Hard to believe that a cake business can operate and be successful selling cake through a window. But when your cake is this good I think you could sell it out my of the trunk of your car and still do well. For those who don't understand, this is a walk up cake shop that posts their daily flavors on the wall (and I guess on the internet) and people walk up to get their fix! My wife and I split a piece of Carrot Cake. It was huge, and amazing! Not too sweet, but full of flavor. The cake was very heavy (in a good way) and super moist. We did find it weird that if you sell "to go" food that you don't have forks available. We had to go to a gas station to get s couple of forks to eat our cake.

This shop is so interesting because it has a window where you order from and that's it. I went late July and saw on their site that sometimes they have full cakes so I bought one for about $120. It was either strawberry or raspberry lemon flavored and was alright. To be honest I only ate a small slice because it was really overwhelming. The cake base and the filling were good but the frosting was very sweet - a couple people ended up scraping the frosting off from their slices as well. The service was fine but I did ask if they would be able to write on the cake and they said no, so that was a bummer but understandable since it was same day, so I ended up going to Walmart and bought "hbd" candles instead. I'm not sure I'd be back just because it was very sweet and the rest of the flavors sound just as sweet if not more. Btw they don't give forks, so make sure you bring your own if you plan on eating the cake somewhere other than your home. Also, they only have street parking - the spaces in the alley next to the shop belong to the place across the alley.

I learned about The Cat and Rabbit bakeshop when they collabed with Ice Cream Social. This is a walk-up cake shop that sells cakes by the slice (you can, of course, buy an entire cake too). They update their menu daily, and each slice has a description. My favorite thing about this place is its unique flavors. My personal favorites are the passion fruit and cherry cream cheese. This bakery updates its menu every week, but some flavors may remain on the menu longer. Each slice costs $11 before tax.

First, it was very tricky to find. No signage until they physically brought out a sign. We bought 2 slices, chocolate chocolate cream cheese and Oreo. The Oreo was very mild, wish it had a little more Oreo flavor. The chocolate chocolate cream cheese was good, would have loved it with a ganache. Both were very good, just not sure we'd drive to Tacoma for $11 slices.

When researching places to order our wedding cake, my husband and I knew we wanted to support a small local shop in Tacoma. The excitement of trying new flavors every couple weeks to hone in on our wedding flavors was a fun way to make the wedding cake shopping experience special. We ended up with a 9" cutting cake and 75 cupcakes for our big day and I can say that the quality of their work carried through to this large scale order! Their rustic look fit in perfectly with our venue, and didn't require any sprucing up at all.Every step of the way the Cat and Rabbitt team was easy to work with and we are grateful for their flexibility.

Stopped in again to try a different flavor, this time we got peach cream cheese I believe. I loved the frosting!!! This cake was not as sweet as the chocolate cherry, which I really enjoyed. We all agreed this flavor was a pass for us. The peach flavor was so subtle we could hardly taste it. The vanilla cake was thick and dense, my daughter described it as cornbread. I felt it was dry, maybe old or pre baked and frozen. Either way the vanilla cake was just not very good, peach lacked flavor but the frosting was so good. For the price this one was sadly not worth it. Still giving 4 stars because the frosting and our previous selections were good.

Cat and Rabbit is amazing, and anyone who goes there will recognize. I'm not much of a sweets person, and their cakes are life-changing. While the flavors change monthly, and they sell out so fast I rarely have many options, each slice has been a day-long revelation (the slices are enormous and I'm not charitable enough to share ). My partner got a cookie there, and through a full mouth confirmed it was the best cookie he'd ever had. Here's to hoping they open a bigger storefront so I can eat more cake forever!

I'm glad to have found this cakery on the south end! We got the cinnamon roll, lemon cake & "the stoner" which was a Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Whip, Pecans, White Chocolate Chips, Vanilla Cookies, Oreos, Mini Chocolate Chips, Mini Marshmallows, Truffles, Cream Cheese Buttercream, Caramel*Both were delicious & the cake itself were very moist. The cinnamon roll was also good but I found the cream cheese frosting to be a bit on the salty side. We also tried the scallion scone which was savory, like eating a breakfast sandwich, it was delicious! I will be back to try more of the other flavors & get a few more scones! Note: they will be moving to Puyallup on June 1st.

First time trying, the Tacoma location is just a walk up window and you order per slice ($11) or cake. They put slices in to-go boxes and do not provide utensils, so bring your own if you want to eat in car :)We went around 2pm on a Sunday so selection was 4-5 flavors. I tried the mango/passionfruit & vanilla jam. I took them home and left on counter for 2 days and then put in refrigerator overnight for the 1/3 slice left each. It was SO MUCH BETTER refrigerated! I recommend but I would go early to have more choices.

I am so glad I got to try The Cat & Rabbitt. Every time I have walked passed here there was a line to the walk up window and I usually didn't have the kind of time for much of a wait. But after the tragedy to one of the owners of Howdy Bagel the Tacoma community has really come together to show it's support. We purchased the Birthday Cake in which the proceeds go to Howdy Bagel and some chocolate chip cookies as well. We got here as soon as they opened as the cake went fast and we had to wait until the weekend until the Birthday Cake was available again. The cake and the cookies seemed pretty dense in texture. They were enjoyable for sure but I am not so sure that I cared for the denseness with the cake in particular. There is another cakery in town that I am head over heels with how their cakes are made but that doesn't mean I won't return to Cat & Rabbitt. The German Chocolate Cake and the Black Forest Cake holds much promise for me as well as the cinnamon rolls which I believe are served only on Sundays.
