely won't go as often as we used to. Lastly, the restaurant could use some upgrades (even simple things like carpet and paint touchups). It's still a family favorite and I hope they consider and act on the feedback.

Oh What a Night!!! The Cliff House did its thang!! We decided on an early dinner so we made a reservation for 4:30-5 pm. The staff from the Hostess to our waitress was gracious spoke in very calm tones. I love that! My husband and I began with salads. I had the wedge salad. It was so good. The salad dressing was very light vinaigrette with bold flavors. I customized my salad and they did everything exactly the way I asked. We had several drinks as always I ordered a Cosmo and the bartender definitely knows what they are doing! My husband had a dark and stormy. He also enjoyed his drink. For my main course I had the Chicken Marsala with whipped Yukon potatoes and sautéed green beans. My mouth celebrated each and every bite! The Marsala sauce was perfectly seasoned. The chicken was cooked just right. And the portion size was the right amount to be full and not stuffed. The next dish was the Prawns and Scallop Risotto. This dish was beautifully plated. My husband raved about this dish. That first bite all he could do was smile and lean back in enjoyment. We closed the night with a lovely piece of Red velvet cake! Babe get it! Sooo good! Cliff House is not a place to rush in and out. Come here take time enjoy the view of the sound, sip on a drink and fall into a great conversation. The staff encouraged us to just chill. This is what is missing from so many restaurants. Too loud over crowded and impersonal. Not the Cliff House. Hope you stop by for a spell.

Beautiful view of the sound, good food, and friendly service. Our Kids (50ish but still our "kids") took us to an early dinner here. We ate downstairs since it was not open yet upstairs. No problem... still the same great views. Our lunch/dinners were well prepared and tasty. The Wagyu Sliders and Smash Burgers, accompanied by well-prepared fries were a big hit with all. The drinks were also of special note. My wife's wedge salad was the only thing worthy of complaint. The toppings were very sparse and resulted in a bland "lettuce salad". Recommend for a good meal in a relaxing atmosphere.

My partner found this restaurant and booked an appointment for a celebratory dinner for us. We have driven by the restaurant that is small and unassuming from the outside on a quiet road, so we had already been eyeing it.We did show up 15 minutes late for the reservation (which I can fully admit was my fault), so we lost the reservation. Luckily, the main floor is the dining area, and downstairs is a bar where you can seat yourself, so we were still able to enjoy the evening. Both floors had absolutely stunning views of the Sound with floor to ceiling windows. Both floors are also decorated with timeless dark wood. The bar downstairs was actually quieter than the upstairs and had the option for outside dining. It felt much more intimate to be downstairs. We sat on the outdoor patio to watch the sunset, but being that the patio is surrounded by natural foliage, a large amount of flying bugs came out at dusk. So I would recommend the patio during the day but be careful at sundown. We then moved inside and continued to enjoy the night. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. Our waitress even noticed that we were dressed up and offered to take our photograph. She was quick to anticipate our needs and also provided a good amount of information that allowed our night to go smoothly. She was very attentive to us and never left us wanting for anything. The food was absolutely amazing too! From the bar, you can order from either the upstairs kitchen or the bar, so we were able to enjoy a good amount of variety. We started with a flatbread pizza to share, a Blue Moon, and White Russian. For dinner we had the steamer clams and curried mussels with a loaf of sourdough to share. The cocktails were made with quality alcohol. I feel like the sourdough was absolutely amazing! It must have been fresh because the outside was perfectly crunchy but not too tough and the inside was soft and pillowy. All of the food had amazing fragrance, and the curry was well seasoned. What was nice too is that the meals we ordered came from the bar menu too, so it didn't break the bank to have quality meals. I know I'll be going back and I already have my heart set on trying the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.

Service held a lot to be desired. Brought out an order done wrong as well as forgetting all together another dish we ordered. She had even repeated it all back when we first ordered it. When we had her take the incorrect order back, her attitude sucked. Even if you're upset, keep your attitude to yourself. Dont be snarky when you walk off. Do it in the back room at least. Bad attitude for incorrect order redo. Not impressed. My mom and stepdad took me there since I'm visiting out of town. They said they will not be going back.

The Cliff House is definitely a hidden gem and holds special meaning for us. We had our Rehearsal dinner there and we have gone back to eat on our wedding anniversary for the last 3 years. We typically go on weekdays, around 4:30/5 to beat the dinner rush. We have never had to wait for seating. At that time, the dining room upstairs is still closed, but the dining area/bar downstairs is open and seat yourself. The restaurant has incredible water views and you can see and enjoy the view from pretty much any table in the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is always so kind, welcoming, and attentive. We typically go for seafood when we go and everything we've had has been delicious. This last visit we tried the chowder in the bread bowl and it was AMAZING. My husband and I both enjoyed our main courses - he had the Fettuccini Neptune and I had the Northwest Cioppino. The serving sizes are just right, large enough to feel satisfied but not so much that you're stuffed or need to bring food home. We will continue to make the long drive out to eat at the Cliff House!

Came here for the first time today and I loved it. The restaurant itself could certainly use some TLC. The views are beautiful and I loved how quaint the restaurant was. We ordered margaritas, old fashioned's, the bacon jam scallops, chef special copper River salmon, and the ribeye with lobster. For dessert we got the limoncello cake and the turtle brownie. We loved everything. I couldn't believe how delicious every bite was. Even the drinks were sooo tasty. I will say that the service was slow so if you are on a time crunch, I wouldn't recommend this place. But we had nothing but time so it didn't bother us much. We will certainly be back. Can't wait to try all the other items on the menu.

For our 9 year wedding anniversary my husband and I had only a couple things we were looking for, for an intimate date night. Peace- if we can hear dishes clinking in the background from the kitchen, that's a big no for us no matter how good the food is or how well rated the place is. I don't want to have to yell over the noice to have a conversation. This place gave us just that. Peaceful, quiet, perfectly lit. Mostly because of the natural light coming in from all of the windows. It just felt nice the moment we walked in. Wait staff- the sweetest woman was our waitress, she didn't bother us too often, but also came around when we needed her. I even saw the table in front of me snapping their fingers at her and she was nothing but nice and respectful to them as well. She even acted as a photographer for a minute without any annoyed look on her face! We asked her to take a picture which we NEVER do because we know how annoying that would be for a waitress and told her that it's our anniversary and she was happy to do it for us. She had a free dessert with "happy anniversary" written on the plate brought out to us after we finished eating! And obviously the most Important part, the food- Absolutely delicious. Wow. I'm a big seafood lover so I got the captains platter- and when I say it was perfect, I mean it was perfect. My husband got the wagyu dip and at first we thought "oooo it's ground beef" when it came, but it absolutely did not TASTE like ground beef! It was juicy and delicious just like my meal. I had to have a taste! So I can honestly say I loved both meals. So this place checked all of OUR boxes but, it was even more impressive than what we had hoped for... The view was beautiful! The location was kind of off the map so it was nice and quiet with good parking, the prices were on the more pricey restaurant side but still absolutely fair for the quality, it actually felt like it was cheap for the quality and ambiance compared to most places if I'm being honest, I even met the chef while looking for the bathroom, and he was so nice and respectful! This place gave us an anniversary date we will never forget.
