I've seen a fair amount of reviews for The Butcher's Cut that are on either extreme end of the satisfaction spectrum so I wasn't sure what to expect going in. My wife and I decided to try it out for an early dinner before a show last night and we most certainly were not disappointed. As a matter of fact, we enjoyed our experience quite a bit. I'm not the best at describing decor, but everything looked well thought out and put together. There weren't any clumsy random decorations nailed to the walls or anything like that, it was nice and everything appeared to be clean and well maintained. I will say however, my chair (the back) was not comfortable in the slightest bit. It was immediately noticeable and required me to frequently shift positions to alleviate the discomfort. For what it's worth, I'm an average size fella at 5' 11" about 185 lbs.The staff was all polite and professional, our server was knowledgeable, attentive and clearly intent on curating a great experience for us.Now for the meat and potatoes (Ha!):We started with a cocktail, my Butcher's Cut Fashion was pretty average. I expected it to be a little more boozy with the barrel aged bourbon being used. No one flavor stood out, just kind of bland overall. My wife's martini was fine and to her liking (Tito's, blue cheese stuffed olives, dirty) but pricey ringing in at $23.50.We opted to go with the Couples Night experience, selecting option 1(wedge salad, 32 oz. Tomahawk ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus and chef's choice of dessert). Our wedge salads arrived pretty soon after and they were pretty good. They were what you'd expect when you order a wedge, aside from the shaved carrot topping. They were a little smaller than your average salad.Unfortunately the heat and humidity prevented us from being able to try the zucchini blossoms so we went with the crab cakes instead, paired with a glass of white wine (GLS Petite Chablis). Three small crab cakes (think average scallop size) very well dressed with the jalapeño aoli and mango chutney showed up in no time at all. Very tasty, definitely glad we added them into the mix.The main showed up right on time, served on a large volcanic rock (at least I think that's what they said). It really was a terrific presentation and unique because that rock was hottttttt. So hot I had to ask for another plate to put our beautiful ribeye on because it was cooking before our eyes. It also kept the mashed potatoes at an inedible temp which forced us to take up space on our plate to allow them to cool. The asparagus was grilled and tasty but also became overcooked and soggy because of how hot the display was. The ribeye was really good, well seasoned with a great crust. This particular steak holds its own up against steaks I've had from other high end spots in town. We paired the main course with the Daou Cabernet Sauvignon(which is always awesome).Dessert was a pretty simple chocolate mousse that we paired with some limoncello. The mousse was a bit on the bland side and the crust didn't have the texture or crunch I expected. We very much enjoyed ourselves and will definitely visit again but here's why there's a 4 star rating. The uncomfortable chair, food cooking past "done" at our table and the service charge. Yes those pesky service charges that were outlawed as of July 1.Service charges are still allowed however, basically, they have to be conspicuously listed on menus and disclosed by staff prior to getting the bill(neither of which happened). Imagine my frustration when I saw that pesky service fee on our bill. We didn't have time for me to really duke it out with a manager over $10 so we paid it and off we went.

Ok, here we go. Went to The Butcher's Cut over the weekend while in town for my Fiancé's birthday and had high hopes for a delicious dinner...Turns out we were in for a disappointing evening. Ordered the Oysters - came luke warm. Oh and the vinaigrette tasted of ocean water. SadScallops for my Fiancé came and upon setting the plate down had a foul odor - she described it as "smelling like dirty feet" ....tried one and could not eat the dish.Asparagus (which were $13 i believe) came and looked water-logged, as if they were canned or sitting in water for days.Filet - ordered medium rare, came medium to medium well. Barely seasoned. Blew my mind as this is a steak forward establishment. Mashed potatoes - disappointing but edible. Ultimately every single thing ordered was bad, we've never sent back a single plate in our lives and have eaten at hundreds of high end restaurants but sent back two this night. There was a couple next to us that we overhead sending back multiple plates as well.I Ended up splitting my overcooked filet with my fiancé as we didn't think ordering something else would result in a positive experience. All in all, the oysters and scallops were taken off our bill - but still were charged $201 for the remaining items. Price itself isn't what hurts, it's the principle. Management really needs to do a deep dive into the inner workings of the restaurant and ensure things are up to standard and code as it is a pretty looking restaurant with a great location.

Pros: The server Jennie was lovely and literally the only reason we'd give the 2nd star. Cons: The food quality was incredibly sub par. Bread tasted like it had freezer burn, sangria had little to no flavor, lobster bisque was incredibly salty, sliders were flavorless topped with cheese that hadn't melted, Caesar salad dressing was definitely out of a tub topped with cubed croutons, ribeye steak was full of tendons and served with completely wilted lettuce on the side. You can tell nothing in the restaurant was made in house. Incredibly disappointing for something that had nearly 4 stars and a ton of epic reviews.

Gave this place a second chance and I was happy i did. The trio plate would be my top recommendation! It's a New York steak , lamb , and the lobster ravioli! The second best thing I suggest getting is the ahi tuna Ceviche! It was so fresh, it tasted like water. Service was great again. Great date night restaurant!

I recently visited Butchers Cut Steakhouse and had a fantastic dining experience. I ordered the Ribeye with mashed potatoes, and everything was cooked to perfection. The steak was delicious, and the chimichurri sauce added a delightful flavor. I paired my meal with an Old Fashioned, which was expertly crafted and delightful. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to dine. The only downside was the difficulty in finding parking close to the restaurant, but overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it!

We were a big party coming out of the convention center, they were waiting for us and were very accommodating with plenty of space for everyone. The appetizers were delicious including the meat board, fried calamari and salads. As for entree I went for the carbonara with wagyu and it was incredible; I struggled to finish it because it was a big portion, but it was completely worth it. Definitely will come back when in San Diego

Bomb food. Must come here. Can't wait to come back and try more items. The only thing here is at the bar they said we could only order off 1 of the menus for all our choices. So no HH drinks and then food from the regular menu. We came on Easter Day and the had in addition to HH and regular menu they had a prefix menu. I wanted only a HH drink and snack and my husband wanted to prefix choice.. they said Nope! Only 1 menu we could pick from. We eat out a lot and I've never came across such rules. So 1 tip do one menu at the bar, close out, then sit at a table and perform the other menu.
