Excellent food still as a remembered it being when I was a kid the trays the menu the food I don't think any of it has changed a bit. I got 1lb of brisket macaroni salad and fries with corn Bread. All of it was delicious the service was perfect and the restaurant was spotless. 10/10 I'll be going back.

The food is amazing!This place has lots of seating and a parking lot out front. The ambience is really nice, they play country music. Ms. Badpenny got the Brisket bowl of chili, it's huge! Comes with cornbread. I got the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 bowl of soup. The ham sandwich is tasty, the split pea soup is amazing too!

Their $6.99 burnt ends sandwich was amazing . Smokey, tender and delicious. I'm definitely coming back.

We haven't been here in years! When we walked in hardly anything about the ambiance had changed from the 70's (which we loved). It took us back to great memories having dinners there with our families when we were little. The food is still really good. Meat is flavorful and tender and the sides were really good too. I love their cole slaw and fries! The barbecue sauce was a bit thinner than I like. Service was good but kinda slow as you have to stand in the order line until the person/people ahead of you order is completed so they only do one order at a time. Even though this is how they've always done it, it's very inefficient.

I don't think I will ever come to this establishment anymore. I use to come here all the time, unfortunately the front cashier, older Latina woman with salt and pepper hair is just not happy or something but she always has a I don't care attitude and I don't want to be here attitude as well. I've experienced her service more than once and I've usually just blew it to the breeze. This time I tried to redeem their loyalty customer program where you buy 10 sandwiches and the next one is free. Well she was already irritated because she didn't know how to redeem it and then just started making things up. I've redeemed many of these before because I'm here all the time and she mentioned not even her manager/owner knows how to. She just made me feel very uncomfortable where I don't want to go back and I won't, sad because this was a staple in our household. FYI don't have a program if no one in your establishments knows how to use it or redeem it.

It's gonna be a no for me..... we went one evening for dinner and i opt'd for the bbq pulled pork plate and a side of Mac and cheese. The bbq pork tasted like it had overdosed on brown sugar. And just tasted really..... dry? Yet sauced up at the same time? It was a miserable bit of meat that felt dressed in a mixture of depression and vegan nightmares. The Mac and cheese. LOL. This concoction was so curdled that even the cheese dismissed itself and left the chat. It was a mixture of clumpy boys of curdled milk and mushy old pasta. Not a fan. Whoever made that mess needs a new position ... it's not their strong suit.

I have been coming here since I was a child and most always have had a great experience. Tonight the woman behind the counter refused to salt my fries fresh out of the fryer, and anyone knows about fried food that is the exact moment you season them. She doubled down that they don't do that and that I could salt them myself after I recieved my plate, which would be wrapped togo and thus lose heat while unwrapping. I have heard negative things about this woman and wanted to give the business the benefit of the doubt since the og has passed away. She should not handle customer service. I've worked in food and hospitality for 17 years and this was not it. Disgrace to the family. I hate to say I will not be coming back due to this poor lack of customer service. This was not a boundary but a lack of proper seasoning.

I absolutely loved this place. Family run, great food, homemade desserts. Very comforting and just felt like good home cooked bbq food. The atmosphere was comfortable and it just made my dining experience enjoyable. Everyone knew everyone's name and everyone was welcome. I will be coming here for a long time. Great new gem I've found.

My husband and I are in Heaven after eating here. We used to eat at Wrangler's on El Cajon Blvd for forty years every week. They closed and we were so sad. On quite a few recommendations we tried this place tonight. We found out the owner of Wrangler's used to work here and the beef sandwich we were craving was the same one. Clean and the employees are very nice. The food was outstanding. We found our new place. The meat is so tender. Not your typical over sauced bbq. Just real smoked beef in great portion size on a simple bun and delicious sauce. I didn't care for the potato salad but I am super picky about that anyway. So many other sides to try next time.

Pretty consistent food. Not horrible not stellar. Last time I got the beef there the butcher cut me a huge piece but it was really fatty. Maybe some people like that but not me personally. I did enjoy the ham much more-so than the beef. The baked beans were the star of the show. I may come back for the ham but not the beef.
