Thang Hung Food Market

Customer service has gone down the drain! I've been shopping here for over 20 years. There are new faces in the fish section and the rudeness was very disheartening. My mother is from Thailand, I get English being a second language as well as the language barrier, but what I will never get is how I can be told there's no more medium live Catfish when the tank is overcrowded with Catfish. I did get one small and not medium fish and the jumbo prawns,but I am feeding 3 people one of which doesn't eat shrimp.This could have turned out terribly! I could have come unglued, but I didn't. I have never been so upset in a grocery store and I said I'd NEVER return. After realizing how upset I really was, I called and spoke with the manager or owner. I didn't get his name, but he was very professional, sympathetic and assured me that he would get to the bottom of the matter. He also said he did not want me to feel discriminated against. I can appreciate the time he took to listen and provide feedback. To return or not to return......that's the question. Does one bad apple truly spoil the bunch?

I still remember the time when some of the workers told me not to get some prepared sticky rice because it was old. I was grateful for that.

Really bad customer service. Altitude and rude. The bad reviews here about the service is really true. The foods are fresh to me. But I wish the staffs could be trained better

This place does the job. I hate the parking, the long lines, and sometimes the people, but it has the biggest selection of items compared to other Vietnamese markets in the area. Just know that there are ridiculous people everywhere, and this place is no exception. There was a lady who opened all the egg cartons and chose each individual egg to switch into one egg carton. There was another woman who decided that she would silently walk up and stand next to me while I was in line. She kept trying to move an inch forward and skip the long line without saying a thing. Then, she opened her mouth and asked to go ahead of me while already putting her things down. There is no point in raising your hand if you're going to be talking at the same time. There is no point in asking me if you're already doing all that you can to skip in line. There was another occasion when someone pretty much ran over another customer with her shopping cart. She was going straight. The old woman was right in front of her. She only crashed into the old lady because she acted like the aisle was all hers and was speeding through with those sunglasses on. Oddly enough, I don't remember seeing this level of absurdity at other Vietnamese/Asian markets. Come here often, be patient, and you will achieve enlightenment.

1st and last place, I will never shop here again. All the stuff is damn rude and most of them don't know what the hell they sell here. Came to buy sum noodle and chicken, got home to start cooking and the whole noodle is full of fungus. Waste my money time and gas for this. Wish I can not put a star on it.

We often have great experiences at this market, but recently my mom bought an expired product from here. She wanted to return it, but one of the lady managers ( I think there are multiple ) was extremely rude to her and disrespectful. My parents said they would leave 0 stars if they could.

I really like this market. I've been there 2 times in the last 2 weeks and someone always offered to help me find things. Their fish is great and very well priced. It's a fun place to shop in and everyone was very kind.

My immediate family and I have been coming here for 15 years. Never had an issue.Yesterday I came to order some bbq pork, (I always order the rib area) to be cut. Never had an issue with the Hispanic man. An older Asian man that was cutting the pork, refuse to cut the part I want (I'm the god damn customer) wtf do you mean you don't want to sell me what I want. Then a younger little Asian lady wearing a black hat jump in to say "we sell what we want to cut and sell you, I don't care if you're a customer" in Vietnamese. By the way, I noticed that the previous pork, the customer before me didn't want the same part and they've cut it without issue.Like I have stated, they've done exactly what I asked for in the past. People in the prepared meal section needs to be train more properly to not discrimate and be bias base on tips.

I'm Vietnamese. First generation, have been frequenting Thang Hung and Hong Kong since before I could speak. So please tell me why the security guard discriminated against me and my friend one day. Here's the gist: my friend is in mourning and breaks down a bit while we're attempting to go about our lives. I comfort her in the middle of one of the aisles-- no one's around, I know there could be better places for grief but you truly cannot help how you feel sometimes and I was trying to be there for my friend. As we move along, the security guard comes up to us and inquires if we're okay. I'm like yes? And then he says, "I was alerted by someone that you guys were being inappropriate and hugging and kissing. This is a family store." I'm a girl, have short hair, I dress like a tomboy. Ah. So we go back and forth about how nothing's going on, and then he says "come with me" and makes us stop shopping and basically kicks us out. I'm still having a back and forth with him trying to get him to understand, he's being a dick. Then I tell him "how would you feel if your family was treated this way--" he goes angrily "don't you bring my family into this!" Uh, sir you were the one calling it a "family" store but you draw the line here. My grandma lives near here. I still go here to buy her groceries, because there's certain things only Thang Hung has that she wants. I'll continue to come here because I love my grandmother and can swallow my pride. But I hope anyone reading this can understand how slighted and wronged I felt. This "security guard" somehow avoids my gaze every time I've come back. Wannabe cop. Don't frequent if you're gay and/or mourning someone who died I guess.

I go here because it's the closest. But my experience here is constantly horrible. I went just recently on Jan 23, 2022. And had to be one of the worse experience. So I'm fluent in English. And the lane 1 has a sign that says cash and credit only. I know for a fact my card can be used as debit or credit here. Because I have used it as both in the past. So to begin wait there was a long line for check out. But once she scanned everything I insert my card into the kiosk and it ask if I want this to be a credit or debit transaction. Of course I said credit. Than completed what I needed to do. Then in her end she pushes some buttons and than points to the sign and said credit or cash only with this look like I was se idiot. I told her yes I did complete the transaction as credit. She snatches the card from my hand and hits some button on the register and insert my card in the kiosk. And pulls it out when the message on the screen clearly said do not remove the card yet. And goes see doesn't work. I looked at her like she was and is the idiot she is and we were arguing back and forth for a bit but there's no winning when going against an idiot. I said fine I'll pay in cash. So if you see she's going to be checking you out? Only reason to suffer through is because she's the shortest line.
