Brisket was really tender, sauce was great, pickles and onions from bar were wonderful and complimented each bite, potato salad... hmmm yum, slaw, was ok, loved the bacon bits, definitely took it to new level, and portions were pretty good. It was more expensive than I expected but normal for Texas BBQ. Two sides cost more than two slices of brisket. Noticed how 15% service fee was added but that's alot. Not sure how I missed that at checkout? I would watch this if I just skipped past that. It's self serve and a food runner brings your bbq. I enjoyed it, but for price would probably go somewhere closer to my area of town. Looking like regular Sunday after church crowd in here today.

5 stars for the sides and service, 4 stars for the barbecue and ambiance, 1 star for the chocolate. I had some family visiting from out of town, and I wanted to give them a Texan barbecue experience. Most bbq joints are closed on Mondays, but sadly, a Monday was the only time we could get together for lunch. This was one of the few bbq joints that was open on a Monday (a huge plus), but my cousins picked this location over the other (Rudy's) for the promise of both barbecue and chocolate. While the barbecue was great, the sides were EVEN BETTER - don't miss out on the Carrot Souffle. It may not sound like the most appetizing option, but this is a must-try: you'll have to trust me on this. On the flip side, the chocolate was a miss. Chocolate is in the restaurant's name and in the brightly lit glass case as soon as you enter, so expectations were high. The chocolates are all beautifully decorated and adorably named. However, even though everyone in my family tried a completely different flavor, we all agreed that our chocolates were way too rich and sweet to the point that the flavors were overpowered. Aside from that, we had a great time and will definitely be back for lunch soon.

It was ok. Order at the counter and get a number. Self serve drinks. Service is fast. The food was average.

A second return visit to Tejas needed an amended review to include one of my favorite sandwiches of all time! This will be a quick review. The infamous Bird and Bacon Sandwich! Smoked turkey, bacon, fried egg, avocado on a toasted bun! After a long day puttin around Houston, I had a craving for some breakfast for dinner and let me tell you........ this was it!I'm not sure if the stars were aligned with Jupiter that night or what but that single bite was everything! Oh and don't forget the green sauce too! This was happily devoured in my car and was gone all too soon!I still dream of this sandwich! And you will too!

BBQ was delicious! Service was top notch. Had burnt ends, I'm salivating as I'm typing. The brisket was yummy. Chocolate was okay, kinda had a dry taste if that makes sense.

EDIT TO MY REVIEW: sorry my review changed slightly after noticing the was an automatic tip added for counter service style ordering and before any service was performed or food was received. I'm sorry but that to me is not right. I think people should know this BEFORE they go in. Still a cute place but be aware before you go. I'm just sharing to bring awareness. Cute charming place for a weekend dinner. We all agreed the sausage and potato salad were very good Cornbread pudding- very dry and denseBrisket and ribs were fair but the loaded baked potato was very good. Only counter service, not recall any waitstaff. Self serve drinks and they were the type of soda made with cane sugar so not name brands. Staff was very friendly and the chocolate truffles were good. Stop by and give this place a try. Everything is ala carte so you can basically make your own plate.

The brisket tacos were very good & the tajin covered limes gave it that extra flare! The staff was super friendly. Next time I'm in town I will go back for sure!!

I've visited Tejas several times & I try to not get stuck ordering the same things & review each visit. This trip I tried their pastrami beef rib &, friends let me tell you, it's going on my Top 5 personal list of awesome bbq menu items across Texas. Their chile relleno sausage links & brisket are always incredible, but this pastrami beef rib is something special -- smoky & savory in each bite.Tip: If you get the pastrami beef rib, 1/share it & 2/take the meat off of the bone & remove the rib membrane.Nothing has changes about the service or ambiance. You should probably plan to wait in line, though, unless you arrive early.

I had a great experience here. My brother brought me here because he said the food was really good. There was a good size parking lot across from the restaurant. We had no issue finding seating, we sat outside. They have a vast display of chocolates, I'll include some pictures. It has been a min since I was last here since I don't live in Texas, but I'll post pictures to give people an idea. Food wise, everything we ordered was very tasty. Meat was tender and moist. They had good flavor. Carrot soufflé was delicious. Chocolates may or may not be the same, but I recommend trying some out and bringing some home to your family. The ones I got were not too rich, I enjoyed all of the flavors I bought.
